I don't disagree on your take here. Still might get an AR Pistol and also a brace and just put the brace back and not put it on. Just incase everything goes south one of these days.
-
Been think about getting one, but I will probably hold off. I think they make a handy firearm, though! Actually, I don't think the pistols will go away, but I do think we are about to see a crackdown on braces and drum mags. Those may well go the way of the Dodo bird and the bump stock.

Looks like the TN ammo tax has been repealed
Moped replied to Jason in TN's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Actually, think it's kinda sad that the TWRA lost this revenue stream. I was quite happy to pay that 10 cents on a box of ammunition. -
Never was a fan of the Tapco Mags. I kinda liked the fixed 10 rounders, myself.
-
That's not a bad price. I see used ones around here, going for that and they are all ragged out. I've had a couple over the years. Good, reliable shooters. The stocks on both were too short for me. I needed at least another inch or two at the butt. The pull was just too short. Still, I wish had at least one of them back.

Yeah, I really do think it's somwhat of niche Pistol. I always like the Browning BDA/Berreta 84 pistols with their sleek lines and high capacity. I think S&W would have done this pistol justice, by increasing the mag capacity.
-
I'm trying hard to dislike this pistol, but it's growing on me. Just don't know if I want a .380 in this size. when there are 9mms and .45acps basically the same size. I just fail to see the advantages, especially with only an 8 round mag. I'd have really have liked to see it with in a double stack.

Man, my 67A loves any .22 you can fit in the chamber. Most people don't shot shorts anymore, b ut I have a lot of fun with them. It loves even those. And like everyone else states, it's a surprisingly accurate rifle! Great as a woods gun!!!

I’d look for a Marlin or a Rossi in either .357 or .44 mag. Not a fan of Winchesters. I’ve had a couple of Marlin and Winchesters in 30/30. Just never liked the caliber and didn’t like the way the Winchester worked. Love Henrys, but if you are looking for traditional, Henry doesn’t fall into that category. However they make a beautiful rifle, especially their Big Boy Steel Rifles!

They made a peep sight for them too. It just replaced the dovetailed rear notched sght. I have a spare barrelled receiver with one on it. Before anyone askes, I'm not looking to get sell it. My eyes are getting old too, just like the rest of you!

Anybody built Sten from scrap steel?
Moped replied to Quavodus's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
STENS were fairly crude. I was fortunate to get to play with one about 25 years ago and it was a blast, literially. But the fit and finish are all war time with minimal sights. the rear side was basically a L-shaped piece of steel with a hole cut in it in and then tack welded to the steel round reciever. The front sight, as I remember it was made the same, with the top side cut into a V. Seems like it was tack welded onto the receiver as well. The only safety was pulling the bolt back and then turning it about 15 degrees, so that the charging handle slid into a notch, cut into a receiver. The finish looked like it was painted on with a used brush. Very crudely made, but it ran like a singer sewing machine!!! Just remember that there may be legal ramifications to producing one. -
Just because they are in current production, doesn't necessarily make them a better option. There are lots of older firearms that are just as good and certainly cheaper on the budget. Ruger has to be the most puzzling firearms company going, though. Seems like they make a semi Auto for five or so years and then drop it from production, regardless of the success (the LCP seemingly being the lone exception). The model mentioned above is a good case in point. The LC9s is another great example. And why do they continue to sale pistols with only one mag? That drives me crazy!
-
Yeet Cannon! I might have to get one. Some other cheap, American made pistols are the Ruger LCP and LCPII, and the Charter Arms line of revolvers, many of which can be found for under $300.
-
That would probably be negative. But single actions have been around so long that just about everyone that's been around firearms, know how to adjust one out.
-
FORO is not a problem for me. My normal carry is a Ruger LCP and two extra 6 round mags or a S&W 442 with two speed strips or a SA XDs. .45ACP loaded with 6 rounds and 2 extra 7 round mags. So usually I'm looking at 15, 19 or 20 Rounds. This feels adequete for me.

Hard to beat 1095 Carbon steel, coated with a durable finish. Ka-bars are built like tanks!

Look Mr. GQ, you need to fatten up like the rest of us huskey old farts! Don't come around here bragging about being skinny. We don't want to hear it!!! Seriously, I work with a bunch of nerds (translated Engineers) and one of them wears tactical pants and button downs all the time. It's not a bad look at all. No sports coat though.

We do not typically worry about Hurricanes here in TN. When they get this far North, they are at best Tropical Depressions and moving fast. Therefore in the rural counties, building codes and zoning laws can be very lax. If you want stricter codes and zoning, look at the more metropolitan areas of Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville or Memphis. From your original post it seems you are looking in the lesser populated areas. Perhaps, areas like Jackson, Johnson City, Manchester or Morristown might be more suitable.

Depends on the caliber and type! I'd work for a box an hour. Of course, then you have other products like firearms and optics! LOL!

I might consider working part time at a gun store, when I retire! They could just pay me in product!

Had 300+ in the first PT111G2 without a hiccup, before trading it away. Working on 700 on the second one, with no hiccups. Just gave it to my son. The 627 only has 50 mixed rounds of .357 and .38 through it. The on thing I dislike about the PT111 is the plastic sights, but I haven't had an issue with it. Just wish they were steel or aluminum. No, not a bunch of rounds. But enough that I was comfortable carrying them from time to time. Probably about normal for about 90% of firearms made and sold here in the USA. I don't go shooting everyday like some that seem to have unlimited resources. One a every month or two on average. Sometimes a little more sometimes a little less. Have you seen a lot of the G2s sent back? Or are you describing older ones too? How about the revolvers? What shop do you work at or own? If they are not good quality firearms, why sell them?

Actually, I’ve had two of the little PT111 G2s and both have been excellent pistols. I also bought a 627 .357, that I really like as well. Fit and finish isn’t a S&W, but I paid half of what I would have paid for a 686. I’m happy with it. I also have a .44mag in lay-a-way right now too.

They are hit or miss. I for one appreciate what he has put out about the Spectrum. You are free to to not read and move along.

I have no issue with this. This is something the NRA should probablysupport and get lead the way on! https://www.yahoo.com/news/texas-approves-safe-gun-storage-campaign-over-nra-192429677.html
