$1000 tax on your firearms

Recommended Posts

I was flipping radio stations today and just happened on WNOX 100.3 in knoxville. The thing that caught my attention was a person called in to the radio hosts radio show and was asking what and if he knew anything about the proposed $1000 tax on our firearms. The host really had no idea of such news but could only speculate that if it did happen it would be on new purchases only.

So the question is has anyone else heard of such nonsense?

Since approx. 3 out of 10 Americans own firearms, they should implement a non-ownership firearm tax penalty. You buy a firearm, or have to pay that $1000. It'll be like bailout #3, arm most of the country (yes I understand a lot of them shouldn't even own a paintball gun) and boost the economy instantly.

You laugh, but SCOTUS just said they can tax you for anything. Wait until they decide to charge gun owners a tax because of increased healthcare costs.

...and when they send the bill, how many will get returned with a [more detailed] picture and a few choice words. I will

Anything could be in that bill. No one has read it. I doubt the SCOTUS judges read the whole thing. I know obama did not. Most of the congresspersons asked did not. NO ONE HAS READ IT.

That said, this sounds like paranoid talk to me, not that government would not or could not try such a thing but that it is too blatent and too much too soon. Government tends to add small, hidden increases then grow those, like planting a seed. Its about time for them to try to increase the tax on ammo, for example: its in place, and probably not high enough to pay for obamacare without an increase....

Will it be a tax on real guns, or just Glocks? :hiding:

Yeah, Glocks are like plastic toys that can pass through metal detectors undetected aren't they? :stir::taunt: They certainly should be taxed in a different class. :jester: I better not let my G23 hear about this...it might actually malfunction on me for the first time.

But you have to have the Glock 7 model, you know the porcelain one that's made in Germany and costs more than what a police captain makes in a month.

I think of that movie line every time I hear someone talking about plastic guns. I own 1911 and XDs so I can talk about both. Lmao

All the more reason to practice more and when the time comes we need to be sure there isn't anything more that healthcare personel could do for the deceased perp eliminating the costs!
