  1. I've wondered how Stars and Stripes has been open this long with their prices...   I liked Gunny's better when Lynn was there. He's a knowledgeable gun guy and a good friend.
  2. I don't understand refinishing milsurp stocks honestly. In terms of the enfields, I have seen many that have just had their forearms removed, and that's an easy replacement.
  3. I wouldn't give anyone $150 for a "sporterized" milsurp. All collector value has been ruined unless it can be restored, but most of the time they are too far gone. Damn you, bubba.
  4. I will give him a call. Thanks for the info. After looking him up, he seems to be well liked and I'm glad he's still in business.
  5. Happened to me once. I was using a .22 caliber boresnake in an Arsenal SGL-31. Apparently the 5.45 has something like a .21x diameter, so it was my fault.
  6. Hey TGO, I'm needing some input from y'all 'Noogans. Where is a good, and preferably cheap place around the GA/TN line around I75 to get a transfer? I'm needing to get a transfer done in person from an out of state resident, I'm not ordering a firearm from a online vendor. Any suggestions are appreciated!
  7. I personally haven't received one myself so far :( but one of my cousins got one and yes, it does look pretty awesome. It all spends the same though.
  8. Eugene Stoner's M16 has been used against our own guys. It's not Kalashnikov's fault that the Soviet Union threw his design at every nation that said they hated America.
  9. Yeah, but it doesn't have the correct bolt, gas block, etc for a correct AKM or AK-47 appearance.
  10. I just read some reviews on the Taiwanese Wolf. Looks like it should be good stuff. I wonder if Monarch brass .233 will be from PPU or Taiwan from now on??
  11. Huh...wonder when that happened(can't see on my phone from YouTube vid). I got some mid panic that still had PPU headstamp and a purplish colored sealant.
  12. ^Good luck in your search for a Russian AK :-)
  13. If you have an Academy Sports near you, the monarch gold .223 is the same thing. It's PPU and very high quality.
  14. Hey buddy. Thanks for your service and maryville is a great area!
  15. Rumors are that an O-PAP underfolder is coming stateside in 2014 :D there's just something about those bulged trunnions and factory CHF barrels!!   The N-PAP UF is already here for $600.
  16. Lee was the best guy out there, and he was an American, no? He also graduated 2nd in his class at West Point if I remember correctly. IMO, he was twice the general Ulysses S. Drunkard was too.
  17. I think it'll go lower. AGS had wolf MC for $3.99/20 a few weeks ago with free shipping. The surplus is gone, at least all of the surplus that can be legally imported (wish we could get Chinese and Russian ammo like Canada can). I wish I hadn't shot all of my M67 ammo too, that stuff is gold. Mechanically, if you get a rifle chambered in x39, I'd buy Golden Tiger for storage (laquer coated, sealed bullet and primer), and whatever is cheapest for plinking. If you've got a place to shoot, gimme a holler and you are free to shoot some of my AKs.
  18. Factory barrels were usually 1:9.5 I think. Most American barrels are 1:10. Maybe you can find a damaged barrel and have it cut down and re-crowned. Should work I think. Also, 5.45 bullets may look like they keyhole at short distances, but from what I understand they can straighten out. You should be fine as long as you don't use a 1:9 barrel with the 5.45s :)
  19. I like the Timex Expedition series of watches. I have a GShock, but the band is uncomfortable.
