  1. Awe man how are they going to dis the Battle Mug?  That just ain't right.  Also, even though the bottle opener is about the most useful thing on there the guy that wold use it would probably be the same one that accidentl kills you.
  2. Can't have a thread in this subforum without some wiseguy telling us how he is more primitive... Rob should be along soon to show us how he kills carpenter bees by smacking them with a willow switch or some other method that I could only dream of being able to do.
  3. I had to do chores at David's house for a weekend.
  4. Gun hidden close to front door and a gun hidden in the living room where most of our time is spent, in addition to the house gun on the night stand.  Out in the yard sometimes it's a Glock 23 in a OWB holster but in the summer time when it's hot and I want to wear nylon shorts it's the TCP in the pocket.  A .44mag it is not, but with me it is.
  5. I have a certain dislike for public ranges period but sometimes it's necessary for some folks to shoot at them.  I've shot at the Stones River TWRA range more than any other.  There was one RSO out there that I didn't really care fr but haven't seen that one in a while.  Most of the guys out there have a wealth of knowledge and share it only when asked.  There are a couple I've encountered out there that I didn't care for but nothing bad enough to let it ruin my day.  Sorry to hear that some of the TWRA ranges are not run as well.
  6. If they hate us so bad then why do they keep moving here?
  7. I guess it depends on what you want to do.  My grandparents used to have a pump and they pumped water out of the lake to water their lawn and their garden.  I wouldn't drink anything from a stream if I didn't have to without proper filtration, you just never know what has encountered the water upstream.  Even in remote areas where the water is pure a dead animal in the water can make you sick if you drink the water.    So...  If your goal is to save some money by watering a garden or something I'd look at pulling from the creek.  Otherwise I wouldn't bother with it.  If the goal is to be prepared in an emergency situation then I would just stock several cases of bottled water along with several gallon jugs of water as well.  I can't really think of a scenario where your city water would be unsafe to use and the well would be okay, if one is contaminated the other most likely would be as well.  Even something like the floods of 2010, a few cases of water would have gotten most folks by just fine when the tap water was unusable.
  8. Came across this television show on Amazon Prime.  The show is about a small town that mysteriously has a dome placed over it and no one can get in or out.  Although it is fictional a lot of the scenarios that play out in the show are realistic.  The situations in the show remind me a lot of the book "One Second After."  I know a lot of people here enjoy that kind of thing so I just thought that I'd share.
  9.   Wonder if he needed help spelling it?
  10. Find a local credit union with shared branching and join it.  I've had accounts with Suntrust, BOA, and Regions and I wouldn't go back to any of them.  I just made a 200 mile move and the credit union that I'm a member of doesn't have any branches here but it's no big deal I can do my business with any credit union in their network.
  11. Sure they do.  My grandmother and her neighbor both have wells, they live in Lebanon.  Her well is aweful, water smells bad and stains everything even after going through a complex filtration system.  The neighbors well is about 200 yards away and comes out of the ground nice and clean and just goes through a water softener.  I'm not sure of why you want a well, I assume that you are already on city water.  It's nice to not have a water bill but depending on the condition of the well water you have you could easily spend more on water treatment than your water bills is.  I've lived in 3 houses in my life that were on well, two were great and the water came out of the ground and didn't require anything else and the other was a constant pain in the butt. Be prepared to spend a considerable amount of money to drill and keep in mind that you may or may not hit water and the water may or may not be good.  If you are wanting a well for SHTF purposes I would stick to city water and a few 55 gallon drums that collect rain water.
  12. Is Browning in the .357/.38 lever game?  I have a BL-22 and love it.  I never could appreciate a Henry after having this gun, they just don't feel good to me.
  13. My ex-wife had a mood ring, it would leave a red mark on my face whenever she was mad.
  14. It's cool, but it's nowhere near $35,000 of cool.
  15.   I think it works at least as well as a gun buster sign works at keeping bank robbers out of banks.
  16. At least Micheal Brown's "parent's" released a statement condemning the act.  Why was it even necessary to report that.  It is completely irrelevant to the situation at hand. Even bringing the Brown's into this is just stirring the pot.
  17.   And you really think that 8 hour class and $115 is going to stop any of that?
  18. Sounds like constitutional carry to me. I don't think it would pass seeing as the state would no longer get to collect money from permit holders. Plus no one needs to be running around with a gun without training, my 8 hour HCP class basically gave me the skills of a highly trained operator.
  19. I don't buy it and you can't really argue with MacGyvers statement.  Not sure exactly what the study looked at but I see little to no correlation between the number of people hunting and the number of people owning guns.  I know lots of people who are avid shooters that don't hunt.
  20. I have never turned down shooting something that I haven't shot before.  Given the chance I'm not sure I'd jump on this.
  21. I worked at Walmart with a college degree for a while.  It wasn't the best job, I didn't like it, and I didn't stay but it was a means to make an honest living for a while.  No shame in an honest days work even if it is for the devil.
  22. As at least a 4th generation Tennessean I welcome outsiders that share our beliefs.  We have plenty of natives that do not.
  23. I'll jump on the boat of if Walmart ain't selling it it's because it ain't making enough money.  I don't think Walmart cares what anyone thinks, they are all about the Benjamin's.
  24.     You know that the Tennessean's headline would read "Senior citizen attacked while grocery shopping."   This guy had to be senile.
  25. Well stated Caster.  I feel the same way.  If everyone on the line was a trusted friend it wouldn't bother me but the fact is that the gun handling abilities of people at a public range are unknown and varied.  Therefore this is one of those rare circumstances where a "zero tolerance" policy makes since.  If a few people are irritated because they were inconvenienced but they get to go home without any bullet holes that's a winner in my book.
