Just a little info for those that may care. There are 3 basic grades of beef you can purchase. Prime, choice, select. Each grade has a yield grade of 1,2,or3. If it is prime or choice it will say so somewhere as the price is higher and processors want you to know if it prime or choice. A few years ago the USDA changed the grading in response to the consumer wanting leaner beef. If you think meat is not as good as it used to be you are correct. If there are no labels showing the grade it is select at best. Never, never, never buy meat off the back of a pickup. They sell it based on the number of pieces not by the pound. You end up paying way more than you should per pound. Large processors move their steers to feeder lots for the last 6 months and feed them grain( grain fed beef) the quality of grain gets better as they move through the feeder lots. The idea is to flush the grass out of the system with a diet of grain. Each steer takes the grain a little different than the next(thus the need for grading) Make sure you trust the person if you buy a half or quarter of beef. It is very easy to pull some high end cuts without anyone knowing. They should be willing to weigh the beef before and after, adding some for packaging.

Very few people know how to process any kind of meat that does not come in a box. My first job was in a old fashioned meat shop. We had saw dust on the floor and everything was cut by hand. If you wanted a ribeye steak we would have to take a front quarter break it done, bone the rib out and then cut the steak. I bet you could walk in 25 grocery stores and be hard pressed to find someone that can do that. I went to work for a wholesale meat company and I had a customer that bought a 4h beef every year and he had nobody in his 3 stores that new what to do with the quartered beef. I went up there every year and processed it for him. Don't want to do it for a living but do miss the days when meat cutting was a art.

I cut meat for 15 years and helped out some of my hunting buddies in processing their kills. Not a big deal about a 30 min. job once cleaned and quartered. These days finding someone even in the meat business that knows what to do with a whole carcas is hard to do. I am one of those guys that would never let someone else process a beef for me, way to particular about how things are done.

TN Parent Arrested Trying to Pick Up His Own Kids
45guy replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Once school is over walking up and picking up a child they are considered a walker. Signing the form that would allow the child to walk with the father is all he needed to do. My kids school has a similar plan. After a certain time checking them out is not a option they either get on a bus or they are a car rider or a walker. There are no other options. The over reaction of the officer was unfortunate but both parties could have done better. The power LE has to make ones life miserable is often abused. -
Foruntly the extreme these cops went to is unusual but the attitude of get something on their target at all cost is fairly common. Emotions get out of control and the cop code keeps cooler heads from stepping in. When cops will not police themselves (the code) then the power becomes out of control. My experience has been that cops will lie for each other and tell any lie for a conviction, so whose to stop them from doing whatever they want.

Lowbuster, not sure anyone here is saying everyone that receives assistance is a leach but saying the abuse is not widespread is not accurate either. I spent many years in the grocery business and saw many questionable circumstances involving what used to be food stamps now EBT cards. Things like people selling the stamps, buying a banana just to get the change. I have seen folks with 2 shopping carts,1 for the EBT and 1 for the cash purchases. The things they had in the cash buggy made one wonder if they really needed help at all. As a member of a charitable organization that try's to help those in need I can tell you this 8 out of 10 calls from people needing help that I looked into did not really need more money. I have story after story of people that contacted us that lived better than I did. They spent the limited funds they had coming in on things they could not get someone to give them and then asked for help on things like the electric bill or groceries. I cannot count the times folks called and asked for money to buy food and when we offered to meet them at the store and buy them something they did not show up. The problem is how do you identify those that just need a temporary hand up from those that have decided to take advantage of the the systems? Do you give to everybody just to make sure those that really need help get some or do you make it more difficult to get help and miss some of those that really need it? As the parent of a special needs child we have been offered "free services" over the years. I could not accept these because we can afford to pay for them, but that was not a concern to those that were offering. As one lady put it when I questioned her about this " we'll get you qualified". The folks here probably have many of the same experiences as I have. We are not calling everybody that needs help a leach but this country has raised up a generation of people that have no desire to be a productive member of society but live off the backs of others. I hope you continue to get better.

The NBC/ Wall Street journal poll had a 12 percent more dem than repub sampling. They also had a 20 percent sampling of government employees when nationally only about 8 percent of the country are gov. employees. Point is if you ask the right people you can get what ever result you want. I remember when Bush went under 40 percent it was on every news cast nightly. My message to the politicians ignore the polls just do the right thing.

I am not as good as I once was but I am good once as I ever was.

Erwin is as stated back there a ways. I know they hung a elephant with a crane once. I saw a old newspaper picture of it. I think the elephant escaped during a circus and killed someone so the good folks in Erwin took a crane and hung the elephant. Not sure what that says about the town but sure is a good story. I think Raoul has it correct on the story about the sheriff.

I just completed my first AR build. I installed the trigger screw that was being sold on TGO forums. Here is the problem. The hammer will not reset after a shot. The next round is in the chamber but I have to charge the hammer to fire. I was wondering if I needed to back the trigger screw out a little more, I did the quarter turn as the instructions said. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have one to sell but I use one every day. The best battery ever on a phone. I hardly ever have to charge it during the day, all others 2 pm at best before needing charged. Love the phone. Good luck picking one up.

2 t shirts, 1 says "DADD dads against daughters dating. Shoot the first one and the word gets around" 2nd says "Homeland defense begins with the second amendment" with a pic of a hand gun.

Some states have very good LLC protection. Nevada is one I think Mass. Is another. You can get a LLC from them and have much more protection. Do a google on best state to file a LLC in.

Good for you. If that person goes on to break into someone's house and kills them you can feel real good about nobody saying what you did or did not do was wrong. I am sure your neighbors feel good knowing you will do everything possible to help them as long as you do not have to get out of your truck.

Zimmerman Trial: Verdict Reached!
45guy replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I do not think Z was a brawler or emboldened by having his gun. I really do not think he thought there would be a confrontation. Many times the best way to keep someone from doing something illegal is for them to think they are being watched. Most of the time the person being watched goes on about his business knowing he was doing nothing wrong or they move on to a different location where they are not being watched. I have done this many times with shoplifters or those I thought were shoplifting. -
He probably thought he was doing what was expected of him as community watch leader. If you think getting out of his truck makes him a fool then that's your call, I do not. I do not know Z so I cannot say he is a fool, nor do I know TM so the same applies. Hopefully you never make a call that thousands of people will dissect every little move you made and determine what a fool you are.

Zimmerman Trial: Verdict Reached!

Maybe you all heard something I did not. I listened to the 911 call while Z was out walking around, it did not sound like he was running or trying to chase someone down. He was talking calmly about what was going on. When did the chasing take place? -
If it makes any of you feel any better Z's life will never be the same. He will pay for his choices for the rest of his life, always looking over his shoulder, never at peace. I doubt he will ever be able to pay for his legal expenses as it is more less those in the future. Maybe you get some satisfaction from that, I don't. Some say the system worked, I say no it didn't. Charges that should have never been filled were, that tells me the system did not work. Yea Z was Found not guilty but in the court of public opinion he has been ruined. If he were to try and cash in, who would promote him. I cannot see anybody other than some conservative media folks allowing him to promote whatever he is trying to sell. Can you see him going on a job interview? How is he supposed to provide for his family now? I would contribute to a Z fund or buy his book just because I feel bad that his life has been ruined. If it gives some of you satisfaction that his life has been ruined, I truly feel sorry for you as well.

If you are not doing anything wrong you would care less if someone was keeping an eye on you. I have been in retail stores and someone over the intercom says "security scan section whatever" we'll I could care less because I am not stealing anything, but the shoplifter will respond much differently. Those doing something wrong tend to get angry when they get caught. Follow me all you want, watch me all you want. I would only care if I was doing something I did not want others to see.

I was with a guy that did the brake check to a tailgater and was ticketed for causing a accident. Purposely irritating someone just because you can never has made any sense to me. Sometimes when you try to teach someone else a lesson you learn one yourself.

My wife worked for a manufacturing comp. for 16 years. The Feds would come in from time to time and fine them a 100 grand for this or that. It's was a non union low paying company. It was still cheaper to buy china made products. They adjusted the quality so there was no difference from what was made here. The lead time in ordering was the biggest problem. Gov. Regs, insurance, and all the other forced expenses on this company forced them to go from 70+ employees to 10 or 12.

I do not say never very often but if I ever half to start mowing my yard again I will buy a z turn. Home owner use should be 20 plus years. The time it will save you is much more valuable. I can see no reason to ever buy a tractor style mower again. You can find a deal on a new z turn and get 90 days same as cash at least maybe longer. GO WITH A Z TURN. If it is just not in the cards pick up a used good name rider for under a grand and save up for a better mower. I sold a Snapper 18hp with 800 hrs. for $400 a few months ago. Had the mower for 22 yrs. Good mowers at decent prices are out there.

Ok,ok before you bible scholars get started, I guess one could say that Mary was artificially inseminated, but not by a medical procedure so I think I am still correct on that and Abraham used a surrogate mother for his first born but that still took him knowing her (OS would say the old in and out). I'm going to bed, good night.
