One of my new favorite beers

I am not a very adventurous beer drinker.  I usually stick to a couple of domestics that I know that I like.

Heard about this beer the other day and found it yesterday.  You have to get it liquor stores because it is higher a content beer.

It is a nice beer with a hint of bourbon and a nice smokey oak flavor.  I really like it.

Thanks for that. I pick up specialty beers at the liquor store every so often when I'm feeling adventurous, but sometimes am very disappointed and end up forcing down the remaining beers or sharing with my dog. I'll definitely give this one a try.

I have never tasted beer.  I smelled it in Jr. High and thought "How do people drink this crap?".

Never really enjoyed any alcohol, and have only consumed about 12 oz. when you tally all the sips I tried over my 44 years of being alive.

Not a coffee drinker, either.  Same reasons.

When someone would tell me "it's an acquired taste", my reply would be "why would I take another sip of something I didn't enjoy during the first sip?"

That is some of my favorite beer right there, love it. For those around Nashville that want to give it a shot before commiting to the search, Burger Republic off of Nolensville has it on tap along with an impressive selection of other fine brews. Plus they make a killer burger so its pretty much a win win.

I tried some Guiness Black Lager on a whim tonight.  Thin, no mouth feel, watery, no after taste.  A dark beer should have body to it.  Regular Guiness is a bit too thin and watery for me as well, so I guess I shouldn't have been shocked that their Black Lager would be disappointing as well.

Just thought I'd pass that along.  Skip it and save your money.

You can tell when a bar knows how to pour Boddingtons correctly, it should take about 15 or so to get it from the tap to your table. It is a heavy, creamy beer that I only drink once in a blue moon. Highly recommended.

It's well worth it. I've been drinking it and a similar stout (bbc bourbon barrel) for about 3 years now.

The BBC stuff is very good (Bluegrass Brewing Company for the uninitiated ;) )

I'm with you on the acquired taste thing. If I drink something once and don't like it I don't go back. But beers are a lot like women: Some are nasty and stinky and not worth a second look. Others are beautiful and complex and inspire you to be better than you are. When you find one of the latter you hang on to it. :D

Black Lager does indeed suck. Have you tried their Foreign Extra Stout though? Not the regular Extra Stout with the beige label, but the high alcohol stuff you can only get at liquor stores. Good stuff!

One of my favorites.  Try Innis and Gunn, if you get the chance.

Love me some Innis and Gunn. I have tried three of their flavors and thought they were all worth it.

Yep - it is indeed better than regular Guinness.

I'm a major beer snob and typically the darker and higher ABV, the better.  I'll have to start a list of things I think people should try and compare notes with my fellow hopheads.  Dark beer and small batch bourbons are my thing.
