I know a bunch of teachers - most of whom would jump in front of a bullet without a single hesitation to protect their kids. I don’t know a single one who wants to carry in their classroom. Plenty of them are pro-gun and carry elsewhere in their lives. They express a host of reservations - everything from that’s not the job they signed up for - to risks associated breaking up fights - to their name being made public and suddenly being all over social media and PTA text threads. I don’t know of any that have really thought about it and come to the conclusion that it’s worth it. Every last one of them said some version of, “they don’t trust us with books or curriculum - they’re not going to trust us with guns.”

My brother would ride facing backwards on the handle bars. Put his feet under mine and both of us peddle, we could go faster than everybody else.

Putting this back up for sale: I have a pretty darn nice, lightly used Smith & Wesson M&P10 in .308 Winchester or 7.62x51NATO that I am putting up on the for sale. I have shot probably 50 rounds through it, would be surprised if the previous owner shot many more. Looks like almost new, some handling marks. I'm not an AR afficionato so I don't know much about it or what to look for. I have disassembled to remove the bolt and look at it but that is it. It has a nice floating heat shield installed but comes with the stock one. M-Lock angled foregrip installed on it. Has some nice Troy Industries flip up sights that will go with it as well. 5 Mags with 1 all metal 10 round mag. It is a nice rifle, with everything included, in the bag, ready to go, first $1,300.00 takes it OBO. Trade interest: Benelli/HK 12 guage semi-auto

That's a beauty! I learned some of my meager shooting skills on one of these. Even back then...almost 60 years ago...I couldn't shoot worth shinola! but that didn't ake the fun out of it. These were virtual "tack drivers" and are great pistols. The seller is pretty good too. lol. You can spend much more on a 22 and not do appreciably better than this for a first-time shooter, back yard plinker, or a squirrel snuffer. GLWS my friend.

Not to mention being ostracized by their co-workers. Social media outing, doxxing, etc is bad enough in today’s unhinged digital society. The names of the teachers who carry, even if they are allowed to, will get out.

Yup, that is nearly the exact feedback I got from my teaching family and friends. High risk, low reward. Like you said most would throw their own body between an attacker and a child but none see being armed as the right answer to stopping an active shooter or protecting kids in classrooms.

Smith & Wesson 29-5 4" 44 Magnum Aside from the turn line on the cylinder it's in great shape despite being handled a fair amount over the years. I'd guess I've put a couple hundred rounds through it, nothing crazy. The grips are in good shape but there is some cosmetic wear near the bottom on both sides. Never had any problems with it - just decided to pair things down a little. It'll come with this here Galco OWB holster. Don't have the original box/papers - just the gun & holster. My wife would certainly prefer that I sell it but I might be open to swapping for hell, I don't know, something. 9mm, 223/556, full sized AKs, etc I'm in Manchester but travel through Murfreesboro and Nashville several times per week. Two teachers in the family, two more close friends or neighbors that are teachers. 3 of the 4 hold TN carry permits and do carry when not at work or on school grounds. None of the 4 have any desire to carry in school. 2 of the 4 specifically said they would not carry even if this bill did not have the restrictions or stipulations about gaining permission. Neither had any desire to take on that responsibility and quite frankly that risk. One specifically said they had no desire to get sued by a parent if things went sideways in their school at some point. The one without an existing permit is not anti gun but has never owned one and has zero interest in learning to shoot much less obtaining a permit. She is married to someone who does own, carry, shoot and hunt but she has no interest in knowing anything more about firearms. My conversation with the two family members indicated that they had yet to hear a fellow teacher express any interest in obtaining the required permissions. General consensus of the educators in their circle of peers thought it was a pretty stupid idea and useless bill.

Isn't it funny how the left thinks this last part that ALL our Founding Fathers agreed on is somehow negated by the passage of time and circumstances they think trumps our natural rights?

Can we make this at least a once a week thing and make it permanent? Both of those - dogs and bourbon - are FAR better than people!

Nothing in the text of the bill stipulates that, but there is also nothing that would prevent something like that being a local policy.

I have a tool with a wood handle and different sized suction cups on each end I’ve used to lap engine valves. You spin it back and forth between your palms. There’s not really a secret to lapping. You’re just removing material in places you can’t readily get a sanding block. You know you’re done when no dull areas are left.
