  1. Y'all know my love of lever guns. I honestly don't know why, but lever actions have become very popular and much more expensive in the last few years. I'd love to add a Winchester 73 clone to my collection. But every one I see is priced well over $1000. There's currently two levers on the Memphis Armslist. A Winchester 94 Wrangler in .30-30 @ $1000 and a NIB Marlin .357 SS @ $1290. . I'd like to have the Winchester, but that's more than I can spend for it.
  2. I'm like you. I want one, but can't find one. Everything I've read about them has been positive. That includes posts on various gun boards by people who have actually gotten one. However, I do want to get one in my own hands to see for myself.
  3. To me, she'll always be that feisty, foul mouthed old lady feeding the crocs in Lake Placid. She was great in that part. Lots of people were planning big things for her birthday. A real shame she won't get to see it. RIP Betty and thanks for all the laughs.
  4. I don't see a problem here. What are you talking about?
  5. He probably won't be charged. But he will be punishing himself for the rest of his life.
  6. The gang life starts early. Older members recruit juveniles to do their dirty work because that know if they get caught they'll probably get off with little or no time. These two were stupid enough to show off on social media. They got themselves caught.
  7. Back when I was a boy, every kid had a bunch of toy guns and just about every store carried caps. I well remember the days of "Cowboys and Indians" and playing "War". I remember being about 5 when for Christmas I got a full Cowboy outfit . Hat. shirt, boots and a double holstered pair of cap guns just like that. Anybody remember the Mattel Fanner 50 and Lever guns that had Greenie Stick 'em Caps and "Shootin' Shells"? We had tons of toy guns back in the 1960s. Mattel's Tommy Gun was very popular. I had a toy Browning 1919 machine gun that ran on 2 "D" cell batteries and made sounds when fired. One of my friends had a spring powered Bazooka that fired plastic rockets. Military guns were just as popular as the cowboy stuff. And yet, none of us grew up to be mass murderers. Imagine that.
  8. He has a much higher opinion of McDonalds than I do. I think that S&W is closer to a nice sit down restaurant like Longhorn Steak House. I also think much higher of Springfield Armory. I ate at Panera Bread once. Never bothered to go back. I own a bunch of Springfields. Kimbers are overrated and over priced. I like IHOP and their prices are reasonable. No comparison at all.
  9. Interesting, but I can't say I completely agree with him.
  10. Savage is apparently doing well enough that they can increase their product line and try new things. That's called innovation. Good for them for at least trying.
  11. UPDATE: the sick young lady was sent home today. They kept her overnight, pumped her full of meds and gave her more to take home. She feels like crap, but apparently isn't sick enough to take up valuable bed space. That's a good sign. BTW: she was vaccinated.
  12. I'm hoping it is just a waste of my time. However, there have been reports of people having this #### and never showing any symptoms at all. But they can still spread it. I'm not going to take the chance that I may be one of those spreaders. I want to get tested so that I know. Besides, its only been a few days since Christmas. I might still get sick. The young lady I was exposed to is in the hospital. I don't have any details as of yet, so I'm not risking it.
  13. The vaccines aren't 100% effective. Especially against Omicron. I don't think I'll get bad sick or require hospitalization. Its just annoying. My real concern is that I might spread it to others. Can't get tested until Monday, Probably won't know the results until next Wednesday. So I'm just gonna go into hiding for now. I usually don't go much of anywhere anyway. But still, it pisses me off to be forced to have to stay home. Oh well, all I can really do is wait to see how it plays out.
  14. I had Christmas dinner with my oldest son, his room mates and a few of their friends. He called this morning to tell me that one young lady that was there has been admitted to the hospital with Covid. So far, other than a slight headache, I feel fine. I've had all three vaccines. But I am concerned. I can't get a test until next Monday. All the sites are booked solid. All the local drug stores are sold out of home tests. So I guess I'll just sit at home until I can find something out. Happy frakin' new year.
  15. Yep. And if she'd shot that gun like that she probably woulda ended up with the front sight in her forehead.
  16. I have owned a Savage 1907 and a 1917 in the past. If they do bring them back, I certainly hope they do update them. While they are classic pistols and feel great in your hand, they are a PITA to take apart, have a horrible trigger and are very difficult to shoot well. That's why I no longer have them.
  17. Some folks think that just because a Colt has a snake name that its worth a fortune. The Diamondback is an outstanding revolver well worth owning. I have a 4" .38 and a 6" .22. But they ain't worth near that much. .38 Diamond backs generally run in the $700-800 range. .22s are a bit more popular usually running around $1200-1400. But they ain't made of gold as some would want you to believe.
  18. Do fat burning pills really work? I always that they were just snake oil and never gave them any serious thought.
  19. Especially this time of year. Let's face it, from Thanksgiving to New Year should really be called the fat season. Over eating is the tradition. I think the #1 New Year's resolution is to lose weight. I know it'll be mine. We shall see what happens.
  20. I've got two huge oak trees in my back yard. Squirrels have lived in them as long as I can remember. They've never bothered the house, but I do find signs of them in the garage now and then. I usually drive my truck. So the car tends to sit for long periods. Went out one day just to check oil and such and found the whole top of the engine covered in a heavy layer of acorns. No damage I could find, but it took quite a while to clean up the mess. I check it a little more often now, but it seems they learned their lesson. At least I hope so.
  21. You would want one with a door the either slides or opens inward. Otherwise debris could block your exit. Wouldn't be a bad idea to keep and ax or sledge hammer in there either.
