  1. I'm kind of on the fence about rentals. One rental with ammo is usually about 15% of that purchase price. Have her pick the one that fits her hand and she can rack the slide on. Guns are tools, like hammers, with proper practice and training anyone can use either.
  2. Now you just need to get a really large machete(custom of course) and some sweet leather and strap it on. Wouldn't be right if you didn't have a sweet matching blade.
  3. I reload, bought 2 boxes of the perfecta 9mm for 6.94 just because. Also saw $9 .308 with 147fmj by same brand.

    Glock Teaser

That will piss me off. My only glock is a 29, just started carrying it...
  5. Got mine also. My first auto. I would consider this a modern version of a gentleman's knife. It's an attractive knife. Won't replace my benchmade 940 for EDC but I can see it making a trip to town as a dress up accessory on occasion. Now time to buy another larger EDC auto.
  6. Even thick leather will twist with a heavier gun. My little Kahr CM9 or 642 will work with anything. My G29 needs a stiff belt. A dedicated gunbelt is a must. I've got one from the best, Jerry Bissell. He retired but his nephew took over the biz after learning and he is doing as good of work as his uncle did. https://www.armourbelts.com

    Glock Teaser

I guess I'm the only one who hopes that the single stack is also available in .40.

    new long Gun

Could go halfway on speed and go with a pistol caliber rifle. Something like a lever gun in .357 and you can shoot .38's for low recoil target practice and come deer season or wow factor time you can shoot full house .357, plenty good for deer to about 150. Also consider the Ruger 77/357 if you wanted to keep it in the Ruger family. A gun he'll never outgrow would be a nice marlin 336 in 30-30.
  9. So when's that godson group buy starting :)
  10. Their lower is machined to match the Vltor mur upper profile. For me, I'd wait and get the parts from QC10. Too many variables in pistol AR configurations to chance it working with other manufacturers stuff. Only guys I would trust would be RMW or MaconArmory for a DI upper, but that is not in option in 9mm. I'll eventually get a .40 build done with a QC lower, .40 gets a good boost from barrel length also.
  11. I've never heard of that customAR place. I'd spend a few bucks more and go with a manufacturer of known quality. Fluting is nice for looks and mild weight reduction but not needed. Length of the free float has no effect on the barrel, the longer the better, provides a physical rest and protects the barrel and your hands. SPR rifles in actual use would have to be shot from non-traditional positions and from walls/ barriers, etc..., the long free float is a necessity, also had a bi-pod and the further out the bi-pod is the easier it is to adjust shooting position. As said, chasing an exact copy will cost money. Throw money at a barrel, trigger and good BCG, the rest can be filled in with less expensive stuff. Here's a link to a quality barrel from a company that produces quality barrels at a good price and are well known. They have others to choose from also. http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/gm-m24-5-56mm-nato-18/ Pick whatever 15" free-float handguard you can afford. For good quality and a solid mount I really like ALG. For the price it comes with barrel nut and wrench and can be installed with simple tools from home. http://algdefense.com/15-ergonomic-modular-rail-black.html Triggers are personal, inexpensive would be the RockRiver 2 stage. Geisslle on the higher end. I like the CMC trigger in the middle of the price range, mine breaks at 3.5# with a very short reset and no take up.
  12. Aa1680 will also make for a suitable supersonic replacement. I will interject with a lesson learned about running full house supers(lee 312-155 over 16grs) with pistol length gas and Lil Gun, after about 8k I burned up the gas tube at the port inside the gas block. This eventually turned my gun into a single shot. Replaced gas tube and good to go. Not sure if it's the heat generated or chemical composition or both.
  13. It's 2 separate guns with two separate triggers and 2 separate fire components. They are just machined together. Totally legal.
  14. Surprised nobody has recommended a SKS. Ammo can be had for $5-6 per 20. Hunting ammo available too. Plenty good for home defense and has "history". Guns are running $250-300 and 1k of ammo still can be had around $220. 7.62x39 been doing serious work for some time and isn't going anywhere. Edit: $10 per 100 ain't gonna happen anymore unless bought in bulk online. 9mm is the closest you'll come.
  15. I've learned the hard way about cheap adjustable gas blocks, never again. I've shot some with loctite loose in as little as 5 rounds. Had to drill/tap one as it wouldn't hold past one round. All mine have been since replaced with the SLR version, spendy but it works without fuss.
  16. How far have you shot that with the SeeAll sight? I've got an idea to use one as a offset sight on a AR with magnified optics. Also thought it'd be a good option for brush gun hunting rifle.

    ...

PTAC is PSA's bargain brand. I equate it to DPMS, Delton level stuff. I'd drop the extra coin personally($100+/-) and go with their Cold Hammer Forged barrels and premium bolts.
  18. Just stepped up, DW really is a step above most production guns in this price range. I love my full size melonited Valor.
  19. Simple answer, yes. Also adds a solid rest without affecting the barrel, which comes in very handy for shooting from cover, barriers, etc... Apply that to hunting or personal defense/offense. And you have repeatable results. PSA does have a couple good deals on their CHF(cold hammer forged) railed free float uppers.
  20. I run 1/8 in all my newer guns, but never drop below 55grn bullets. My best results as are many others are with bullets weighing 70 +grs and pushed hard.
  21. Those are 2 of the most classic loads for just about any cast boolit rifle from 30-30 and up. I had a similar rifle, except rebored by JES. Was a shooter but prefer my RemMax for cast.
  22. Pistol FCD & rifle FCD are two different creatures. The rifle FCD(collet crimp, no post sizing feature) is a great tool.
  23. Skip the FCD, it's a post fix to a pre isuue. I use the standard taper crimp die with all lee pistol dies except 45colt.
