  1. I'm not sure but I think this barrel may be bad. It's pretty tough to get my bullet started but once I get down the first six inches or so it goes down almost effortlessly until about the last six inches then it gets tight again. Also I'm not familiar with lubing the barrel before loading so that may be an issue. Can someone school me on that right quick?
  2. Shooting in low light is always tricky. What ISO numbers were you hitting. I've gotten to spend some time with the 1DX and was amazed at its capabilities, I've run 25,600 without distortion with that camera. It was amazing!

    Helmet Law

I'm an avid motorcyclist, I've ridden through a lot of states, and I've seen a lot of crashes. I've had people die in front of me multiple times. I've seen brain matter smeared across the asphalt (result of the noon DOT approved "brain bucket"). Because of the things I've seen I always wear a helmet and always will. It's something I feel strongly about. I'm not as ATGATT as I should be but a helmet is not negotiable with me. A couple of my thoughts on the matter. If you don't think you need a helmet then you are probably right. $50 helmets are great for $50 heads. Freedumb isn't free. I do support the right to choose though, as was stated previously it's a little chlorine for the gene pool, almost like making stupid people wear a sign that says "I'm stupid" no need to ask that guy any questions...

    ...

At the risk of sounding like a hippie, I don't like to go to gun shows because of all of the negligent discharges over the past few years. Although I really think that since of then are the work of the antis.
  5. It's all fun and games until some jackass tries to open carry it and then some other jackass will pass a law.
  6. Got the old smokepole out today.  I'm getting a 4" group at 50 yards but that was after a half a dozen shots and I forgot my patches so I was unable to swab the barrel so accuracy may improve some.  My engine paint did not hold up well, though it did look good until today.  Quite a bit of it fell off when I had it leaned up against the workbench cleaning it and Hoppes #9 took a little off as well though I tried my best not to let it get in contact with the paint.  I may just give it touch up squirts as needed, but I'm really wanting to try this method, I just need to find something big enough to boil water in and hold the barrel.
  7. I don't really despise any household chores.  Though there are some that I dislike more than others.  Just like JWC I really don't like painting ceilings.  And I don't really mind painting during the winter when I can't be outside but I'm going to do my best to not be stuck inside painting during the summer.  I love to mow, especially if the lawn mower has cup holders.  Don't like trimming that much though (trimmers don't have cup holders.)  I find flooring and tile work satisfying because I get to see something that I accomplish.  I guess my least favorite would be the dishes but I've been known to do dishes at a friends house when they are stacked up just because I can't stand a sink full of dirty dishes.
  8. Can anyone comment on the levels of heat?  I like hot but I don't like it when it's just pure hot with no flavor for the sake of burning you.  I find at most places the hottest offering really isn't good food it's just so hot that you can't taste anything, you finish it in misery and regret it more the next morning.  I remember a bar when I was in college that had a wing sauce like that, I swear that they used OC spray to flavor the wings.  It was a miserable heat, it would make your whole face feel like it was on fire and then it would go numb I remember my lips swelling up once from it.
  9. Man that looks delicious.  I'm ashamed to say as a Nashville area native that I've never had hot chicken.  But... IMO this hot chicken fad is somewhat new.  I remember Princes but it seems that now Nashville is famous for hot chicken.  Now that I'm living here again I'm really going to have to go get some!
  10. I can't give you the answer that you are looking for but I can tell you that the radiators that come from the big auto parts stores are junk and are poorly made.  Bite the bullet and go to NAPA and just get whatever they sell.
  11. Sorry I just don't get the concept of telling your kids that an airgun doesn't require the same amount of discipline as a firearm.
  12. I've seen some really good deals on laptops through Groupon, fyi.
  13. This is nothing but a round about way to ban the eating of meat by people that don't want to eat meat and don't want you to either.
  14. This will be my first year to turkey hunt. I'm a total newb. How can I best learn how to effectively call? What are the easiest calls to learn to use? Do I need decoys? If I'm successful, what's the best way to clean one? I could write encyclopedia volumes about deer behavior and deer hunting. I would be lucky to fill out a business card with what I know about turkey hunting.
  15. I haven't fired a M44 but never thought that the 91/30 had any significant recoil seeing as it weights about 27 pounds.  Of course the most important thing to ask yourself when shopping for a recoil pad is "does this match my purse?" :P
  16. Wonder how it stacks up against the Hornady Critical Defense?
  17.       I disagree.  I was taught that an airgun was to be treated with the same respect as a "real gun" I was trained using an air rifle on how to shoot and how to safely handle a weapon.  But, I had an upbringing in which I was also taught the value of life and treating other life, both two legged and four, as I wanted to be treated.  That didn't include shooting at animals just to see them get shot or shooting people that didn't have the same skin color as myself as a past time.
  18. That is asinine, I don't want to live here anymore!
  19. Already being discussed here http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/86661-setting-up-fake-gun-shops-to-shame-buyers/
  20. Please forgive me if this has been covered, I did a quick search but didn't find an answer.  I'm hopefully going to sigh my black powder rifle in tomorrow.  I've heard of swabbing the barrel every few shots with hot water.  Is this necessary?  If so how do I go about drying it out so I can reload it?  How do I get hot water to the range?
  21. I've had very good luck with Toshiba.  I'm running a Toshiba Satellite as my back up laptop.  It is 4 years old and I've put it through hell.  I did have to replace the hard drive because I dropped the laptop and ruined the old one but that's my fault.  I did replace it with a solid state drive which is about all you are going to get these days anyway.  I'm currently running an Asus, which I have not been impressed with.  It is cheaply made, I returned it to the manufacturer right before it was a year old and they replaced the motherboard because the charging outlet was not functioning properly, my USB 3.0 port was not reading and one of my USB 2.0 ports were not reading.  Within a week of getting it back the 3.0 port stopped working again.  All of these cheaper lap tops are the same they are made very cheaply with little quality control.     On another note I bought a Sony laptop in 2007 and that was a very well built machine, still one of my favorites that I've ever owned.  used it for about 4 years before the hard drive bit the dust but never had another issue out of it.
  22. I don't see this is a big win.  The potential savings are nominal at best.  I guess that you would be paying for the convenience of not having to renew.  Not my cup of tea, I'd rather buy more guns.  Although it is my belief that I shouldn't have to pay for a carry permit it is what it is and $10 a year after the initial $115 just isn't worth arguing over, spend that energy trying to change issues that really matter.
  23. Awe man how are they going to dis the Battle Mug?  That just ain't right.  Also, even though the bottle opener is about the most useful thing on there the guy that wold use it would probably be the same one that accidentl kills you.
  24. Can't have a thread in this subforum without some wiseguy telling us how he is more primitive... Rob should be along soon to show us how he kills carpenter bees by smacking them with a willow switch or some other method that I could only dream of being able to do.
