If there were no guns, explosives, or bows. What would be your weapon of choice and why?

I would choose a ball bat. Pretty hard to brake and does major damage to whatever it hits knees, heads, etc. Also easy to replace.

I would choose a baseball bat as well, but, I would probably go with aluminum. Yes, it will bend, but its lighter and packs a punch against a head with that amount of velocity.

A short halberd-type spear with a weighted back end... Sort of a combo pike-mace affair, maybe 5 to 6 feet long, total.

Back that up with a short sword or long knife and I'd be good to go.

throwing knives, and learn to be accurate with them.

Keep the bad guys out of reach

X2.

I use to be alot better with a blade than I am now, so I'm sure if the need should arise it wouldn't take much practice to get back accurate with them. Then even if the BG is too close for throwing, you can still use them as close combat weapons.

One of the other things I think I'd have to invest in would be a good welded-link stainless steel chain mail shirt. One with a fairly fine "weave" so it wouldn't be too heavy.

Museum Replicas used to sell one as a "fantasy mail shirt", a few years ago, that would probably do.

It wouldn't have to do much more than stop a thrown knife, and let all you knife-flingers disarm yourselves without causing me too much grief. :P:D

If we're expanding on the self-defense mode, then I'd step that up to an Ironman suit so I could fly my keister outta there.

I'm working under the assumption that powered or hi-tech weapons are out, otherwise I'd have just said a phaser, lightsaber, etc.

I mean, hell, if a string and a stick to make a bow are too much to ask for, I'm guessing that servos and high-output power supplies are right out... :-\

We'll need a OP modification to say something like "primitive" or "simple" weapons for the TGOers that show up later. Gotta know ALL the rules so we can bend them.
