1. Alabama Football         I KNOW MANY OF YOU (LIKE ME) ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO FOOTBALL SEASON.   WELL, HERE'S A LITTLE RECAP OF LAST YEAR.........   Coincidence? Just wondering...................   Alabama beat Arkansas, and Arkansas fired their coach.   Alabama beat Tennessee, and Tennessee fired their coach.   Alabama beat Auburn, and Auburn fired their coach.   Then Alabama beat Notre Dame, and the Pope resigned.......   BOY, How I wish the White House had a team!!

 4. "They" were likely the copyright holders jesse was stealing work from openly. If they seed their own work they can monitor who is connecting to them to steal parts of the file. Comcast often threatens to deny internet service to that address and hand over the user's ID to the copyright holder's attorneys.(as per the service agreement for obtaining internet acces via Comcast.   If you use bit-torrent only for legal file downloads such as legally distributed linux ISOs or Cody's gun designs you won't get a notice b/c they are licensed for redistribution where as popular music, and commercially released movies typically aren't.

 5. This has come up more than once. If you are a resident of Tennessee, you need a Tennessee permit to carry in Tennessee. There is a grace period when you move here, just like with a drivers license. If you have a Florida permit, and are a Tennessee resident, I think you're fine in other states that honor Florida permits... just not Tennessee.   If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. If your Tennessee permit is revoked for some reason, they are not gonna just let you get a mail order permit from another state and allow you to carry.   I'm not a lawyer or LEO, but I can read. OP, I understand your situation, but you're just gonna have to find a way to get it done here. It's less expensive than donating your gun to the police when they catch you with an invalid permit.

 6. I know this is an old topic/thread but I just wanted to let folks know that I never got any response from Chris Cox to the letter I sent.  I guess I would have been really surprised if I had.  I still don't like this bill, I tell everybody who asks me that I don't like this bill.  I get asked a lot at work by co-workers who know I have worked on this and I tell them they can will still get fired if caught with a firearm in their car.    The idea by our legislators that it will intice employers to revise or rethink policies that ban firearms is a pipe dream.  The often stated "promise" to revisit the bill if employers across the state start terminating or taking action against employees who take advantage of this new law is nothing but smoke and mirrors.  A tactic to get the pro-gun people off their backs.  The General Assembly has not revisited the parks law, what makes people think they will ever revisit this.

 7. Inconsistent powder throws often are a result of not holding for a few seconds at the bottom of a full handle pull. It may sound silly, but check to be sure that you're pulling the handle all the way down and ensuring all the powder drops.

 9. If you guessed the Swedish Mauser, you are correct :) They are often regarded as some having the finest quality metals used in manufacturing. I just bought one yesterday! A Carl Gustav Stads Gevarsfaktori model made in 1900 with all numbers matching. This rifle was originally an M1896 model that was cut down to the M1938B model (or Gevar M/96-38B). These can easily be identified by the straight bolt instead of the bent bolt. The B designates the threaded barrel. Why the threads in WW2??? It was for mounting a shredding device for the wooden training ammo! This example also has the special Metallverken Vasteras type 2 rear sight insert, adjustable for 250-600 meters in 25 meter increments. The stock disk is stamped to indicate bore condition, throat erosion, and the wording indicated to the soldier whether "kentucky windage" was needed for the newer 6.5x55 cartridge being used at that time. Purpose built M38's were calibrated from the factory for this round. The upmost desirable Swedish Mauser is one made by Waffenfabrik in 1895. Read more on this rifle's accuracy and origin according to the article in the summer/fall 2013 edition of Surplus Guns magazine on pages 152-155.

 10. I got carded at checkout for a Birchwood Casey Perma Blue kit! I refused based on general principal and my keen sense of self-awareness that I'm an a$$hole who likes to stir up trouble. I know it's not the cashier's idea, so I asked for a manager. She goes to get somebody, no doubt rolling her eyes as she tells him, because he comes over with an apologetic sigh. I waited until he's just about to start his 'shoulder-shrug-with-palms-rotated-upward' gesture to shake my head disgustedly and say 'don't tell me it's company policy'. He does anyway, admitting he agrees it's stupid, but they have to follow the rules. I avoided asking him if he EVER drives too fast on his way to work and skipped asking if Walmart asks for his papers to buy bleach and dish soap. I just cut to the chase and asked if he wanted my money or was I going to have to go somewhere that did. I walked out with my bluing kit and my HCP and DL never left my wallet.

 12. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS HERE! Mothers day is sad day for me because I lost my mother to an automobile accident 12 years ago. For the ones that still have theirs, make sure to just hug them, appreciate them, and above all tell them you love them! I wish I could. This is me and my mother some 40+ years ago (love you mom)!: ">http://

 14.   I have a Model 1 upper with a 24" heavy stainless barrel (8 twist). It does a good job out to 600 with 77 grain matchkings.

 16. There is a reason why the RGuns uppers are still available.   A 9 twist is what you want. 9 twist will shoot anythign up to 77 grain bullets, including 40 grain varmint bullets. 7 twist will cause the jacket to seperate on anything under 50 grains. I know I have slung the jackets from 53 SMK's in a 7 twist barrel.   Too fast is worse for accuracy than just barely stable. Look at all the match shooters, in their 30 caliber guns they are using 17 and 18 twist barrels when most factory guns have a 10 or 11 twist. The original 5.56 had a 12 twist barrel and it was devastating but they went to 9 twist and performance began to suffer then they went to 7 twist and it became even worse. This is why we are hearing all the complaints from troops in the middle east.   You could probably build an upper cheaper than buying right now. I just did a quick search of parts and you can build one for a little over $500.   Another option is to give these people a call and get an idea of lead times: http://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_ID=152 They have great prices and their uppers are decent quality. They are a real deal when you take into account the cost.

 19. Yeah, as Keal G Seo put it, I make a big deal out of it to hopefully get them to rethink a stupid policy. Therefore, as Randall53 said, I took it up with the manager. There's no point hassling a cashier over a store policy, so I wouldn't waste my breath. Besides, as you put it, she doesn't care. She's just doing as she was told and has no authority to get anything done about it.The manager, on the other hand, does have some influence. He also cares about revenue and making customers happy. Back when I was running restaurants, some of our best suggestions and ideas came from customers (some of whom were mad about policies). Protocol dictated that I document the incident and submit it to the powers that be. A perfect example...at one point NO pizza joint would accept a cell phone number for delivery orders. At a few corporate meetings, we managers explained that we were turning away tons of orders, because not everyone still used a land line. They weighed that against their old reasoning (security of knowing the address matched the phone, mostly) and abolished the rule. So, enough complaints can get things changed. The things that cost them sales losses and make customers mad, get changed fastest.

 21. I wasn't going to post here, being a relative newcomer to IDPA, although certainly not to handgun competition (shot IPSC for years). What I read in these rules is a bunch of total BS.  The way I see it is that if you can conceal your pistol of choice, then it's legal.  I personally don't care whether I'm competing against someone with an RMR or open sights.  My opinion has always been that it's not the arrow, it's the archer.  In SSP, I can add aftermarket sights, but I can't stipple my grip or add something as innocuous as a Grip Force Adaptor to my G19?  IMO this is total crap!  I'm not asking to slap on a scope or a laser, and neither of the above has anything to do with concealability.  I certainly don't have a problem shooting against someone with a 1911 in any caliber, so why all these different classes.  A Marksman with a custom 1911 is still a Marksman.  Rant over...

 23. There are surely principles you hold dearly enough to stand up for. This is one of them for me. You're welcome to roll over and relinquish your right to privacy, to not be hassled with idiotic rules, and bow down to corporate CYA bull$hi+. Me, I'll take the unpaved road and attempt to affect change where I can. What are they gonna card you for next? Where do you draw the line? Bottom line: they don't need to see my papers over every stupid little thing I buy, so I won't put up with it.

 24. Actually for beer and cigs, its state law to be carded. If they don't card you and the "customer" behind you is a state beer board inspector or some crap then they get a big fine. Now for the blue stuff, I'd have to agree, I see no reason to show my ID, also if they ask for zip code I always give 37371. Let them figure out how I live at the post office. :D

 36. 6.8AR, I understand what you are saying.. We have to start somewhere, Is his approach ideal? Nope it is not. Marching on Washington and trying to get the numbers over the last couple of decades have not worked, either you don't get the numbers or it just falls apart.    After the SF guys submitted their document with the signatures of Active/Reserve/Retired Operators, I contacted them to see if I can use it as a framework for Airborne Qualified personnel. I have yet to get to it, as it causes pain to think I gave 7 years to this nation (bad knees, messed up ankle, and quite possible some other stuff that VA will never recognize) for some pencil Dick in DC to destroy with a whip of a pen or vote. Up until the 2008 election, I was not a registered voter, nor a NRA member, nor participated is contacting my representatives to voice my opinion and let them know how I felt.    Am I frustrated with the system, yes, I am, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go full retard to expose my frustration. There's better approaches, does it take time, yes it does, will we over come the biased media and the libtards, quite possibly but only if it's a unified approached. NRA is working it, some Sheriffs are working it, some States are working it, what we need to do is ensure we don't give the pencil dicks more reason and empower those that are fighting for us continue to do so. Senator X voted for a ban, next election he gets voted out, it might look like groundhog day every election, but after a while Politicians will get it when they are sitting on the side of the curb wondering where the dropped the ball..    Also another item to look at is the industry itself, several companies have decided to stop selling to states/cities, that have decided to play stupid games, until it's 100% complete agreement within the industry, it's not going to move forward. Same goes for LEO, if they don't agree 100% or their Chiefs are just looking out for their next political move, we are going nowhere. When the media continues to bash people who are willing to uphold the Constitution, we are going nowhere. We need to confront them and ask them why, what gets people going that are like that is not arguing with them, but asking them how they came to the conclusion and why they believe that is true. When you do that, they tend to fumble with their thoughts and ideas, and there's the opportunity for learning to occur.    Last item, as some stated, play stupid games win stupid prizes.. Among the group their will be one idiot, that will just being finger fucking his weapon and then it's game on.. And we are going to be back to square 1.

 38. Don't worry, I think they will keep it about the same.  They don't want to lose members.  At 22,000 members, they're only pulling in $660K a year in membership dues and have to pay for people to organize the organization and events and keep the lights on in the office.     Let's not forget it's a game like anything else.  If you don't like to play the game choose a different game.  Don't like baseball, go play basketball.  Honestly, I'm not a huge IDPA fan, but I show up to my local shoot every month and play by their rules.  I just like to shoot.   If they make me walk, I'll walk, but I'll do it with swagga!  LOL
