  1. Hi guys, searched and didn't find what I was looking for here. Do any of you that attend church that has a security team know if there are rifles used anywhere? The reason I ask is as you know it is 6 times harder to accurately shoot a handgun versus a rifle. I know of 1 church that has a couple of men in their vehicles in the parking lot in strategic places where they can view the entrances that carry AR's. If you think about it, a van or 4 door pickup could pull up and out jump 4-6 armed assailants and things could go very wrong very quick. Just asking to see if a rifle or 2 in the right places would help strengthen the security? For instance if a shooter happens to come in unnoticed with a concealed handgun or some concealeable gun and be close to the front of the church and the security were say towards the back of the church the distance could be 25 yards maybe more. Just thinking aloud and wanting your opinions. Thanks
  2. I am sure everyone is watching this story unfold in Virginia. Let us pray that no one is injured in this rally. But also remember that the Revolutionary war was started because of the 1774 ban on gunpowder and the 1774-1775 confiscation of guns and gunpowder by the British. I was looking at some film clips of this mornings rally and noticed that all the police had these evil black rifles, how fitting. They use guns to keep the people from having guns??
  3. Well I guess I will put in my 2 cents. I am for constitutional carry. To me the 2nd amendment says I have the right to keep and bear arms and that it shall not be infringed. Duh what in that says I can't carry a concealed gun or 2 without the governments okay, charging me a fee to do so?? I will say that there are a lot, maybe even the majority of gun owners that are not safe with a gun. I have seen plenty of hunters handle a firearm unsafely, I bet you all can think of a time or 2 also. I don't have the answers, but I believe Dave TN has the right idea, every, let me repeat every gun owner and every person that carry's owes everyone that is around them to be competent in the firearm they choose to carry. I know most of you have seen the cop that was in a school or some meeting showing his proficiency with his Glock when he shot himself. Really it is people like that they shouldn't be toting a hawg leg around!! Makes all the proficient people looks like a bunch of bubba's that don't know gun safety. I apologize if your name is bubba. I have a good friend and that is his nickname.
  4. Will pray for you Grayfox. Like I always say, if I had known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of my body. But that is a lie because I would have done the same stunts. Hope you get to feeling better.
  5. We have lived here for 5 years and are still exploring this part of Tn. We always vacationed in the Smoky mountains, but we really feel that this part of Tn. near Dale Hollow lake is prettier by far and none of the traffic jams.
  6. From what I read about 20 minutes is average for police to get there. A .40 cal will get to the point at 1,000+ FPS. My SIL is a preacher and carry's a .45 Kimber on him every day. What is the old saying better to have it and not need it as need it and not have it. One of the reasons for us joining our church was the security team. Prayers for all involved.
  7. Oh btw, the real old woodworkers usually have a finger or part of one missing. LOL On the serious side though be careful, wood dust will kill you for sure. Have fun.
  8. Hey Greg, I have done a fair amount of woodworking, simple joinery though. Take a look on Youtube a guy named Steve Ramsey titled Make this box joint jig. I like his videos btw.
  9. I was expecting at least 1 person to say wedding ring. LOL My bad, I didn't correctly read the title.
  10. I have long ago said a firearm without ammo isn't even a good club. A 2 iron or baseball bat is much more effective. Slick Willy & Al I invented the internet Gore got me into reloading and I have been casting for 15+ years. It is nice to load .38 and .40 for less than it costs to buy .22lr.
  11. Merry Christmas all. Let us not forget what this season is really about. A virgin born savior that came to save the world, died on a cross and rose the 3rd day!! Happy Birthday Jesus!!
  12. However you may be sleeping on the couch after Christmas. It's your call guys!!
  13. I'm sorry that anyone has to die over drugs. That being said I am 67 and there has been a so called "war on drugs" for about 55+ years of my life. If the drug dealers are smart they will just pay off more people in the LEO and judicial system and go on as usual. Do you realize how many people are making money other than the drug dealers?? All these drug task forces seize a whole lot of money just out there on the west bound side of I-40, and they get to keep it to make their task force larger. There is a war on drugs like I am a award winning brain surgeon!!
  14. Doesn't this quote from the FBI make you feel so much safer?? Unbelievable.
  15. Well I did a little more research and it appears that the shooter legally purchased the Glock handgun in Florida because he possessed a FLorida hunting license, which I find crazy as he isn't a U.S. citizen or resident?? FBI is tight lipped.
  16. Well I wasn't aware that we had mall cops at the base checkpoints, why would we hire mall cops when we have an armed military police?? My daughter and family went to see the Blue Angels at this base about a month or so ago, my SIL who is retired Air Force and has his CCW opted to leave his carry gun in his truck, they were in a different vehicle. My daughter said they were very strict as to what you could or couldn't take and it wasn't much, but that was to get into area to see the planes. Maybe if you are from Saudi Arabia you get special treatment who knows. For those in the know, do we have mall cops guarding us at night while we sleep? If so I will start sleeping with 1 eye open and a gun in my hand.
  17. I am still amazed that the sheriff's department had to take care of this situation. I would think the MP's who should be much more familiar with the layout of the base would have been the first responders. It would be similar to me waiting 45 minutes for the sheriff to arrive at my house in the middle of the night for a home invasion. I think I know my home layout better and can handle it much quicker.
  18. That is a fact, also most don't know offshore Kalifornia has lots of oil, but you know they don't want US drilling on their turf!! That is a very good question Greg that I would like someone in the gubbermint to answer. Sort of like Hussein Obama giving Iran all the millions of $$$, I guess to fund their fight with U.S.? I hope sometime soon, somebody gets the drift that the terrorist's don't like U.S.
  19. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pensacola-shooting-today-3-people-killed-shooter-dead-at-florida-navy-base-nas-pensacola-2019-12-06/ I don't know if anyone was following this or not. What I thought very odd was the fact that the local sheriff's are the ones that took care of the situation. A military base with armed MP's on duty and the sheriff deputys handled it??
  20. Good morning all. Today is the 78th anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor. To all you vets out there, a great big thanks. You are not forgotten and your service is appreciated. It is the reason we sleep well at night because we know someone stands guard each and every night.
  21. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I have a lot to be thankful for. I think we take for granted this beautiful, FREE country we live in. Let us not forget the vets that paid for this free country. A huge thank you to all vets!!
  22. When I was about 9 my dad and me went to a friends house and he had a sow with piglets, well they had went around the barn lot and like an idiot that hadn't been around hogs I climbed the fence and was about 1/2 way across when the friend hollered for me to get the heck out of the pen, about that time I heard the sow grunting, a 9 year old can run fast when needed. A side story a hunting partner shot a hog in the head with a .243 she went out of sight and he trailer her for 1,000 yards or more and said the heck with it, about 10 days late same hog came in and this time he shot her with a 7 mag and she went about 40 yards into the brush, she had little pigs with her btw. Well he decided to sit for an hour or so as he was deer hunting, when he started to get down he picked off a couple of the piglets and when he went to the sow, the piglets had eaten about a bowling ball sized hunk of meat out of her. They will eat ANYTHING!! As Troy Landry would say Chootem Jacob!!
  23. So true. I have heard that we are just 1 breath away from our "stuff" being somebody else's "stuff"
  24. That is an understatement. I like most are over the hill, but I can still see some of the top!! I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren, but they all have guns of their own. But I think I will at least leave 1 to each of them. I know a fellow who had all the clan come for some occasion and he took all of his guns that he was going to give them and put a number on each 1 and had a corresponding number in a hat, you pick a number and bingo that is your gun, no fighting that Bob got a nicer gun than me. I thought that a very democratic way to handle things. Now on a lighter note. Happy Thanksgiving to all, we have been blessed beyond measure!!
  25. Just guessing Jeaux is a cajun name for Joe!! Like Breaux Bridge, Louisiana that is pronounced Bro Bridge.
