  1. Dang. We are geting really into dark territory here. The way I read the question is one of personal choice. I would have to base that choice on my own capabilities. I've really come to like the 1911 after years of thinking it too hard to use and maintain. But that's just my opinion, not necessarly correct or incorrect. I shoot marginally better with the 1911 form than I do with most of the polymer framed guns, but not enough so that I'd call myself qualifed to render a decision designded to influences others to my way of thinking. That being said, if I understand the basis of the question, that is what would I pick, based on personal knowledge and abilities. I'd have to go with the glock. Man, that was really hard to say. I really like them both, but I think that the average person's skill level, and again, I say average, not some of us who eat, sleep, and breathe holding onto our guns, no matter the brand or caliber; the choice would almost certainly be with the glock. It's just too easy to pick up and shoot. Not necessarily shoot well, but just grab and pull the trigger. And that is what I think would happen with the majority of "survivors" in any catastrophic situation that would see everyone running for a gun.
  2. Unlike my decision, probably the wisest course of action.
  3. Many, many comments to make on this subject. But in the interest of brevity and keeping my blood pressure under control...I will just say...YES. That is the absolute truth. I am sick of how the liberal, downtrodden, and woe-is-me crowd always have an ethnic holiday, or celebrate particular historical and influencial figureheads to bring up. But just try to celebrate or teach about a non-african descendant and see where the loudest screams come from. And I am truly sick of the African-, Indian-, Chinese-, Italian-, Russian-, etc-American tags. I know I'm behind politiclly, culturally, and several other ways, but I'm with John Wayne...I thought we were all just Americans. But I guess that's just not diverse enough these days.

    Ruger SR9C

Thankfull, I don't have to worry about losing it to my wife. She likes wheelguns.
  5. Mac is on target. The price you are willing to pay, .i.e., worth, is subjective and deepends on many factors. Among them of course is the price, but the amount of time and effort you are willing to expend in the hunt, the cost of your time, the cost of fuel, and how badly you really want "the" gun will determine whether you are willing to put down your hard-earned money.
  6. The truth, ...this one,...he says.
  7. Now there's the man we've all come to know and love!
  8. Yes, I will watch for the outcome here. It has some interesting points. Yes the woman broke the law, but seems from the article, she had a genuine concern for her safety. Doing pickups in an area documented to have issues, and calling and getting a LEO escort should have some validity on the case, at least in the public eye. But as leroy states, maybe it will just be cast aside. We'll wait and see.
  9. Welcome. Hope the culture shock here won't discourage you.
  10. Hmmm? There seems to be a little skepticism here concerning whether or not you can keep from altering a firearm in some manner. There may be some justification for this line of thought considering some of your postings. Not that we don't appreciate your efforts to enhance the looks and capabilities of your firearms.
  11. Jeff did the first work I ever had done on a pistol. It wasn't much, but he did great, timely work back then. He shanged out a trigger, hammer, and tightened up an Officers Model for me. But he's gotten so well known now, I don't know how quick it would be to get something done.
  12. And I was about to go off bigtime here...til I realized what was going on. I do like my autoloaders, but for a fun range day, I gots to have a wheelgun there. It sure makes me look like a much better shooter.
  13. Great looking truck as well.

    Ruger SR9C

Yes, the SR9c is a fine littl pistol. I've had 2 of them so far. Got talked out of the first one, and got another a few months ago. Carries well in a Sticky holster and I prefer it over the LC9 and the PF9. Has shot well with everthing I've fed it so far, and is easily held and shot for me.
  15. Huh?? Who do you think pays for these? I'd say 70-75%, probably more, of tables rented are professional sellers, whether it be ffl's, ammo, holsters, or jerky. Very few individuals are willing to put out the show fees, set up displays, sit there all weekend, get abused by floor walkers and the general public, and tear down and go home on Sunday afternoon. The balance of vendors are those selling personal firearms, or whatever products they might have. Yes, it's a sore spot with me. I've been on both, or all three sides actually, of this. Worked as table labor for vendors, been involved in selling my own guns, and carrying around to sell. Not to mention close to 20 years in mall retail sales running a shop, and 14 years in route sales. Yes, there are butts out there at the shows, but they are on all sides of the asiles. But without the "dealers" you would have no gun shows. Sorry, rant over.
  16. Hey, if I can do it... that's positive proof that even my brother members here can do it.
  17. Oh, sorry for forgetting. A big thanks to Garufa and analog_kidd for their help. I hope I can do it again.
  18. All Right! Successuful insertion of an avatar. Not quite what I wanted. But will work for a while as I play with several and try for something tottally different. At least for me. Doesn't really tie in with my screen name, but I've been a Terminator fan for so long it just seems natural. My wife just looked at it, shook her head sadly, and walked away. Some women just don't seem to like watching the movies over and over. Sometimes, I do it just to be evil.
  19. You know, that has gotten to be one of the scariest quotes I've ever heard.
  20. Sounds like a great idea to me. I'd love it. Of course, I couldn't afford the new home or the club dues. But sure sounds good.
  21. Sigh.
  22. Truth Team? BS BS BS and more BS. Propaganda Team is more like it.
  23. No one forced this man to build his 19000 ft compound there. BS BS BS and BS.
  24. Been thinking about getting a 5.45 x39 myself lately. Good to hear some commentary on them.
