  1. Understandable question; the fee is all inclusive, The DMV collects the admin fee for the State, the BG check is by the TBI, a State agency. I was also under the impression when I got mine...its been a minute, that there was an admin fee, a BG fee, and one for the fingerprints.
  2. Our compound flew ours at half staff today, but other than that very little coverage. Soon it will be like Armistice Day, Dec 7th, V-E Day, VJ Day etc etc.
  3. I don't know that it would do anything to it, but it would be an interesting experiment to do an airborne burst in the middle of one of these storms while still out to sea.
  4. I was planning on putting some feeders up next year, maybe I should put up a couple early.
  5. Was he using Winchester bullets in his M&P 9mm? Everyone knows you need to use Smith and Wesson bullets in an M&P, otherwise they go left.
  6. Yea, one will come up with stupid things to think about when one is bored. Mine? Ok, probably not possble...but: If a constant stream of aircraft flew through the storm, counter to it's rotation, would it slow the rotation? Since cold water adds fuel to a storm, would dragging icebergs into the gulf drop the temp enough to affect a storm. Ok, where are my guns and ammo? I need to get out more.

I've been eyeing those uppers, I keep deleting those emails but they keep sending them to tempt me. Now you take away my only defense by making it way too easy to setup a standard lower
  8. I have a permanent stand, now that I have my little honey hole it's all I need. But I still have a few other methods to hunt if I happen to hunt elsewhere. I have a small lock-on with some screw-in steps that I really like, I used it for years until I broke an ankle and didn't feel comfortable using it anymore. Then I got a climber, a bit on the heavy side but not unmanageable. I was never not able to find a tree to use it on, and if I fell asleep I would not fall out of it, unlike my lock-on. While they do make a little noise, I never failed to harvest deer with them. I also have a ladder stand, but haven't used it yet, I got it to bow hunt out of but my shoulder has not allowed me to get the practice I need to have before the hunt.
  9. I don't know, do you really need gas? I recall a simular conversation regarding overpriced generators for katrina, some considered that capitalism too.
  10. If you are talking mags for the 10/22, there are bigger ones from Ruger. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1366238525/ruger-bx-series-magazine-ruger-10-22-22-long-rifle-polymer
  11. Ok, so there are a myriad of feeders I have seen; Are there any that are preferred and others to avoid?
  12. Magpul came out with 300 Blk magazines and I noticed they were on sale so ordered 3, to see if they worked better than their normal AR mags. I haven't had a problem with any of the magazines I've tried but just in case. http://www.brownells.com/magazines/rifle-magazines/magazines/ar-15-300-blk-pmag-30-gen-m3-magazine-prod98446.aspx
  13. Probably, but I like it.
  14. I went to Denver on vacation a few months ago and decided to visit the Royal Gorge to see how the area was rebuilt after the fire. They had feeders setup all around and had a dominant one keeping all the rest away from "his" feeder. The bird darted all over the place and would sometimes hover inches away from you seeming to keep us away as well. It was real colorful so I guess it was male, there must of been 6-8 trying to get to the feeder so it kept him busy.
  15. If they eat mosquitos then I'm in!
  16. How did you guys attract them in the first place? I had wanted to put up some feeders but haven't seen any around here.

  18. No gun stickers here, mostly because they soon get old and look like poop. Our unit was advised to have us not put any unit affiliation stickers on our vehicles due to the ISIS hit list, I didn't have any but I do have a military plate. I haven't heard of anyone getting any negative attention due to a sticker, military, gun, or political, here in this area. Clarksville has had a bunch of vehicle break-ins lately (some guns stolen), but if I remember right most were left unlocked. So to me anyway, criminals are more likely to go for the easy score vs the harder score whether they think it may have a gun or not.
  19. Posted this in another thread, but it fits here too. I hope they all get shot like this:
  20. Honestly, I've never noticed any issues which lapping would help. The parts that I was more interested in getting was the ring alignment tools. I might just get this though: http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/sight-scope-installation-tools/scope-alignment-rods/sinclair-scope-alignment-tool-prod36960.aspx I figured if the rings are aligned correctly, the lapping would become even less needed.
  21. it's been years, but when I went I used a 12 gauge pump, Remington 1200 (2 3/4"), with 7 1/2 shot. only because I only own 12s. I have a Rem 870 but have yet to go Dove hunting with it because I have had a lousy time trying to find a good dove field. I use the clothespin decoys and depending on the field I clip them on whatever is better for a field of fire. No dog so have to retrieve myself, and with how rusty I am I probably won't be doing much of that
  22. I wrestled with where to place this, in the General area or here, So if it need be it can be moved there, but I was fascinated by this video, a piece of glass defeating a 38 Special. The glass is something of a novelty in scientific community and worth a look see as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_Rupert's_Drop This guy puts out a few other videos but not all gun related, but science(ish) related.
  23. Same here, I have all the peripherals except some of the lapping parts. At this point, it will probably be cheaper to just purchase the kit and sell the extra parts.
  24. Hope the rats didn't get him.
