I am looking for a summer carry option. Right now i carry a sig 1911 full-size, it isn't that easy to conceal in some of my shorts. I am leaning towards a nano or maybe a glock 26. Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

nano trigger is very very very bad.

Sig 938 is a great pick, a lot like what you are used to (1911ish).

Glocks are fat, they are all double stack.  If that is OK, then the small one is a reasonable pick.

For summer I usually carry either a j-frame or iffin I need something even more concealable, an LCP.

This is what I do as well.   Other of my family members have the M&P Shields in 9 and 40.  I can still sneak it in a pair of cargo type shorts with a pocket holster like Uncle Mikes.

I am a die hard Glock owner, but have been reading a lot about the Springfield Armory XDS 9mm and 45 ACP. Also been discussing then on MS gun owners site which everyone gave them rave reviews. Went to local gun store Friday and held the 45 in my hands and compared it to a Glock 36 single stack. The XDS is only 1 inch wide and very concealable. The 9mm and 45 are exactly the same size. 45 only carries 5+1, but if I cannot deal with situation with 6 shots I am somewhere I never should have gone. I purchased the 45 ACP and have already run over 200 rounds of reloaded hardball and Winchester JHP. The pistol worked flawlessly and is a straight shooter. Only issue I had was my old hands had problem with slide release on reload. I feel it will get better and easier with use.

I do have a Sig P238 that I sometimes carry in the pocket of my shorts during summertime if I am very casual. I really like it also. It is a single action which some people have a hang up with. It is very good for close personal protection.

Pistol comes with molded paddle holster and paddle 2 mag carrier plus different size replaceable backstrap. I am very pleased with this purchase and pistols capabilities. I would recommend. I did not look at the 9mm very much because I am not a 9mm fan, but it does I believe have an 8 or 9 rd magazine. You can also order 7 round magazines for the 45.

I had actually looked into the xds 45 then i forgot about them. Thanks for reminding me, that would make life easier with only two kinds of ammo(my wife has a .380). I guess I'll throw it back in the ring for consideration

Is it just carrying a full-sized handgun?  I carry both my Glock 17 and 19 AIWB.  No issues with concealment whatsoever.

If you want to pick up an ultra-concealable pistol for, say, the atypical non-permissive environment, look no further than the S&W Shield, in 9mm.

380 is pricy but if you are OK with it the sig 238 is like the 9 I recommended and can share ammo with the wife.

Colt (defender & new agent) and para make small .45s as well.  So do some other companies but again, guessing if you like your 1911 you might want to go with a "1911ish" variation so the safety & trigger are similar to the brick?

If anything at all is on the table there are quite a few other small 45s, 9s, and 380s that may be of interest.

This^! A friend bought a Nano. The damn trigger pull was so far that I thought it wasn't even workin' half the time. Only took, like 9 feet, to pull it to a fire position. They suck mucho, mucho! 938 is a go, though.

I've been very happy with my Kahr PM9 in both concealability and shootability - the trigger is excellent.  My PM9 resides IWB under an untucked shirt, and is a bit large for pocket carry in typical non-cargo / non-pleated shorts unless you're a bigger guy than me (33" waist).  If you're looking for something smaller than that, the Taurus TCP has a very smooth DA pull and is more suited to pocket carry.  While I find it odd that I'm putting a recommendation for Kahr and Taurus in the same paragraph, it's the absolute truth, but the "good" Taurus triggers do not extend across the line.  If you like the trigger on a Kahr or TCP, you will hate the trigger on a 709 Slim.

I carry my G26 every day, IWB. Shorts and a tee are just fine.

I am currently enamored with the XDS and I'll echo another poster and say the XDS in .45 seems perfect for you. You'll lose 2 rounds compared to your 1911 but thems the breaks, eh?

I'm sure you've already watched it but here is a great vid, anyway...

I am really leaning towards the xds. I'm going to the lgs to see if they have one in stock, to see how it feels in my hand. I had a p238 that i carried for a little over two years, i loved it but i stripped a grip screw, well cross threaded then stripped. So i traded it in on the 1911. I like the 1911 platform but if i like the xds it might just be my permanent carry and let the 1911 be the nightstand gun. I had a Taurus 709 slim, it was terrible so i never considered a tcp. I gave my dad my lcp when i bought the p238. I have never heard a bad word about a kahr or a xds. The more YouTube i watch the more i lust after the xds. I appreciate all the input, it's always good to have the opinions of like minded people.

I have a Glock 26 and a Nano.  I carry the 26 in an OWB holster when I can cover it up, and pocket or IWB carry the Nano when I need something slimmer/smaller/smoother.

I like the Nano a lot - nothing wrong with my trigger.
