    Gas!!

I suspect I am spoiled. I don't drive my personal vehicles anymore. I have a company vehicle with a company fuel card. I get that it has no bearing on the conversation at hand. I just wanted to remind myself of the small things that make my life awesome.
  3. I have an SB brace, and I am pretty fond of it. I too have a 14.5" pinned and welded. It is my go to rifle. I built a 7.5" pistol with a KAK can and the SB brace. It honestly isn't that much shorter, the LOP is much less. They handle similar. I would still take the 14.5" if I had to pick just one.
  4. The 19x has a flat baseplate as far as I know. Not the cutout like the other Gen 5s.
  5. I have two black labs, I need an SUV or wagon. It is uncomfortable for my heathen and my babies all in the back seat. The wife wants four wheel drive. I don't want to spend $40k. Unfortunately as a Ford family, nothing interests her (I really like the Ecosport, cause small capable 4x4s are awesome, but it is too small I think.) We have been browsing for a year or two, and the Subie Outback ticks all the boxes. She likes the 4Runner too. I like them both, but the price on the Outback is more my flavor, I am cheap.
  6. The one you can afford. After that, look at features, markings, roll mark. I have built based on PSA (x4,) Anderson (x2) and ARFiveSeven (x2.) Other than features, markings and roll marks, the lowers all went together and worked well. Quality parts in the upper and lower are more important IMO.
  7. I have carried a Gen 3 G19 for over a decade now. I own multiples of them. I fondled my first 19x today. It was hard not to drop the $600 on it right then and there. It felt 'right.' It made me feel dirty, because everything told me I should hate this pistol.
  8. How can you sleep safe knowing they are all locked in the safe away from you?
  9. Why couldn't you go Subaru, then I would buy a car from you. Kia has nothing my family is interested in/needs.
  10. I am cheap. I shoot paper at the range. My daughter shoots competition. I have a Bushnell TRS on my AR. I like it.
  11. I have collected hats for years, I have about 50 of them that I wear at any given time. I still have most of my hair, so I wear them out of comfort more than anything. I do pay attention to hats, but just because it is a fringe hobby of mine. I have a BRCC hat I wear often, and I get a few comments on it, but no one has recognized it's origins yet.
  12. My daughter and I have a lot of fun watching one another and comparing runs in Fortnite. Great time.
  13. As stated, we went local. Within weeks of closing we got a letter from Wells Fargo informing us they had bought our mortgage. There were no changes, just a notification that they now owned it. In the aspect of PMI, Insurance and taxes, my actual 'mortgage' is about $XXX a month. That sounds awesome, but after PMI, HO Insurance and taxes, we pay double that a month. It is still a reasonable payment, and our mortgage officer was easily able to 'ballpark' that figure for me once we had settled on a house/location and an estimate from the insurance company. As stated though, with tax changes and insurance changes, that has fluctuated, up and down, over the years.
  14. Bell bottoms are due a comeback any day now. They were big in the `70s, and kids my age were rocking the JNCOs in the `90s...
  15. When we bought our house we stayed local. I shopped around a little bit, but only three places if I recall. The first (Quicken) was just to feel it out. I had a great credit rating (760+) and things went very smooth for us. We wound up with a <3.5% loan. The important part was to be realistic. We were approved for well over double what we paid for our home (that appraised for $40k over what we paid.) I wanted to keep my payment at a certain point. Even though we were approved for MUCH more, I didn't way to pay MUCH more on my mortgage over what I was paying for rent. To be honest, that was my biggest factor/concern. I see too many people get in trouble because someone told them they could afford a $2200 a month mortgage payment when they are used to paying a $700 a month rent payment. Also take into account that with taxes and insurance fluctuating, even if you have a fixed rate/term loan, your payment can change by +-$200 a month at any given time. This has also taught me the value of shopping my insurance, which has changed three times in as many years. Also, not sure if you are current HO, but take into account the cost of maintenance of owning your own home if you haven't already. That is another easy $1000+ a year I didn't take into account, even though I was thinking I was.
  16. There are very few exceptions, but yes. Outside of a few games, and this is recent, PC gamers play against PC gamers, XBOX against XBOX and PS4 v PS4.
  17. I have a PS4 Pro on a 4K TV. It is sweet. The big difference between the two systems is the exclusives. The PS4 has dominated this generation. I have no brand loyalty. NES, SNES, PS, Jaguar, PS2, XBOX, XBOX360, Wii, PS4, 3DS, etc... Look at the game availability first. Make sure you aren't handicapping yourself out the gate with the choice of system. I can't play Forza, PUBG or Sea of Thieves. That makes me sad. If your grandson has a PS4 already, ask him. He might enjoy playing games with you. My best friend lives in Knoxville, I live in Kentucky. We play every Saturday night for a few hours. You don't have to sit on the same couch to play together. Then again, he may suggest the XBOX so he can play that when he visits.
  18. I have had my car skimmed twice in the last few months. Both times the charges started appearing days after I got fuel at a Murphy Oil. It wasn't hard to figure out how and where. The first time the bank caught it after $1000 in charges, they refunded it immediately, cancelled the card and shipped me a new one. The second time I caught it after a few hundred, called the bank and cancelled my card and waited a week to get my money refunded. I deal in cash now on my very rare trips to get fuel.
  19. I am an electric guy. I own a few acoustics. I have zero anecdotal experience or expertise to offer here. I however am an advocate for buying a quality less expensive guitar and having it modified, finished and set up by a quality luthier. Being a hobbyist luthier, I have $100 guitars, that after the proper parts and work, play as well as $1500 guitars at half the price. But again, in the world of electrics, that is more easily said than with an acoustic. I really like my Recording King Dirty 30s... A nut and bridge go a long way.
  20. I read a study once, it focused on the Eastern Seaboard, if the migration begins, by foot, 95% of them will die before coming over the Cumberland Plateau. The Appalachian Mountains will be very dangerous. That is of course not counting the existing population. Honestly I think that most urbanites will be too busy looting to worry about survival. History has shown this time and time again. It is my plan to bug in for a month minimum in my home. Defend and survive. Depending on the disaster, either 90% of the population will have ended themselves in that month, or order will be restored.
  21. I have been in the room twice now... Singing.
