  1. Year before last I had my Aztek in for an oil change at one Valvoline...with specials it can be almost as cheap as doing it myself, specially having no real place to do it...anyway, they said the manufacturer recommended changing the tranny fluid...usually i don't fall for this stuff, but for some reason this time I did. With a week the tranny stopped working...started slipping then just quit. Tppk it back and they said, oh that sometimes happens? nothing they could do they said, as its not their fault...WTF?? Took it to a tranny mechanic and he said that changing the fluid is ok to do, not necessary, but it doesnt hurt, IF you get it done from the get go...like at regular intervals...he told me that if you don't then junk builds up slowly inside and the tranny keeps working, but when its flushed, it somehow tears it up if theres too much junk in there...said if you dont get it done regularly, then NEVER get it it done! Ended up replacin g the whole tranny. I paid one of the things Dave Ramsey talks about, a STUPID tax, lol. Guess it shows that youre never too old to learn, lol.
  2. I carried one when they were pretty popular back in the 70's 80's & 90's. Traveled all over Europe with one. When I was there, most people carried one, men and women, and I think blending in with the local populace is a good thing...when I was there, terrorism against Americans was still going on, espceially the 70's-80's, and you definitely did NOT want to stand out as an American. Anyway, carried my essentials and a 35mm camera all over Europe. Still think its a good way to carry stuff, but I think most people see one and immediately think GUN. Id rather not bring attention to the fact that I am armed.
  3. I think there is lots that happens that is newsworthy but not in the news.
  4. It's still funny! And lmao at "Lighten up, Francis', ... from one of my favorite movies...
  5. Well, I like her, but I think the picture is funny... When we lose the ability to laugh at ourselves (and the people we like) then thats sad...
  6. It could be worded such that an employer, private, or governmental, could be prohibited from banning vehicles in parking lots, coupled with a prohibition on civil lawsuits arising from leaving in vehicles.
  7. I agree, and I wish it were worded to include public property like state and city/county parking lots too. What can we do to get this passed? Letter writing to our legislature campaign?
  8. I think I like Perry too...not positive I like him best, but I like him...his history on immigration concerns me some...
  9. This will sigificantly change the race...whether he wins or not, the dynamics will chnge it all around...he will degrade the base of the frontrunners to the point that it will be very interesting.
  10. Isn't there some kind of similar rule in effect here in TN>?
  11. I have steered my gun collection towards having the ability to fire as many different calibers as I could, but staying within the range of whats more popular. My rationale was that in a teotwaki situation, I should be better equipped to find ammo to use that had been abandoned by others or taken off those who no longer need it. Going this route does give me more guns maybe, but less quantities of any given caliber. I know, that at this point, people are concerned about things and I have been wondering, hopefully not too late, if I would be better off consolidating calibers somewhat, as some others have done, albeit for different reasons. One consideration that may make it a moot point is the inability to transport all this ammo to a potential bug out location...If I am afoot, I certainly wont be able to travel far carrying much so...but for the sake of argument, lets say I find a place to head to in sufficient time to take my vehicle...and that it don't happen real soon, lol, what ammo calibers would y'all recommend?
  12. This is also something I try to do as well. Whatever carry gun I am using a particular day, I always try to have my "storage" holster in my bag. I use those cheap nylon ones that also have an extra mag spot . You know the ones with a metal clip on the side...they aren't much good for wear, but perfect for those times when you are caught out, like at a school or somewhere you cant carry and have to leave it in the vehicle. Not as good as a vehicle safe, but better than unsheathed ...
  13. Theres a couple private security firms here in Nashville that also do this. my first reaction was that it must be wrong somehow, lol...but then I started thinking...heck it might actually deter crime at times if people thought they were police cars...then again, on the negative side, if a bad apple is driving one, he may go too far...
  14. I know what you are referring to....get real...I'm talking recently...not the distant past whenyou werent even born yet. Sounds like the Muslims trying to justify their violence by saying the Christians did it too! yeah, a long time ago maybe...
  15. Our cities are getting full of animals...
  16. I commend you, wyattearp. I offer the following as a possibility for you and others. I volunteer at Operation Stand Down in Nashville. Their annual event is 3,4 and 5 November. The idea of the event is to get homeless veterans off the streets for a few days and give them some help. They are collected from various locations or make their own way there, given a safe place to sleep for a few days, with plenty of food and given clothing. Local musicians provide entertainment. They have AA and NA meetings on site. VA comes in and provides minor medical and mental heath care, dentists, volunteer barbers are on hand. Meals are provided free to volunteers and participants and are donated by various organizations...one I remember from last year was the Order of the Purple Heart. A local judge has his staff there to help with some minor legal and criminal issues. There are many Federal, state, and local agencies that come together to help vets. Volunteers are also needed to help set up and tear down and staff various duties. You can donate money, clothing time, and probably other stuff too. If anyone wants to donate or help, you can contact Bill Burleigh at 615) 248-1981. You can tell him John Alexander sent ya. All of the participants at this event are veterans and many have fallen on hard times. Some have substance abuse problems, some may have mental problems...some may be there because of their own fault. But these guys have served their country, some in combat, some not, but all answered the call of their country, and could use some help now. The potentially bad news...the location is the old Tennessee Prepatory School on Foster avenue off of Murfreesboro rd in Nashvillew. It may be a state building and may be posted, Im not sure about that...In any case...its a worthwhile cause. These guys either went off to fight Americas wars or at least signed up to do so. See ya there?
  17. I've got a question. I'm NOT racist, but when was the last time you heard of a mob of white people attacking blacks?
  18. The two things most other folks in the world understand is power, and the willingness to use it unilaterally. We have the former, but are losing it, and we have already lost the latter.
  19. JayC "...And for the record, we switched banks, and haven't had a single over draft even though we haven't changed a thing... the new bank just isn't playing any games like Regions. We receive our credit card deposits 1 to 2 days quicker, our overnight investment move happens without a hitch, and the money is always back in time the next morning to cover all the checks... and they process them in the order in which they receive them." What bank do you use?

    i need a 1911

    Mom, the flag, apple pie...and a 1911...
  21. Now THAT is a unique way to use paracord, lol.
  22. Ditto
  23. I've been in this situation more than once...at my local gunshop one time 3 hoody looking types came in when I was ready to leave...since there was only one guy working at the shop, I hung around, just in case...profiling? yes. But I'd want similar if I was in the employees situation. None of my business perhaps, but I wasnt gonna leave him hanging...conversely...similar situation occured at the same gun shop when 2 hood y types came in but the owner was there and about 3 of his employees., all armed of course..I was ready to leave and I did, knowing full well that they could handle anything that developed. I'm sick and tired of profiling being considered racist or a bad thing...look at who and where the most crimes are committed...it's the same at the airports with TSA...they search little old ladies, despite the profile of the average terrorist being not like her...ya cant JUST profile, but profiling is NOT a bad thing...JEEZ.
