I've got all of the guns I've bought myself, S&W 686 (?) 4" barrel (FBI model I believe), Ruger MkII bull barrel 22lr, 2 Anschutz 22lr rifles they made for about 3 yrs each (Kadett & youth model), all of these were purchased in the mid 80's before life got in the way and they stayed in the closet for close to 30 yrs. Also have a R700 varmint rig in 223 from the mid 90's, and then 3 "recent" purchases in the past 2 yrs, two 223's and a 204R rifles. I prefer long guns to short ones myself. I even have my dad's H&R single shot 20 ga from the late 60's/early 70's. I'll probably give all of these to the GS if he has any interest in this hobby.

Upgrades are the norm, good bad or indifferent, upgrade on.

It's not uncommon for the premiums to go up every renewal, that's why I try for annual premiums/renewals as it give them fewer opportunities to raise premiums. I shop around on a periodic basis, but most of the time I would only save $25-50 bucks over a yr, and sometimes you could end up with less coverage by switching companies because each companies policy and coverages vary slightly or a lot.

Sounds like if you get the 2nd notice then you gotta pay or face additional expenses. Correct ??

I got a ticket in Orlando FL for about 5-6mph over the limit around Mickey Mouse house. I was rolling with the flow of traffic but I had out of state tags. I asked the FHP why me when I was rolling with the flow of traffic, he said the out of state tags, won't contest it. Little did he know that I had "just" moved down to Orlando, so I took the time to contest it. I won, FHP guy was ticked when I told the judge what he said.

I got a "photo" ticket in Knoxville a couple yrs ago for a rolling stop, was $50 I think if I didn't contest it. I hate those letters. LOL

I wore toric hard lenses for 25+ years, loved them as I could wear them for 12-18 hrs/day, from the time I got up till I went to bed. I got them when I was 18-20 y/o, and wore them until I was 45-50. My prescription never changed, just new contacts when needed. I quit wearing contacts due to the ageing process, still wear glasses. I don't really miss them now as glasses are easier on a daily basis for the most part IMO. I did have to start wearing "cheaters" while still wearing the contacts to read all the paperwork I had to deal with. Never tried the soft ones due to my severe astigmatism, eye doctor said they looked like a "football" with a bad seam. LOL

I made one for ARA practice similar to Ugly's, but I used PVC pipe for the uprights, and some wood 1x3 or 4's for crossties (bolted on) to hold the target/backer board. I glued the legs (bases) together but the uprights come apart from the bases with a twist. All of it fits in my Sport Trac bed with all the other "stuff" I feel I need for this past time. Chances of hitting the legs is slim in this style of shooting, but I've seen it happen when someone was trying to zero a scope.

I would try mowing at a higher height on the 1st cut over the entire yard, then start over at a lower height (~1/2" difference). By the time you finish the 1st time, the area of the yard you mowed 1st should be dry enough to mow a bit lower. Gas is alot cheaper than a heat stroke, etc. I usually mow my front yard 2x's, I mow it first, then the rest of the yard. This allows the front grass to dry out any more (~1 hr or so) if needed, allows the shorter grass to "spring" back up straighter/taller due to it being taller (heavier) causing it to lay over, before being cut the 1st time. On the second cut, I mow in a different direction but at the same height (I have a commercial grade ZTR) so it's alot easier to change directions, etc.

Mowing that early is a big part of the problem. Need to wait till later in the day if all possible. It doesn't get dark until after 8, yes it's hotter then, but the grass is drier.

Used to have family picnics there back when I was growing up in that area. Never fished it, have heard it's a popular place for jet boats and kayaks, float tubes, etc. but don't know for sure.

Cool knife. Your buddy does very nice work. I saw this same style of knife made on "Forged in Fire", but don't think any of the finished blades looked that good.

It's fairly easy to make a "diy minnow aerator", just google whats in quotation marks and you'll get lots of hits & tips. I made one when I decided to try spider rigging for crappie, still out in the shed. I was able to keep minnows for several days, a few would die off daily but I bought like 3-4 dozen when I was experimenting. I used a fish tank aerator (110v) so that may/may not have had something to do with it. Keep the water you get when you buy the minnows, and then you need to "prepare" tap water to rid it of the chlorine which kills minners pretty quick. There are lots of good reviews of the Engle Bait cooler that the spider rigging guys rave about, they are a bit pricey but with the cost of minners, and you are dedicated to spider rigging, then it's $$ well spent. Using plastic for crappie is not hard, you just have to move the plastic bait a bit to give it "life" similar to a real minner if you are using 'em under a float or casting/retrieve the lure. I troll 99% of the time so I just have to find the right color and speed and depth the crappie are wanting that particular day. If you guys are after bass, well, no comment on that. LOL

"Minners" are a PITA. I avoid 'em at all costs and use plastics.

I have Ft Loudon Electric Co-op (FLEC) and signed up for auto-pay, where FLEC auto drafts my checking acct, no "convenience fee" is charged or noted on my monthly bills. A lot of places have a "convenience" fee which covers their processing fees for these convenience fees, such as what a retailer has to pay a credit card company their X% whenever someone uses a CC to pay for their items. TWRA has one when you renew your fishing/hunting license at wally world or on line.

I suggest you find some new homes FS that you like, then talk to the builder to discuss some prices/options. If the builder can build one that is "pre-sold", it may be a bit cheaper $$ wise or you get a few upgrades, etc., maybe a "freebie" or two but it really depends on the market. And be prepared to be total frustrated with the builder no matter what they appear to be while just talking to them. They are two entirely different people (split personality ???) from the "discussion" phase to after you've signed the contract/building phase. GL in your search.

Went back to ORSA 4/25 to help break down all the benches from the weekend matches (Sunday/ABRA got rained out) and to try out my DIY bench I made for ARA practice since I don't have access to the benches used in the matches. After getting all 19 benches put up in the storage shed, I set my bench up and ARA rig up, and started testing some different brands of ammo since I've gotten most of the tracking issues between my rifle and front rest/rear bag resolved. Shot some pretty good groups with the best being ~.20", worst at ~.60" for 5 shot groups. Groups don't mean squat in ARA matches tho. LOL. Still a good day as my DIY bench worked out well, and gained a bit more knowledge about the ARA game.

I would go to Bass Pro and try on some of the rain gear, they have different weights/materials, might find something. OP doesn't say what "training" consisted of, so some rain pants with a cordura exterior should hold up well. I have a Aerostich goretex lined riding suit as well, would hold up well to just about anything you care to throw at it but on the heavy side as it is not designed for much physical activity. There are different weights of the cordura material available so you might find something at BPS/Cabelas/GM, etc. that would work for your situation.

I made it to the range 2x's last week, (Monday & Saturday) both related to the ARA match held 4/22 @ ORSA, rained off and on for the first 3 cards/targets, and then it tried to clear up for the last 3, caught a glimpse of blue sky but it didn't last long, and stayed mostly cloudy. I usually try to get to the range at least weekly but don't always make it. It's an hour drive for me one way, so I try to make the most of my time there.

Gore tex. Expensive but worth the $$ to me. I wore gore tex rain suits when I rode motorcycles, and my handle back then was "rainman". It always rained on the group when I rode with 'em. LOL
