Frankly I'm surprised they didn't end the article with a mention of the coming NRA convention.

I knew a guy that feed a large flock of turkeys in his yard. His son also turkey hunted on the same farm. You could walk right up to them in the yard but as soon as they crossed the fence they were wild as could be.

Black powder, swabbing the barrel between shots?
10-Ring replied to 10-Ring's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
I will likely get two new black powder guns. I would like a traditional muzzleloader to do some hunting with in a traditional sense and I also want to get a good modern black powder gun to put meat away with. I seem to have better chances of killing a lot of deer during black powder than any other time and want to put yup as much meat then as possible. -
March 2015, I will never forget and never want to repeat.

Black powder, swabbing the barrel between shots?
10-Ring replied to 10-Ring's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Patch lube? I'm shooting sabots, do I need to do anything? Gun is a junky CVA Apollo, which is possibly one of the crappiest firearms made in recent history, this thing is the Phoenix Arms of black powder. Thanks for bearing with me, I'm trying to learn. I really think I'll be in the market for a quality muzzleloader before black powder season starts. -
Any other Comcast customers get a notice of a $21 price hike due to taxes this month? I doubt it, but if anyone has please post up.

Once while perusing a gun store with my wife there was a really nice Colt Python in their display case. I told my wife I'd she was ever at a loss of what to get me for a gift that that gun would be just fine. She rolled her eyes and made a smart remark when she saw the price tag.

Comcast has a retention department? I cancelled them once before and the response I got when I told them that I wanted to cancel was "Okay we can do that" they didn't care one bit that I was cancelling nor did they try to even mention me not cancelling. Please tell me how you make a quick call with Comcast? Last time I called them I spent 18 minutes on the phone before I could even speak with anyone. What we will probably wind up doing is sucking it up and paying there stupid high bill because we (actually just the wife) and daughter will be there for a few more months. But I promise you all I will never ever hear the words "you had a choice and you choose Comcast."

Thanks but the location in question is actually our house in Maryville which is deceptive by my location on my profile, I moved out here for a job and my wife and daughter are still in Maryville until they finish their respective school years, and we find a house here.

I'm not even sure what the are doing is legal but I don't really know how to go about doing anything about it short of spending a bunch of money on a lawyer. Our Comcast bill has jumped from $86 to $107 a month, according to Comcast this is due to "fees and taxes" I believe is what my wife told me. If we had ANY other viable option we would be switching our provider but Comcast is the only broadband provider in our area. We have looked into getting a hotspot from Straight Talk but the data is so limited. My wife needs internet access for classes that she is taking, and seeing as we haven't had cable in about a year (After Comcast decided that they needed an additional $100 a month for that) we really do use a lot of streaming. Unfortunately our house sits in a hole and a TV antenna won't work at all so we really do kind of depend on internet. I'm sure that Comcast is not charging this rate in areas where they have any competition, I really feel like we are being gouged and taken advantage of.

Tannerite Sues NBC News for Libel and Slander

I hope they win, I wish they were suing them for a lot more. Remember back when anyone could buy dynamite at the co-op? Man everybody was blowing everything up back then... -
Appliance dolly and pieces of cardboard work wonders. If you have wood floors to cross give them a squirt of Pledge set the safe on the cardboard and they will glide across the floor. I couple of good sized buddies work wonders too.

2015 Spring Turkey Hunting thread - Post your season updates here!
10-Ring replied to whiskey's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Got out and patterned my gun yesterday. I'm glad I did. I'm shooting a Remington 870, 12 Ga, 28" barrel. I feel good with my pattern out to about 25 yards. After that I don't feel comfortable with the shot. I was shooting Winchester 3" No. 5s. Popped my buddies Primos Jelly Head choke in and I would confidently take 30 yard shots with that set up. May go spend the money on one. What kind of range are you guys getting out of your turkey set ups? Unfortunately I'm working 6 days a week right now on 11 hour shifts so what I thought was going to be a turkey season where I was going to get to spend lots of time in the woods has suddenly become a season where I will be lucky to get out a few times, but at least I'll be raking in some decent pay checks. -
I went through it about 2 weeks ago. About the same sized safe. Unfortunately I only moved it to it's temporary home. Thing is I bought the safe in 2011 and have moved it 4 times already including the initial move in. Life keeps happening, which requires me to keep moving. Of course the safe is always the most dreaded thing to move.

If you can't get what you want in the real world go after it in video games. So whose in for sending a Playstation to Washington?

I snagged a couple of boxes of 9mm at Hermitage yesterday, it was the only Perfecta that they had in stock. Fella in front of me bought a case.

Need help keeping an eye out for something
10-Ring replied to Luke E.'s topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I knew a guy who was making Kydex holsters. What he would do is make you one a a discounted price if you let him use your gun so that he could make a pattern. I'm not positive that it is doable to make a leather holster off of a pattern without the gun. Also may run into the legalities of holding a gun overnight in the course of a business. Depending on how serious of a business he is looking to get into this may or may not work for him. Another option may be airsoft guns as many are exact replicas. -
The $9 shipping charge kills it for me. $36 a brick for thunderbolt just isn't worth it or me. Thanks for passing that along though. Still in stock at 5:40 am CST.

Mine does not interfere in the least, I can not see any helmet when looking to the side. I have worn helmets that I can not say that about though.
-
The whole full face helmets decrease peripheral vision thing doesn't hold water, just try one on. The full faces made in the 70's and 80's may not have had as big as a field of vision but a well fitted modern helmet will not decrease your peripheral vision at all.

Turned over 100,000 miles! Unfortunately, I was only responsible for about the last 20K. 1991 Honda ST1100. Left the house on Saturday and put on right at 1,200 miles before returning today. It's due for a clutch but besides that I would ride her anywhere. I do have to say the best part about owning a 24 year old bike with 100K on it is I never stay in a motel on the road and wonder if she'll be there the next morning. Shot after I got home and wiped her down.

My Mark III and IV 1Ds run around $500, your 6D probably isn't that much. I don't plan on doing any more motorsports work so the shutter that I have will probably last me years now. I'd say most people would never wear one out even if they are shutter happy but I was shooting 5-10K 5 days per week and every now and then I'd have a day upwards of 20K, that adds up. Probably shot more in a day back then than I do in several years now.
-
As someone who has worn out a few shutters I'll tell you guys that you have nothing to worry about. My shutter is rated at 360K and I usually get between 900K and 1.2M before it goes. 4,000 a month is nothing.
