  1. Rebrand the term "red flag law" so we will not notice? Seems like very 'political' thing to do. I get it - no one wants the bad people to be able to get or possess guns. But any law that takes away a person's rights w/o due process protections is a no-go. I doubt these gentlemen will be able to thread that needle, no matter what terms they use.
  2. Game plan is the same as always - outlaw guns at every opportunity. Never let a mass shooting go by w/o taking more rights away. @BigK has it correct; the AR bans = low hanging fruit. They won't stop there. Look @ Great Britain, Australia, & now New Zealand for the playbook end goal results. And once everything is banned & crime is worse than ever, to include murder, it's too late. You'll never get your rights back. You can vote yourself into Socialism/Communism/Dictatorship but you can only escape from that by shooting your way back out of it. Gun control is really just "control"...period. History shows that giving up rights for 'safety' leaves you with neither. Sadly the masses have been sold an easy fix to stop mass murderers in the siren call of gun control. By the time it dawns on the average person that it was all a lie, it's too late. The NYT is just rough toilet paper. It's good for lining a bird cage. Sadly people are reading it thinking there is still something of value there.
  3. Gun Control isn't so much about guns, it's about...control.
  4. From the link: "A manager told WBIR the man was trying to side holster a gun and shot himself in the hand accidentally." Whoops.
  5. That is a beautiful rifle. Great photos. Someone is going to score a gun of a lifetime here. Free bump as this deserves to find a good home. GLWS!
  6. He's got to mollify his base with tough talk on guns after screwing his supporters by potentially allowing oil drilling in Alaska. It's a nothing burger, but it won't end up being entirely harmless as we will all potentially be impacted until the inevitable lawsuits work thru the court system to nullify whatever this ends up doing. A 40 year career politician just working the media to look tough on guns. <sigh> I can't wait for 2024 when we can be done with this demented clown.
  7. The end goal, based on the groups pushing for the code, isn't benign. Step one was to create the new code. Check. Done. Step two will be to track purchasers. Step three will be applying political & social pressure to the credit card companies to stop processing payments for that code "to save the children" or whatever the cry of the day will be. It is not innocuous. And it won't be an issue...initially. But it must be stopped before it can ever be used as a defacto database of gun buyers and then used as a lever of the antigun groups to shutdown financial services to "gun dealers", a la Operation Chokepoint (Obama era-style.)
  8. They show up, color coordinated, & put the pressure on "for the children". The politicians feel the pressure to please those in attendance. I get it @Worriedman. You make a good point.
  9. Cash it is. The article was a good read. Looks like FL is already looking to pass laws to penalize credit card companies & banks that use the new MCC (credit card code) to track gun store purchases. Other states like MS & OK are considering doing the same. The new code is a tool to be wielded by progressives to gradually restrict firearm purchases (i.e., Obama era "operation chokepoint" but applied more specifically to gun purchases.) It will start off doing nothing. Then some transactions will get flagged for investigation. Then, eventually, the woke activists will push for all coded firearm purchases to be denied "if it will save even one life" (ignoring how many will be lost due to denied purchases.) It is just another brick in the wall to make the exercise of your constitutional right more onerous. "Merchant category codes (MCCs) are an IRS-developed scheme for tracking transactions. Behind the push for the gun-specific merchant category code is Amalgamated Bank, which boasts that it "supports sustainable organizations, progressive causes, and social justice." It's basically a political operation that uses its presence in the financial industry to advance political goals, and it joined with Democratic politicians to urge adoption of the new MCC. Why? Because at a time when everything is politicized, an ability to monitor buying and selling is enormously important to those who want to restrict or control whole areas of life."
  10. Sounds like a way for the Feds to get in on virtual currency: https://www.khou.com/article/news/verify/economy-verify/biden-executive-order-14067-not-getting-rid-of-cash-fact-check/536-aabc0fdb-22f6-409d-9654-f8905bfd3103 It doesn't do away with cash. Gov't wants their own version of bitcoin, that they track & control.
  11. A right delayed is a right denied.
  12. "...Badges? We don't need no stinking badges!"
  13. Democrat from New Jersey, backed by Bloomberg, wants to stop online ammo sales & put restrictions on ammo sales at your local dealer. Trying to go the way of California. If they can't get the guns, they'll make it harder and harder to 'feed' them. Every elected official swears an oath to uphold the constitution & some turn around and work to undermine it. Love the same, old, tired lines about mass shootings & how only the Dems have the solution (i.e., more government control over your rights.) I have the solution - lock up violent people & don't let them out until their full term is served. But...that would diminish deaths so the Dems aren't for that plan. Without death, they can't get you to agree to trade away your freedoms. Sad all the way around.
  14. This sounds like a big step in the right direction. Encouraging!
  15. And back to Raquel Welch - rest in peace & thanks for the memories.
  16. I'm glad you mentioned the series JUSTIFIED. (Was on Netflix, I believe.) I thought Timothy Olyphant was very good in it. Sort of a modern day gun fighter/lawman concept. It was enjoyable to watch just to see what would happen next.
  17. Let's just hope your wife doesn't run to the gun store & sell off your collection before you can be resurrected...or worse, sell them for what you told her they cost.
  18. Bumping this back up to help get some eyes on it as I'm also curious what is a good, simple to use dash camera. It's getting crazy out there. Everyone wants to mess with their phone, not drive a car properly. My word & a camera would be a lot better witness to the truth than the old he-said/she-said scenario. I'm glad you are okay @billyblazes . Sorry about your vehicle damage though.
  19. Bosch (on Amazon Prime) Motive (not sure who is carrying it, but well done detective show) I'll second or third the Longmire recommendation. It is well done & the characters are interesting & well acted. Jack Ryan (on Amazon Prime)
  20. I have no problem w/the concept of these "hand shotguns" but would spring for the S&W over this high-priced Taurus ("executive grade Judge"). The S&W will hold its value over time. I've fired the 'plebeian' version Judge and it functioned reliably. If money were tight, I'd go that route. I'm not confident Taurus is understanding the concept of a premium grade product as it just doesn't fit with this particular revolver. People want an Acura or Lexus if they're going to pay a premium over the cost of a Honda or Toyota. I'm not paying $900+ for a Taurus revolver. If they want to make a splash, they need to come up with a new name brand (Trinity?) and build a Python/S&W .357 Registered Magnum level product at two-thirds the price...then they might gain some market share.
  21. Limbsaver pads are really good. They make slip-ons... https://limbsaver.com/products/airtech-slip-on-recoil-pad...and ones that can be ground to fit your gun (gunsmith needed.) PAST makes great wearable recoil "shields": https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1002531259/
  22. Your wallet is a selfish piece of leather. Ignore it's complaints. Money is transient; guns are multi-generational. More guns is more better.
  23. How to shoot a .22LR with open sights How to clean that .22LR How to look a person in the eye, shake their hand, and introduce one's self with confidence & respect
  24. Go-to guns for zero to 500 yards (farthest I will shoot at game, and then only under very ideal wind conditions) are: 1) .25-06 Rem (light recoil; punches high above it's weight-class) 2) .270 Win (pretty sure this is the best deer/antelope cartridge ever made) 3) .308 Win (cheap ammo & effective on hogs, deer, & bison so far...it just works & I like that) If I was playing the target game out to 1000yds, they say 6.5 Creedmoor or .300 WSM are the ticket to success (I own neither.) If I lived out West and pursued elk in grizzly country, or I lived & hunted Alaska, I'd favor the .300 WinMag or .338 WinMag. If I lived in TN and just wanted to bump off Bambi now and again @ 300 yards or less, I might just go with the .243 Win or 6mm Creedmoor since they are gentle on the wallet & shoulder. If my TN hunting property was wooded with little to no chance of a shot farther than 150 yards, I'd use my Grandpa's Win Mod 71 in .348 Win just because I could.
  25. I'm with @KahrMan and @TripleGGG - you seem like a perfectly normal, rational, intelligent person to me. Can't go wrong buying good quality shotguns. Good for you!
