Permit Renewal by Mail in 15 Days
Jamie Jackson replied to mikegideon's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As I posted above: "I mailed off my renewal on 2/6/14 and received my Temp Permit today (2/15/14)." I received my actual renewed permit in the mail yesterday. GTG until 2018... -
I'm still using CCI small rifle primers I purchased in 1990 and 1991...IMR 3031 powder as well. My preference on primers for handgun are Federal first, Winchester second. But I've had good luck with Wolf and Tula primers the past few years as well. I have had more ignition reliability issues with Tula Lead Free primers, so I steer away from those...but that said, I would use them if they were all I could find. Just protect your primers from temp extremes & moisture and you should be GTG. All components are a challenge to locate these days, and prices are going up steadily. Get in touch with DLM (David or Sam) as recommended by many here on TGO and I'm sure they'll be of great service and treat you right.

My wife thinks Hoppes is my aftershave. I'm Blessed...she actually likes it. :pleased: I've used RemOil for longer than I can remember and keep BreakFree in my range bag...they work for me. I'll have to read up on that Astroglide stuff Brasil...I think I saw some in your range bag yesterday...

Do you have factory sights on your Glock right now? If so, the are very easy to remove, and sight installation is super simple and easy on Glocks...just don't use any red locktite...ask me how I know! You might want to check out YouTube and see if it's something you want to tackle.

Good for you vontar. I assume you were riding with ORPD? They are a great bunch of guys, and gals. I get to "visit" with them every day at work, and I'm darned happy to have them around.

Anyone know a good, reliable source for fish mox, etc.?
Jamie Jackson replied to JAB's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I was recently having a discussion with my Medical Director on medication shelf life. Money is tight everywhere my friends... This is in no way medical advice, and merely posted for informational purposes. I am not a midlevel practitioner, just a grunt in the machine. But I have worked in this field for 41 years and have therefore developed some opinions and have some observations. Please consult someone that knows what the hell they are talking about...that obviously isn't me... Taking the wrong antibiotic for the wrong infection can be worse than you can imagine. The recommendation for a PDR is a sound one. You may also want to consider getting a Tarason Guide or a Sanford Guide. (links below). Antibiotics and most all non-liquid medications will still be viable for many years after their expiration date. I had, but no longer have, the pdf to the S.L.E.P. or Shelf Life Extension Program performed by .gov to stem the waste of medications being tossed after their "best by" date, their expiration date, given by the FDA and Big Pharma. Face it, there is no profit without selling... Heck, even Quick Clot (an inert substance) has an expiration date since it carries FDA aproval. imho, if a medication is protected from light, heat (temperature extremes), and oxygen, it can remain viable for an extended period of time...just like food can. Please examine the links below and make your own determination as to what you need to do. Also please consider that medication allergies can range for annoying to deadly. Make a plan ahead of time. Consult a knowledgeable provider. Know what medication for what ailment. Also know that if you start an appropriate antibiotic for it's targeted microbe, you must take it for the completed prescribed time frame or you simply encourage antibiotic resistant microbes that that can be a bear to treat. Be safe. I use photobucket as well. Locate the photo you want to link. Move your cursor over that photo and it should show a "wheel" at the top righthand corner. Move the cursor over the wheel and a dropdown list should appear. Click on "get links". You should see "IMG Codes". Click on it and it should read "copied". Go back to your post, right click and hit "paste". That outta do it. :pleased:

Anyone know a good, reliable source for fish mox, etc.?
Jamie Jackson replied to JAB's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I've purchased from Jeffers before...but that was a couple of years ago. At that time they had a good variety and fair pricing. Good luck...smart move. http://www.jefferspet.com/fish-antibiotics/p/1441/cn/14001/ -
HCP reminder from Knox Sheriff
Jamie Jackson replied to Mike.357's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Just my opinion, nothing more... It's a political office. Politicians run for re-election... I know several officers from various counties (So) and towns (PD) that all speak highly of Sheriff JJ Jones. As far as I know Sheriff Jones is a Pro Constitutionally Protected Rights individual. I would rather have him, or any other politician, garner votes from Pro Gun folks than say, PETA or some other libtard group. I don't know anything about Waggoner, but I'm willing to listen to opinions and will certainly look into his platform and history myself. Again, just my opinion and worth exactly the cost of admission... -

I'm impressed. And glad I live in Knox County. -
Thank you Runco. :hat:

It's a good question Troutberger....and a valid one. I'm pretty broke, so that makes my decision an easy one LOL. But this same question is flooding the "interweb" at a rapid rate. I recall only too well Clinton, and I actually think we were better off with him (God I never thought I'd say that) than with Mr. Obama...so a halt by E.O. isn't farfetched. If I could...I'd grab a bunch of Wolf Primers. I'm probably in a minority, but I've had great success with them. Happy Hunting folks.

CZ9mm's Continual Reloading Thread
Jamie Jackson replied to GlockSpock's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
YMMV but I do lube 9mm. I handload a fair amount of 9mm. I find a quick spray of lube makes the whole process run smoother in my Dillon. -
Wow. Thank you Red.

Don't worry Brasil...I sure you'll still be to blame. I enjoyed shooting with you guys yesterday. Great food as well.

CZ9mm's Continual Reloading Thread
Jamie Jackson replied to GlockSpock's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
CZ; Your list looks great. Congratulations. I find handloading to be a very pleasurable and rewarding experience. I have no doubt you will as well. There is some excellent info and suggestions in this thread. On down the line (I don't recall seeing it recommended, but may have overlooked it) but you may want to pick up a "handloader's whiteout": http://www.midwayusa.com/product/667064/lyman-magnum-impact-bullet-puller Something I recently picked up as I've ventured out from my chosen loads for the past 25 years is a chronograph. (I always had access to one until moving to TN...and I'm a cheap basterd LOL). I wanted to put in a plug for a Competition Electronics Prochrono Chronograph. I picked up mine from MidwayUSA, with a discount coupon and sale for $105.00 including shipping. You just gotta watch for those sales. :pleased: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/852429/competition-electronics-prochrono-digital-chronograph?cm_vc=ProductFinding Keep us posted on your experiences. Enjoy. -
Good suggestions. Solid article.

Anybody ever load warm 357 plated 148gr DEWC?
Jamie Jackson replied to musicman's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
While I haven't tried them in .357, I do load plated DEWC 148 gr for my J-Frame S&W. I use 4.2 gr. of AA#2 and get an average chrono velocity of 719 fps. It's a "peppy" J-Frame load based on some Jim Cirrilo (NYPD Stakeout Squad) data. I don't have any data for Bullseye, but with W 231 and AA#2, these serve my purposes. Hopefully the info can give you a starting point. -
I'm a big fan of Alliant Unique as well for 9mm and have used it for many years. I've also had success with Winchester 231 and Alliant American Select. Locating powders has been a challenge for most folks over the past year, and actually forced me to seek out and try new powders...which I probably should have done long before now. I know some friends have had success with Cays and e3.
