  1. I would not be at all surprised it they didn't add a "special" hunting season!! I am still in shock that the TWRA charges people who are blind, in wheel chairs and disabled vets to hunt and fish. Albeit the charge is $10 for life, I think that is scraping the bottom of the barrel. Just my opinion.
  2. Hey Greg, just curious but do you gather them and eat them? Or were you just noticing there wasn't many? I was looking online and several people say the shagbark or we called them scaly bark hickory have the best tasting nuts. Got some closeby and going to try some.
  3. Looks like a new book to read. Yea I have read a lot of accounts where the victim was stunned for a time before their brain engaged and said hey dummy it's you or the bad guy, which shall it be.
  4. Pretty cool, I too would like to know the story behind the lighter. I often think about all those men that died or were injured for life in that far away land that I don't think we had a dog in that hunt. I was planning on an Air Force career, but my heart wasn't in that police action and I had a high draft number. But I do salute all those that went either volunteer or draft. Thank you guys and gals for your service to this Great country!!
  5. Hey Greg I happened to go for a stroll in the woods this morning and the ground was covered with acorns and hickory nuts. Your trees may not produce much this year or the tree rats got them already. Just happened to think about your thread.
  6. I saw reviews a guy said it ran great in his PMR-30 and another in a Browning A-bolt rifle. Thought I would pass along the good pricing.
  7. Hey guys I saw on ammoseek this morning .40 gr Armscor 22wmr nickel plated for $58.99 for 500 rounds, have good reviews. That is 11.8 cents each plus shipping. Surplus ammo is the retailer.
  8. Speaking of golf just how many golf clubs does one need to only hit 1 ball????? According to the USGA a golfer is entitled to no more than 14 clubs. Most golfers have at least 2 sets so that is 28 clubs. Now if you have less than 28 guns I say you should go get more!! And all those clubs to hit 1 ball, if you don't put it into the woods or water you can keep using that 1 ball for a whole year!! And we have to shoot all those many thousands of bullets with just 1 gun? That doesn't seem right does it??
  9. Thanks Huhgd, you know it is pretty bad when we can't trust load data manuals. I can understand some bad data from the 'net but this is crazy. That is why I stopped after the chrono gave me higher fps than the max load was showing. I may be contacting some load manual people to see if they can steer me to the correct data.
  10. They will tear up your yard like a bunch of hogs will. Shoot them at will. We had them in Mississippi, haven't seen any up here yet and that is good with me. We haven't seen any fire ants either and certainly don't want them at all!!!
  11. Thanks Bill, I am very cautious about reloading and don't believe anything I hear and not much I see. As evidence of what my Speer manual showed. If anybody has access to other reloading manuals and see something different, let me know. I don't want to pull these loaded rounds apart, but I surely will.
  12. All the squirrels around here may have come over and got them.
  13. Must sell slow, just looked and it was 3813.
  14. Hi guys, I have been loading 10mm for awhile using 800-x powder, but recently got some AA#7 to load some .357 and saw some load data for 10mm. The question I have is my Speer #12 manual lists AA#7 11.0 gr start with a 1065FPS, 12.0 max at 1180FPS using 180 gold dot bullet. The test gun was a 5" S&W 1006 pistol according to book. So I load up several rounds using 11.0-12.0 in .2gr increments and head to the chronograph. Only difference I used 180 gr Hornady XTP bullets and fired from a S&W 610 revolver 3.875 and shooting the start load of 11.0 I fired 3 shots 1266, 1275, 1260FPS. The primers looked ok, but I quit shooting because my speed was close to 80FPS over what they showed with a 12.0 max load. Anyone have any data or has shot this load? I am developing this as a deer round in case I get one into bow range. Thanks for any info, I have searched quite a bit on the net. I would rather not blow up my 610 and prefer leaving the range with all the fingers and toes I came there with.
  15. Apparently they are elected to become multi-millionaires by doing absolutely NO WORK!!
  16. Since I have only lived in Tn. for 5 years would someone enlighten me on why they use TBI instead of FBI for background checks?? Seems the Federal system would have more information on a person, regardless if they are a felon or not. Plus in my previous state of Mississippi the background check was FREE!!
  17. My pastor told me about this last Thursday and I forgot to add it to the sight. Believe it or not there is already somebody that is opposing this. I believe that this is a very commendable thing that our Governor is going to proclaim. For those that don't believe in prayer, then make it like any other day. But for the majority that believe in prayer, I am happy to say to people from outside the state that our Governor has seen that God answers prayers. One of my favorite verses is 2nd Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Folks I truly believe that part of the reason that all of the school shootings have taken place is because we allowed the liberal left to basically ban God from our schools. Won't you join in praying for our state and country? This great country is full of hate right now, and the only thing to combat hate is Love.
  18. It’s probably worth the few hundred bucks it’ll cost just to put a professional in as a buffer between you and someone you’ve got a relationship with. They’ll take the “personal” out of it and just get the deal done. As Joe Friday used to put it, "the facts ma'am just the facts."
  19. Sorry to say, but more than likely any person that may have been like these 3 were aborted over the years. From 1970 -2015 the CDC says about 45.7 million babies have been aborted. Very possible there were doctors and scientists that could have found the cure for cancer and unknown other diseases. Presidents, senators, congressmen, supreme court justices and the list goes on and on and on.
  20. I know they are scared of losing them. I will probably receive a bunch of flak for this comment, but as my wife has told me I don't know when to shut up sometimes. I was an NRA member for many years, but I kind of saw between the lines, all a member is to them is membership dues dollars and a contact to ask for more free money. Kind of the way I feel about politicians, for years the Dems and Repubs have been pointing fingers at the other saying it's their fault, basically batting the ball back forth like a game of badmitton. And we taxpayers are paying for them to "play". I feel the NRA has been doing the same thing to an extent. You know what they always say, follow the money. If there is a big pile of money, somebody is trying to figure out how to skim more than their fare share.
  21. Nope, Only calls we get is what I call beggars, sales people trying to get my hard earned money into their hands. My answer to them is I don't want it, need it or a simple. Click
  22. Wingshooter, wipe the glue off of your fingers!! LOL I am like Dave, if the right people were heading up the war on drugs it would be different. I am almost 67 and there has been a so called war on drugs for 55-60 years, not much success. If judicial system would listen to me with in 90 days you would have to grow or make it yourself because nobody would dare be caught with any amount of any controlled substance. Some may remember the kid that spray painted the car in Singapore in the 80's and they caned him, it was a big news deal because he was from the U.S. I would wager that he has never even thought about spraying another car. My suggestion would put people to work, have a professional caner(s) at each county courthouse and carry out the sentencing quickly within 48 hours of arrest. Nickle and dime drug dealer with x amount of meth, have a 1st time 5 licks, 2 time 10 licks, 3rd time hang him from a limb. Case closed he won't sell any more dope. Make the punishment fit the crime, think it won't work? I say let's implement it and see if it doesn't work. Oh Johnny boy that got 5 licks of the cane, you could pull an 18 wheeler full of dope in his front yard and the first thing he would be doing is calling 911 and explaining that it ain't his dope, but he knows whose it is. I really don't think most Americans realize how serious this drug problem is, plus since a lot of it comes across our southern border, if there isn't any market for the crap you got, you ain't going to go the trouble of bringing that crap here. Rant over for the time being.
  23. I had to contribute to this, about 5 years ago I had been seeing a skunk in my barn if I went out there at night and turned a light on, had been carrying my Browning Buckmark and had laid it down which was mistake #1 and had went 10-12 feet away and guess what? Ole Peppy LaPew came strolling in from the Browning side of the barn, I retreated onto a pile of firewood and when he got close I did the standing long jump, retrieved the Browning and shot him. That was in my younger days. LOL I might have been out on the road a wee bit too long. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Do ya think???
  24. I am from Mississippi and evidently the hunters in this neck of the woods don't dove hunt like they did down south. It was a family tradition to hunt doves on opening day, maybe a few time afterwards. I like most hunting, but enjoy doves the most. You don't have to be quiet, you usually don't have to freeze your _utt off. And the very best part is if you wrap a piece of delicious bacon around the little dove breast and place it on your grille for a few minutes, you will have some mighty fine eating!!
  25. Yea, I clicked on it in hopes of finding a new recipe. I'm sorry but that's funny right there. BTW there are a bunch here on Dale Hollow, watched 1 back in the spring, but couldn't get a decent pic with my phone. I saw a show years back, it said look for the ball. Look in the tree's near rivers and lakes and look for the white baseball sized head of an adult. First one I spotted here on Dale, we were tooling around on the toon and sure enough I spotted the ball and it had a yearling chick with it which didn't have the white head.
