  1. Went to the RK show in K'ville today with '53 vintage Enfield #4 Mk 2 that i've wanted to sell for $400. Several guys were interested but no one had $ or wanted it enough to pay. I did a complete circuit of the floor & went to lunch with a friend. After lunch I returned to the show & a feller offered to swap even for a Swedish Mauser ...I said OK t, the bore looks good and it had a marking disk on the right side next to a small plaque bearing metric bullet drop dope or some such..Or was I the Dope ? Bought some ammo (not cheap) and hope to take 'er to the range when the weather permits ! A new caliber for me too. Any one have any suggestions ? Pictures later (I hope ).
  2. Them open-frame revolvers are a hoot to shoot ! Let us know how much you enjoy it..be sure to wear some eye protection when you take 'er to the range.
  3. If you got out for less than 4 Franklins you SCORED BIG ! If not, you copped a FIND.. 80's pistols from W Germany were engineered by the most risk-avoiding folks on the planet. Straightforward Dumkopf-proof single-action pistols , viz.,the HAWES 357 mag revolver, etc. Hope you are happy, I am envious. Thanks for the Heads Up !
  4. From what I have seen the 7.7 Japanese & the British 303 are the same ,except the 303 is a rimmed base cartridge ! So it figures any load for a 303 Enfield would probably suffice.
  5. The 7.62 x 54R is the oldest smokeless powder round still serving duty ! Speaks well for reliability ! What nation decided on 30 caliber first ?
  6. Pretty close to $300 after sales tax & TICs. No discount for cash.Need new tires on car, wife says. Ah well..
  7. Saw one of these in a local pawn shop today .. Any comments about the gun ? Am not familiar about it's predecessors except the revolver(s).No external hammer, slide release on left side for right-handed person seemed smallish to me. Anyone have anything to say ? Thanks, /?
  8. Looks like the Thompson has a 30rd mag... Not so ?
  9. 22 long rifle it says just north of the receiver on the side of the barrel. She likes CCI standard velocity .
  10. OK, I've put images on the attachment paper clip but I think the images exceed the capacity of site but I'll submit them
  11. No,this one is a bolt action single shot . Unfortunately ,I cannot attach pictures to an Email. I've tried & am going to get some learning asap . Not today.
  12. Bought a JG Anshutz Flobert action single shot Karbine (thats what it says on the barrel) a few weeks ago. Have been trying to find out how old it is. Serial # 510XXX. Stock is beechwood with a schnable flare fore-end , sights are fixed, no provision for elevation. front sight is dovetail on a tapered barrel . Barrel length is about 23 3/4 inches & is inscribed JGAnschutz germaniawaffenwerk A.G.Zella-Mehlis/Thur . Would like to be able to post pics but don't know where to go get shown how to do it in terms I can understand. Desk top computer is too cumbersome & budget prohibits smartphone. Can take images on camera &know how to remove memory card to put images on computer but thats about as far as it goes.
  13. One might think that Mr. Crockett's rifle accompanied him to Texas & the Alamo.. The rifle depicted may be of the appropriate vintage -how do we know ?
  14. The mark 5 {jungle} carbine was designed with "lightning" cuts on the receiver & bolt & through out , resulting in a guns that looked great especially with the conical flash-hiding device. It's recoil persuaded no nation to choose it. India rejected it in 50's I'm told. My #4 Mk2 wears a"nancy pad" on visits to the Range..
  15. Thanks for the replies, I plan to cover the bases with painter's tape to avoid the possibility of projectile/primer bump. Am pretty certain it's all corrosive Berdan primed.
  16. Got 4 bags of assorted 303 ammo @ estate sale . About 20 rds. each. Most have age related stains .Would it be safe to put 'em in the Vibrashine in small batches ? Mostly 1943 vintage.
  17. So Enlighten me ! What is a 22/32 ? Is it a 22 LR on a 32 (Long) frame ? Cannot tell if it is a Smith/Colt revolver ..
  18. If only steel could speak ! You have a real beauty there , hope you're not urged to sell it by events or circumstances beyond your control. Salute !
  19. Have heard it is the N frame in 357 or the 44 mag & have also seen the "scarce" model 18 in 22 caliber mentioned.. Who knows?
  20. Thanks for the "heads up" ,I just don't know who to trust for good info on arms purchases besides the "Old Timer's" anymore. Thanks !
  21. Found a Universal 2 a local gunshow for $450. What do I need to look for & look at to insure a wise purchase ? Ammo is available but not cheap.
  22. You've got a real un-common rifle there, 6.5 caliber I presume ? Good to see one relatively un-molested .
  23. In Latin it is Mea Culpa ( I'm Guilty ) cannot list items for sale or trade . Anyway, the items are unique and I seek Guidance. Thanks !
  24. Found a 2nd one in the other sack , it's LC 54 . Have to figure value or suggestions ? Would be happy to trade rounds for a little range time with a carbine ! Some of the ammo is not in First Class condition but it is good enough to shoot ! PM me & we'll meet up @ the Moose Lodge or what ever suits you. Sundays are best for me.
  25. Found one orange tipped round in a bag of 30 Carbine ammo that I bought @ an auction a few months ago . Just got it into the daylight this (Sunday) afternoon . Any one know what it designates ? I don't have a Carbine but now have some to trade or shoot. Thanks !
