The long slow walk out to the tree to pick your own switch you were about be get beat with. And it being OK for your parents tell others about it because that was how everyone rolled back then.9 points

My step brother and I got into a scuffle one day and my step dad sent us out to get 2 short peach tree limbs and one long one. He said, "y'all wanna fight, get after it until I say stop." The long one was for him when we just stood there not wanting to hit each other, he used it for motivation.3 points

Take a look at Belt Mountain basepins. Most likely, your crosspin n pin notch has been battered a bit, causing the base pin to back out. I've used a bunch of the belt mountain pins in my hard kicking Blackhawks. They are inexpensive and work like a charm. They use a set screw to hold the pin in. Ya simply can't beat em... leroy...2 points

I just got in my crawlspace today and did some work. Which reminds me, I should thank the TGO'ers who gave me some ideas on how to fix it... more in another thread2 points

You fellas talking about getting your ticket has motivated me to get my HF rig set up again. I've been in this house for about four years now, and haven't been on the air except a little 2-meter. I've had an antenna in the box for a couple of years, but today I ordered some brackets and coax and will get it up. Thanks, guys!2 points

FYI since starting this post I have been studying for the HAM radio license. There are plenty of online practice tests, that uses the actual test questions. I’m now consistently getting 85 to 95%, only need 75% to pass. So I should be good to go. I’m going to find a test in a couple of weeks (busy next week). So not hard, not hard at all. Just a few hours of practice and you should be good to go.2 points

In the Air Fryer thread, we were talking about the Fry Daddy, which made me think of a fun topic. What are some things that kids these days simply wouldn't understand? Doesn't have to be 'a thing' it could be a common courtesy like shaking hands or an act like Sunday drives. A few examples:1 point

It ain't the years, its the mileage. My odometer has done rolled over at least twice and I got the scars to prove it. I'm 69 and feel every day of it.1 point

Keeping with the TV theme. When your console TV (which was a piece of furniture nobody wanted to do away with) died, so you put a TV on your TV.1 point

When I was growing up, my Grandparents still had a pipe well with a rope and bucket and used an outhouse. Kids today wouldn't even know what the Sears catalog was for. a And you had these for night use. A millennial would absolutely freak out if they had to use these!1 point

RE: the OP's question . . . Being on the phone and someone else picking up another phone in the house and listening in. Being chained to a cord while on the phone. Not knowing who was calling when the phone rang. Riding in the back window ledge of a car and waving at the cops. Sleeping in the rear floorboard with the warm transmission tunnel as a pillow. Having to call MOVIE PHONE or get a newspaper to know what the theater was showing. A bookshelf full of Encyclopedias . . . and learning about the important stuff in the "S" book 1940s and 50s cars and trucks had them. I know the Chevy 3100 Advanced Design trucks had them.1 point
