American manufacturers would have nothing on it but people would continue to buy the American trucks, even if they cost three times as much. These people will undoubtedly be quick to tell you how proud they are of there "American" vehicle and how it will out perform that "Jap crap" even though it won't. The American trucks will also not be as dependable as their Japanese counterparts. Ironically Toyota is amongst the "most American" made trucks on the road, meaning that they source more of their parts from America than other companies, Ford rivals them on this but Dodge and Chevy aren't even close.

AVG does not seem to be as good as it used to be. They are always wanting you to download something else it seems.

From USMC to NIKE... and California to Tennessee
10-Ring replied to a topic in New Member Introductions
Small price to pay for what we get out of it. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Welcome to Tennessee. We have a certain way of doing things here and for many of us our families have been doing it that way here, for generations. We don't really care how you did it back where ever you came from. In case you threw your map away when you got here, I'll happily remind you that interstates 40,24,65,75,81, and 26 will get you back to where you came from or a at least headed that way. You can check http://maps.google.com for more detailed information concerning your route. -
I'm right hand left eye dominant, as well. Usually I shoot a rifle right hand, right eye, but this might not be an option for your son. I can also shoot left handed. I got pretty sufficient shooting left handed back when I shot a lot more. It can be done and comfortably. It's important for shooters, especially hunters to be able to shoot off of either shoulder if physically able. This past muzzle loader season a deer approached me from my right, I would have had to pivot my body 90 degrees to get a shot, instead I simply decided to take a left hand shot and didn't have to move at all. Had I had to take a right hand shot I'm pretty sure that I would have scared the deer while moving.

So, you get a new computer, get it home and fire it up. What programs do you put on it? I'm talking about things performance related to make it run better. For me it's AVG Free, and Firefox. Am I missing anything here? Are there other performance enhancing problems that I should be running?

I had a '79 Bronco and it was indeed a tank. Mine had a 400ci V8 and did not lack for power. Some red neck had welded up the rear end but it would go places in 2wd that my newer F150 would have to put into 4wd to get. I took the top off the day that I got it and put it back on the day I sold it. Couldn't of imagined having to have it as a daily driver it was a rough ride and loud. Even though, it was unstoppable! This is the only remaining picture I have of it. It needed to go when it did, it was never anything but a toy, but I do miss it sometimes.

After owning Fords, Dodges, and Chevys I'll never own another after owning a Toyota as long as I don't need a truck to pull a very large load. Can't say enough good about my Toyota, super smooth ride, pulls pretty decent, and though I don't do any extreme off roading it has never left me wanting more in the terms off off road capabilities with my Michelin M+S2 tires. It has been a champ in the mud to get me to hunting spots and has been unstoppable in the snow. 140K and drives like it's new.

I've only been on the East Fork a couple of times and never was fishing either time, didn't seem like it was that cold water that smallies like but I could be wrong.

Sounds like it was a training issue, which seems all to common anymore. It's what happens when you pay low wages and throw tons of information at your employees. Still, the employee didn't handle the situation properly and it looks like it cost the company a sale.

I see a lot of problems with this trap. It's heavy and bulky, and undoubtedly expensive. The thing it has going for it is it's portability. Another problem I see is the trap falling on a pig, injuring/trapping it and letting the others escape. Heck I wouldn't want a mouse to suffer. You can get the same results much cheaper with a few hog panels and devising a one way door, which isn't hard with a little ingenuity.

That's a nice pic Ted. I'm from the Nashville area and just moved back. I was not into photography when I lived here before and I would love to get out and do some night shots around the city. However I am very hesitant to do so alone. Between carrying around an expensive camera and not having good situational awareness while I'm setting up and taking the pictures I need to get some buddies to go with me and do it. Just don't feel that it would be safe to do alone.

American Eagle 5.56 Green Tip Ammo Panic
10-Ring replied to Will's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I'm sure tat the gougers can diversify enough to exploit two calibers. It was just a couple of years ago that we couldn't readily get handgun ammo in any caliber because of those a-holes. -
Painting airweight J-Frame?
10-Ring replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Wonder what the trick is for getting them to do it free of charge. I have a 642 that was my primary carry weapon for years and I have always had issues with the finish on it. Almost like it's a clear coat that just flakes off. -
I cut my teeth in photography by being a photographer on the Dragon for three years. I saw a lot of wild stuff and I literally have hundreds of pictures to prove it but this is one of my favorites from that time in life. This happened to be a personal friend of mine who walked away from this accident completely unharmed. He landed on the side of the road, stood up, and yelled at me "did you get that?" And that is why I'm a firm believer in wearing good gear while riding motorcycles.

I've dropped a carry gun before, I'm not proud of it and I can say the problem was not properly using a holster. Two things here 1) Carry your firearm properly to where the risk of dropping it is minimized, check and double check that this is done. 2) DO NOT, under any circumstances, like TDR stated, try to catch a falling gun. Just let it fall, no quality modern gun is going to go off if it hits the ground. Plus they are carry guns, if it gets a scuff on it, who cares? I hate to play arm chair quarter back and I only do so in the hopes that I can educate others through mistakes that I have made so that they don't make the same mistake.

That's awesome, I've been wanting to see that for a long time, maybe this year?

I know we have a lot of photographers here on TGO, myself included. There was another thread of this type a while back but it is so old a lot of the links to the photo hosting sites are no longer good so I thought that I would start a new thread so we could share our work with one another. Please contribute your own work. Here are a few of my favorites from the past couple of years. I don't care if you use my pictures for private use, I would appreciate a PM if anyone intends to use them for any other purpose. I have the same sentiments for my 2004 Tundra. 4x4 4 full doors 4.7L V8. I love everything about the truck except for the fuel consumption. I can approach around 17MPG on the highway, I usually get around 14 around town and 12.5 is what I average with a loaded utility trailer of lots of 4WD use in the snow. I have yet to get less than 12.5 MPG. It's just the price I pay for driving a 4x4 truck with a big cab and a V8.

Input on reloading setup from experienced reloaders.
10-Ring replied to gravedigger's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I would just start out with a single stage press, which is inexpensive and what you really want anyway for your application. Get yourself a good reloading manual and read it, then read it again. -
So that is you that I've been talking to?

Did not know that a Hi Point was used at Columbine. Doesn't bother me a bit, among other guns I own Glocks, a 1911, and a couple of Mosins. No telling how many lives have been taken by those models, not to mention the Mosins that I own could have been used to take lives. It's just a tool though. Personally I don't get wrapped up in that stuff. Since you are in Cookeville go down to Bend of the River and talk to Charlie, provided the facility is still open and Charlie is still there. I haven't been there in years but that is my favorite range of all time, not the fanciest by any means but if you buddy up with Charlie he will do anything in the world to help you. Back when I lived up there I used to shoot skeet at Bend of the River, it was stress relief. I was the only one in my skeet group that showed up one cold and snowy morning and Charlie went out and ran the shooting houses for me so I could get my skeet round in. He also taught me how to zero a scope using about 2 bullets and gave me a wealth of other knowledge. He's just a retired guy that own a range and has the heart of a teacher.

Have fun in this snow while you can I'm building an ark, looks like I'll need it next week.

I just have to ask what you have heard concerning the history of the Hi Point?

I'll say this about Google...Their customer service is top notch. I had dealings with them a few months back and placed a phone call, I wasn't placed on hold, and I talked to a really friendly English speaking guy that got my problem solved quickly. Last time I called Comcast I was put on hold for 17 minutes before I was connected to an Indian that I couldn't understand.
