This really puts this car thing into perspective doesn't it? For me I just really have to draw the line at automatic transmissions. Nobody really needs one of those and they are so dangerous because they make it easier for stupid people to learn how to drive. If NFL players were not allowed to drive cars Jerry Brown would still be with us today.

Ever heard that saying about people might think that you are stupid if you don't say anything, or you can open your mouth and remove all doubt. I think that applies to Mr. Costas here. Stick to Football Bob, leave the guns to us.

It's about the only thing that I make a point to sit down and watch each week and is about the only thing the wife and I enjoy watching together. It's refreshing to see "reality TV" about a family with morals and scruples. Very nice contrast to pretty much everything else on TV. When was the last time there was something on TV that didn't have, cursing, sex, drugs, violence, etc. and was actually successful? Also interesting factoid, Phil, the father was a QB for Louisiana Tech, Terry Bradshaw was his backup QB. All of the Robertson's except one have college degrees and many of them have post graduate degrees. I'll let you guess which one didn't get their degree.

Looks like Costas just doesn't know when to shut up. He's elaborating on Sunday night's statement and making even less sense. Here is an excerpt:
“Here’s where I stand: I do not want to see the Second Amendment repealed. … People should be allowed to own guns for their own protection. Obviously, those who are hunters. … Access to guns is too easy in some cases. I don’t see any reason a citizen should be able to arm himself in some states in ways only police or military should — to have a virtual militia [by] mail order or gun shows. Why do you need a semi-automatic weapon? What possible use is there? … Whitlock wrote about a gun culture. That’s what I was focusing on.â€
And the full article... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/early-lead/wp/2012/12/04/bob-costas-calls-jovan-belcher-commentary-a-mistake/

Had to employ some good 'ole TN ingenuity this afternoon

I had a relatively new radiator in my truck that had a small leak, so small that I had to pressure test it to find it. The leak was actually where the transmission cooler line went into the radiator. I put a huge glob of JB Weld around the leaky area and let it sit up good. 3 years later it is still holding great. -
Sometimes I think that it is a little weird that I despise guns stores even though I really like guns. Guess this is why. Seems like every time I cross the threshold of a gun shop the people behind the counter are filling my brain with lies and high prices. Most recently was something to the effect of "Semi autos will be banned after this year so you should go ahead and buy this $500 SKS here."
if it is NOT LISTED in the HUNTING REGS, it cannot be legally hunted. Dave S
A couple of years ago I saw a very strange looking deer not too far from my house. I knew for certain that it wasn't a white tail. When I got home I called my game warden buddy and described what I had seen and where I had seen it. Instantly his reply was "I wish you would have shot it." Turned out I had seen a fallow deer that had escaped an enclosure. He told me that it would have been legal to shoot because it was a non native species and Tennessee had no season on it. Generally though just following the book is a good way to keep yourself out of trouble.

I'm speechless, sure the comparison is ridiculous but I thought that I would pass this along as I believe that it is important to know what the opposition is saying about us. http://dailycaller.com/2012/12/03/anti-gun-sports-columnist-jason-whitlock-the-nra-is-the-new-kkk/

Just once I want someone to die of a papercut sustained from a liberal publication so that we can call for a ban of such publications.

Mother wants debt inherited from dead son's loans forgiven.

I'm in agreement with the rest of the crowd here. This is a responsibility that she took on when she decided to cosign. It was not hidden, there is no surprise. This is what life insurance is for, financially responsible people have life insurance. -
I don't know if I'll have have good feelings about Cookville...I seem to recall that the police like to shoot family pet dogs at erroneous traffic stops.
I know the officer in question professionally and have had dealings with him several times. I'm not sure what happened that night with the dog but Officer Hall (I believe that he is a detective now) is absolutely a stand up guy. Perhaps he made a split second bad decision but my dealings with him have been nothing but top notch.

Yep, TTU alumni here, Cookeville is a great little town I enjoyed the time that I spent there and probably would have stayed in Cookeville after I graduated had there been more job opportunity. But, if you son thinks that anywhere is better than Memphis then he needs to visit Detroit, or in my opinion most of Arkansas.
Talking on a cell phone, maintaining a straight line, and driving above the speed limit is not that difficult. I do not understand why others cannot do the same thing. As far as habits, it depends on where I am at, city driving is around 10 over and interstate the cruise gets set to 95.
That's brave! I would be all for no speed limits on the interstate IF we had proper driver education. My 9 over routine seems to work pretty well. Most troopers that I know will give you 10 or 15, I don't know any that give more than 20. How has that worked out for you?

I have a good friend who politically seems on the fence about people carrying he sees the pros still shes a lot of cons. His wife thinks that anybody that carries is "trying to be a cowboy." Her brother and sister in law carry and do so irresponsibly. The SIL was recently in a drive thru where she got irritated at the car in front of her so she got out of her vehicle walked up to the vehicle in front of her and announced "I have a gun and a permit to use it, get out of my way!" Morons! I hate that fence sitters are exposed to idiots like this and think that we are all that way. I did explain to my friend that that is not the intention of a carry permit and that a responsible permit holder is only going to reveal that they have a gun if their life is truly in danger. He does acknowledge that his inlaws are pretty stupid.
I am pretty sure it is illegal to harvest a roadkill deer without permission from the TWRA. At least thats what they told me.
Well sort of you just have to notify them within 48 hours of picking it up, I also believe that you can simply notify the sheriffs dept instead of TWRA if you like.
TCA 70-4-115 (c) Motorists are not required to report game accidentally killed by the operation of a motor vehicle. Notwithstanding any other provision of the law to the contrary, wild animals accidentally killed by a motor vehicle may be possessed by any person for personal use and consumption; except that, first, personal possession of a deer accidentally killed by a motor vehicle is permitted only if the person notifies the wildlife resources agency or any law enforcement officer within a reasonable time not to exceed forty-eight (48) hours and supplies that person's name and address; and second, personal possession of a bear accidentally killed by a motor vehicle is permitted only when authorized by an enforcement officer of the wildlife resources agency and the person is issued a kill tag. In deer-kill notification situations where a law enforcement officer rather than someone with the wildlife resources agency is notified, the law enforcement officer or the officer's designee shall be responsible for notifying someone with the wildlife resources agency and supplying the information relevant to the deer-kill. I used to work loss prevention, I've worked in Putnam and Anderson Counties, both heavy meth use areas. I've been sick after having meth cooks in my office for 30 minutes. The sickest I ever got was when a known thief/methhead was trying to return a whole bag of clothing that was obviously stolen. I couldn't prove that she had stolen it but I had seen her steal several times before. I walked out and introduced myself as the head of store security and explained to her that we had had a big problem with people stealing clothing and them returning it so I would have to check the items against our sales records. I was pretty much bluffing just to see what she would do. I took the items back to my office and about 5 minutes later she left the store. I just tossed the bag over in the corner and it wasn't an hour later I became violently ill. It was obvious those clothes were saturated with meth cooking fumes.

How you carry with YOUNG children around.
10-Ring replied to MississippiBoy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have a 3 year old, my wife and I are simply raising her into the "gun culture." At 3 she knows what a gun is and not to touch it. That does not mean that we leave guns lying around. My wife usually checks her gun when she gets home. That means either on top of the refrigerator, dresser, on or in the safe, just depends on what we are doing. I will usually carry on myself and check my gun if I'm playing with my daughter. Seems that it does make it a little harder to conceal in public while picking her up and whatnot so I'm always conscious of that. My best advice is to talk to your kids about guns even if you think they aren't big enough to understand what you are saying. We've tested out daughter by leaving an unloaded gun on the kitchen table. She immediately came and got us to tell us there was a gun. If you shield your kids from guns completely and they come across one they will not know not to touch it. -
Taking the girlfriend on a trip to chicago.. SD question
10-Ring replied to kesava's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
If I had to travel to a place like that I would have to take my cane with me because my knee really acts up when I get in a "gun free" zone. Other than that remember that situational awareness is your #1 defense. -
I saw those down at the Walmart the other day, they had several colors available, funny though they were only selling them in 2 packs, who wants a group buy?

I love my 642 but a lady friend of mine got an LCR in .357. After shooting it one time I wanted to throw rocks at my 642. The trigger on the LCR is awesome. Let her shoot both at the same time and decide for herself.

I own a 23 and a 27. I'm not a really big guy and I didn't carry the 23 very much at all the first few years that I had it, matter of fact I didn't like carrying it and that is why I bought the 27. A good holster and belt solved that problem. I open carry at work in the summer, I'm standing and sitting about 50/50 and moving around quite a bit. The 23 is comfortable for me to carry all day. The 27 I forget is even there. I can comfortably conceal the 23 in public this time of year under a light jacket. In the summer I'll just tuck it under my Tshirt if I'm going into a store or something, a close look would get me made but most folks probably never notice.
