  1. Sorry to hear about this for both parties involved.  You don't get to turn that clock back.   in other news.... Wesley place is owned by Vandy?  ... and/or it is actually on Vandy's campus?   ... does Vandy's campus stop somewhere down by broadway and I-40?  :)   ... I'll drink more coffee and check back in a little while.
  2.   x2.  fyi - they are working in the cold for a paycheck.
  3. FYI: - I pre-registered two or three weeks ago and haven't seen hide nor hair of badges... or whatever they would send.
  4. "17deg function check?" ...    √
  5. Everything is getting "melty" here.  I have driven to and from work both Monday and Tuesday (4runner).     While our street is still covered in ice and snow, the ruts are melting and the trash collection did make it by today.       _____ Here's a little fun for the ones with young kids/grandkids:  ... my experience this morning.   Fatherhood 400 level course - Class exercise: 1) Preparation: Ensure kids are well clothed when sledding to avoid abraisions from ice, small bumps to head, frostbite, windburn, etc. 2) Setup: Check on kids' welfare occasionally... Do not bother to dress warmly when you do this. A white T-shirt, old blue jeans, and boat shoes with no socks are appropriate attire. 3) Action: Say, "yes!" when the kids ask if you will sled down the hill with them one last time. Give no regard to dressing for the activity. It "will be over before you know it."  smile emoticon In case of a spill, remember to contort your body appropriately so as not to land on/contact/injure your children. 4) Clean Up: Symmetry.... Allow the kids to apply peroxide to your abrasions (As you've told them, ice can cut you!). Laugh through the sting and watch them do the same. 5) Review: Cherish the memory forever!
  6.    We used to feed the babies milk and we didn't have near the "selection" we have now, - bread was a fresh, daily staple, so if you couldn't get to the store, you were without a staple. .... at least where I came from, that was why "bread and milk".      Of course, today, in our household, we don't drink milk and we are a gluten-free house (celiac).  .... no bread or milk for us.
  7.   un-like.  I'm guessing you are good or you would've asked us all for something.
  8. Sledded in the rain earlier today, and then drove in to work.  It was slushy from West Meade through Belle Meade into Green Hills.     After work I had to scrape my vehicle off all over again!!  I didn't realize how much came down this afternoon.   anywho.... the streets looked like Colorado or Alaska on the way home.  Solid. Packed. Ice - gutter to gutter.   It was no trouble, but I would hate to be on it with a bunch of other drivers.
  9. West Nashville.  ice, then sleet, then rain, then ice, then sleet... rinse and repeat.  Our Radio Flyer sled is perrrrrfect for this!   The sleet here is good for driving if you are one of the first few on it.  Once it gets packed down, it will get ugly.

^^ BG380?  I love mine.  :)  seriously.   but David is right.  Put that cash in a safe place and research, hands on... or whatever until you figure out exactly what you want/need, and then go get it.

    Real Snow

I haven't been watching the weather, but... you don't have to have computer modeling if you've lived here all your life.  If this is moisture coming up from the gulf/texas that is hitting this cold front, we will get snow... and enough of it.  If it is a "snowstorm" blowing in from the northwest, we will get a few flakes or a dusting.
  12. ^^ as mentioned, Creive Hall is 15 minutes from the entire world.  We lived there for a few years, and the location is what sold our house for full asking price in late 2008.   We currently live in West Meade (Nashville Metro) and we have the best traffic situation we have ever had (we both work in Green Hills - and the kids go to school there as well).  BTW: When we lived in Creive Hall, I worked in Spring Hill.   From West Meade...Downtown (Sounds Baseball), Germantown (food), Green Hills (back way - no traffic).... all about 15 minutes away.   Airport, Cool Springs, 12th south and the like are 20-25min away.  Yards are big... property taxes are big as well.   Good luck!!   You've got some good advice above, and it sounds like the Nolensville-south corridor may be right for you.
  13. $7 for fishing, $8 for gunshow... $5 for parking. Gun show prices, in general, were not competetive with the Nashville dealer market in any way.
  14.     brain lapse - I meant to say "safety".  I could reach it with the off hand,... but it would take major "grip shift" to reach it with firing hand.
  15. Went to both the gun show and the fishing expo today.   ... the fishing expo was "more fruitful".   I did buy some stripper clips for cheap at the gun show.     On a side note, apparently I will never be a 1911 man.  I can't reach the *mag release in any way, shape, or manner... I have wide, webbed palms and (apparently) a short thumb.  The truth hurts.   * edited for brain lapse
  16. Mmmmmmmmm... Brominated Vegetable Oil!     ...  jk, nice shooting.
  17. oh goodie.  I've (not) been writing them for years asking for this.
  18.   You really may want to give the BCM comp a try.  It helps with muzzle flip, but is not as loud or obnoxious as a straight brake.  My experience with it (5.56) has been fantastic.
  19. The eotech will be quicker to acquire a sight picture for most folks, but the battery life and ruggedness of an aimpoint is lightyears abead. Turn the aimpoint on and replace the battery in a couple of years.... you'll still be 9 months to a year early. :) enjoy whatever you decide on and practice to proficiency.
  20. bcm gunfighter comp (muzzle rise) and limb-saver (recoil). keep them on the rifle full time. ... & love life.
  21. Sig has a good case in this, and they are right.  The ATF needs to (become and ) remain absolutely specific about what is and is not regulated.  If something, as it stands, is not a wholly regulated item, then it is not a regulated item.  "Shifting" enforcement is a powerful  tool for many corrupt governments.  We do not want any part of that here.
  22. It will most likely change POI some.  IIRC, if your rifle is properly crowned, traditional theory says that a muzzle break should not noticably change accuracy.  ymmv.
