Nope, HD, Lowe's, Targay and others just won't pay a living wage. That's why they can't get workers....plus the .gov programs pay too well to stay home.

In my area, with rent, utilities and such....around $15-$18 per hour......

I'm confused. They won't pay a living wage but living wage is $15-18?

Wal-Mart starts at $15, and $18 is moved to somewhat quickly.
Target starts at $18-$24 depending on shift/position
Home Depot starts at $15
Lowes is the exception who fits your criteria. They start about $11 but anyone with any skills/work ethic would quickly move up to $15-18.
Costco starts at $19.50 and it's not uncommon for front line workers to be around $30.

Not sure what is a living wage is these days but as I mentioned in another thread I have started buying at an Ace Hardware when possible, instead of Lowe's because of self checkout and the lack of staff at Lowe's to help when I need it.  The Ace has plenty of people to help customers.  I often pay a bit more but the extra service and knowing it is locally owned, often the owner is in the store working, it is worth it to me.
