I guess more correctly it is the Enfield. That's my bad, always called it and referred to as the Springfield.

Swap out the trigger for a different one, it will make a world of difference.

I got this barreled action a year or so ago from a friends dad, who's dad had cut off the rear sight assembly. I've been working on finding the various parts it's missing and need a new stock for it. I'm really not looking for an original because I can't restore it to original condition. Does anyone know where to get a new sporter stock for one?

Yeah there's no issue putting a TQ on. As stated above you have several hours before the probability of loss of limb or tissue damage goes up. Further from where he is he's at most 15 minutes from an ER, so non issue.

Here's something I did for a neighbor of mine yesterday. Not quite the same point but it's in the same vein at least. Short explanation is he wanted a sleeve for his backup magazine to keep lint out of it. This was my solution plus the tie down so if the magazine is needed the sleeve doesn't Murphy's Law itself on.
