Yep, the sign of good boiled peanuts is you look like a pig eating them. Juice dribbling down your chin, hands a mess with shell and juice as well. And no matter what you do, you can't seem to get that next peanut open fast enough to eat.

So good.

Florida still has the best boiled peanuts I've ever had. There seems to be a boiled peanut stand around every corner there. Every time I visit my parents down there I stop at a stand near their place that has Cajun Boiled Peanuts; good stuff. I've tried making it myself but never could get it right.

I'm of the opinion that boiled peanuts are like grits. If you didn't acquire the taste for them when you were a kid, you probably never will.

When I was a kid, every time the first crop of Georgia runners came in, I stayed constipated for a month.

You are eating the shells too, right robtattoo? That's where all the flavor is.

I save the hulls and dice 'em up real fine and mix 'em in with my scrambled eggs. :D

My wife, who is from Montana and is a 5th grade reading/writing teacher (have to give you the set up there) ask me "why do they call them hot boiled? Isn't saying boiled, implying they are hot? Aren't you saying the same thing twice? And besides you eat them cold most of the time....."

Well she's got me there i guess. Don't care what you call them however. They are good and I like them!

Well you can buy them in the can at the store already boiled, so I guess those ones aren't hot yet... just boiled.

Mine were awesome last night. I used some:

--Spicy Jerk Seasoning (Kroger brand?)

--Salt

--Louisiana Hot Sauce

First time I've ever boiled my own peanuts, my room mates were making fun of me... then they tried them. Ate most of my dam peanuts (I actually still have some)!

I tried some in a bar on Okeechobee back in 04... can yuck! They were without the shells, so maybe I wasn't doing it right? Just not my thing I guess. Roasted peanuts now, YUM!

We're just joshing about eating the shells. I flick 'em at the cat.

It surprised the hell outta me when I gave my first wife her very first boiled peanut. She was one of them Vaaahhhhhnderbilt girls, so I knew she'd just turn her nose up and the rest of my bucket o'goobers would be safe. Except she liked 'em! Said they tasted like black-eyed peas.

So I cut her off and told her if she wanted black-eyed peas, I'd go get her some, but if her tastes were that unrefined, she weren't getting no more of my boiled peanuts.
