  1. Never bothered to figure it out. It is a hit or miss, one out of three transactions would get delayed. In KY the CCDW negates the background, so it has been a moot point for a while now.
  2. That is where I am at, the whole experience was so upsetting. The guy behind the counter today was rather distressing. They had my phone number and everything, and no one tried to contact me to inform me that I left my license.
  3. Conceal Carry Deadly Weapons. This took place in Kentucky. The CCDW is the equivalent of the TN HCP, but even more inclusive and liberating. I can carry a blackjack.
  4. Rural King kinda upset me this afternoon. I have my CCDW in Kentucky, which exempts me from the background check. The biggest reason I have my CCDW is because I seem to get a delay every time a BC is run. I went to RK today to grab a Chiappa 1873-22 because it is a full size rimfire SAA clone. The cat behind the counter was not the most helpful guy and refused to use my CCDW, claiming company policy to use my DL and run a BC. I was miffed, because I knew it would come back as a delay and told him as much. I had planned on going to the range today with my Heathen today with that new pistol, as we go shooting every Saturday. Sure enough, I got hit with a delay, and then the cat forgot to return my DL. I accept a portion of the blame, as it was my DL, but at the time I was bent out of shape about the fact he refused to even acknowledge my CCDW. So I then drive into the `Ville to go shooting, and realize I don't have it. So I get to turn around an hour to drive back to get my license back. I am rather salty about the whole ordeal. I get the idea of the policy. I am legal and clean I know that. But a big reason I got my CCDW was so that I wouldn't have to deal with the Brady Delay EVERY PURCHASE... The fact he forgot to give my DL back was just the icing on the cake. And then you add in that RK is selling the gun for 20% less than anyone else... Anyways, I just wanted to vent about something I completely understand and have no control over, but still upset me.
  5. I have a `16 XL883N That is rather modified. Never been a bit of issue other than a rear brake squeal. Great bike. Sorry you didn't enjoy yours.
  6. Given my new career, I have given up 'side hustle.' I used to deliver pizza, on and off for about 20 years, on the weekend, peak hours I could pull down $25 an hour. I knew a few cats that did it for the same reason as me (laid back atmosphere, not concerned about repercussions, side job, like driving...) that gave it up and went to Uber. I also know that I see cars with Uber and Lyft decals/lights. I personally have never used them, and I have only ever used a taxi service once. But If need be, I don't think I would not do it.
  7. Yeah, even with the mags I am not sure I could go over $450 regardless of the magazine count. More like $400 used to be honest. I am a 3rd Gen guy who is about to bite the bullet and go 5th Gen though. I always hated the finger grooves. I will keep my several 3rd Gens though.
  8. I finally got around to looking at my spent brass, there is a definite difference between the spend rounds, and the rounds that failed to fire. It is definitely a light strike issue. As this was bought for my Christmas gift, I will wrap it up, put it under the tree, then send if off for warranty work at the first of the year. This will be the first gun I have ever had to send off for warranty work, so I am clueless to the process. I read the warranty, it told me who to contact and what to do, but I am still unsure about the whole process and timeline. Anyone with experience in this? With Pietta?
  9. I am a guitar guy, with an expensive collection. The used American will hold it's value much higher. Used MIM Fenders sell of $300 regularly, with some folks thinking they are $500+. They aren't. The fit and finish of the MIA will be much better than the MIM. The MIA will also use much better components than the MIM. I own a lot of Asian guitars, I think all of them are to be honest. Korea and Indonesia are making some really solid instruments these days, and I have a few Chinese axes that aren't bad either. Something else to take into consideration is an amp. An amp affects the sound as much as the guitar. Cheap amps are cheap. Even more so than a cheap guitar. A Fender Mustang is a good low budget option, because honestly, a good amp costs as much as a good guitar.
  10. We use Roku boxes/sticks just because we are used to that form factor. $25 a TV single time cost. They all stream the big ones, Netflix, Prime, Hulu and all the other boutique ones as well, including Sling. If you are into premium channels you can do HBO Go and Showtime and the others as well. I add those to my Prime subscription for a month at a time to catch up on Shameless.
  11. I cut the cord several years ago. I get my news via Google, and I filter from there. We have Netflix, Prime and Hulu. We do however have upgraded internet speed as we do a lot of gaming and have many devices on our network. I think we pay $60 a month on internet. $14? on Netflix. I do 80% of the shopping online, so I consider Prime for shipping and the Prime Video is just a nice feature (I think it comes out to $10 a month with the new cost.) We got Hulu as well a few days ago at the $12 a year thing. So yeah, at $90 a month I am not missing anything. I also live close enough to a large city and we receive like 30 station OTA in HD. In all fairness I pay for the Prime and my wife pays for the Netflix and internet, so I am not sure what she pays, but I know she doesn't complain, so it can't be much.
  12. This is my first big bore SAA. I learned on a Single Six, and have a brace of Rough Riders. For $350 I couldn't pass it up as it is something I have always wanted. My SAA clones are all range toys, but man, they bring such a smile to my face. I am hoping it is the ammo to be honest.

    Pietta 1873

So, I bought a Pietta 1873 in .357 Magnum this afternoon as my Christmas gift. My wife says I have to wrap it up and have it under the tree by Christmas. I however took it to the range this afternoon after purchase. After the first box of Remington UMC .38SPC I started having failure to fire 5/6 rounds on the second box. I am not sure it this is ammo or gun. I saved the brass from all rounds, and I can't tell a difference in the primer strikes from the good to the not good rounds. The pin is extending into the chamber area maybe 1/16 of an inch. I guess I will take my only other .38SPC that I know is good, a RIA M206, and try to fire off the rest of the box of Remington UMC, and try a known good box of Winchester .38SPC in the Pietta and see how that goes. Anyone have an experience with these? It is a range gun for fun, but that doesn't mean I don't want it to be 100% functional and reliable.
  14. I hadn't seen if from this angle. But Dave and Co are easily a class act. I like a lot of Foo, but this is gold.
  15. Most stores will balk and lay down without a DL. Regardless of the law. Don't make it a hassle.
  16. I am kinda fond of my RIA M206. Cost near nothing and many Colt parts fit it/with it.
  17. I know a guy that lost his license and 19. He paid what he could, and always settled his debts, but through the bureaucracy and steep costs was always unable to get his license back. Between hoops to jump though and paying his regular bills it seemed be never had the $1000, $2000, $3000, $4000 to pay the fines/reinstatement costs that continually accrued. Though he continued to drive to work, every time he would be caught for a minor infraction (a tail light, a headlight, failure to come to a complete stop) it would add thousands of dollars and another time constraint to what it took to reinstate his license. He became a family man, no legal issues, but one mistake, during a time where the state of Tennessee didn't have insurance requirements (determined at fault due to other party having insurance regardless of cause of accident) he lost his license. Total costs over the course of ten years involved multiple trips to jail and tens of thousands of dollars in court costs. And all of it cause by an ambiguous law that wasn't even broken. Failure to provide proof of financial responsibility was the official answer. A record as long as the tattoos on my arm, and only for driving offenses. This was resolved a long, long time ago. But it is something that I still have bitter feelings about. It was nothing more than a way to keep the poor as poor as possible in my opinion and experience. I applaud the law and hope that it is used in good faith and for the good of all.
  18. Coywolf. They are becoming more common.
  19. What about a Kentucky CCDW? My daughter is going up for a field trip at the first of November. I will not be chaperoning, but I will be 'in town/visiting friends.' I want her to be free and independent. With a mean, tattooed, overprotective safety net. Chitown proper.
  20. Due to several factors, including growing up deep in Appalachia, being dirt poor for the first half and then some of my life, an aversion to seat belts and a penchant for pugilistic endeavors, I had lost more than half of my teeth by the time I was twenty one. I suffered greatly in both self esteem and pain for about fifteen years before I paid a very large sum of money to rectify the situation. I have had two sets of plates made. My first set was done before the surgery and fitted when I woke up. It took six months to learn to eat and speak again. Whistling was a fun one. After a couple of years I had my second set of plates fitted to my new mouth shape. I have had them adjusted a couple of times. One, the fact I can smile with a full set of teeth is a huge aspect. It is hard to be taken serious when you have no teeth. Pun intended. Regardless of your resume, your accomplishments, education, etc, you are looked down upon as a toothless imbecile. Two, the pain I suffered everyday was crippling. I would deal with a tooth abscess on a weekly basis. I came to rely on way too many Goody Powders on a daily basis, which of course also affected my health in other manners. Granted the upside is my superhuman tolerance to pain at this point in my life, but lets be honest, it wasn't worth the ability to shrug off broken bones and perform your own sutures. Three, the ability to actually eat again. When you have no/broken teeth it is difficult to eat without great pain, and often you can't eat at all, you just sip soup or oatmeal. Sure, now I can't crack a jawbreaker, but I can chew a steak again. My plates fit well. I have a good dentist, and I paid a very hefty sum ($20k) for the work. I have not had post implants for the bottom plate, however that is something I am considering. I use powder for my top plate, and it will last all day. I use glue for my bottom plate, a small amount goes a long way. However I do normally only get one meal out of the bottom plate before I have to renew the glue to continue the day. If anyone is on the fence about it, I can't recommend it enough. It has had nothing but positive results for me. However, you must understand that I knocked out five or six of my front teeth in various auto accidents and had very poor dental hygiene habits for most of my life. I can literally count the times I have been to a dentist before solving the issue on one hand. My daughter has regular dentist visits. She brushes twice a day at minimum, we have been to the orthodontist regularly, pulled overcrowded teeth, etc. She is currently in braces and I have done everything I can to stress the importance of proper oral hygiene to her so that much like the other rough paths I have tread, she never has to experience it.
  21. I just had to quote that. I am a service plumber, I am also pretty good at my job. While it is nice when a customer has attempted to troubleshoot and diagnose their issue and communicate it to me, I am a professional. Not only will I troubleshoot and diagnose the issue myself, I will repair it properly. I have years of training, experience and a rather expensive piece of plastic that says I know what I am doing. Regardless of what your cousin's friend said after you watched a Youtube video, I will fix your problem properly. It might not be what you thought it was, and it will just frustrate both of us if you have a preconceived notion of how I should do my job. After all, if you already know all about it, why did you call a professional instead of fixing it yourself?
  22. Great deal. The Sphinx is the factory custom world of the CZ. I wonder if it can be transferred to my local Point Blank.
