Photographing a handgun with an object in the trigger gaurd.

When did people start sticking objects inside the trigger guard of a handgun before they photograph it? Why do they do that?  I think the reason people do it is because they see other people doing it and they think it's "the hip way" to take a picture.

Because it lets you get at the proper distance and angle without needing a ladder to stand on.

I'm not trying to start anything, but I don't buy that.  Sticking an object in the trigger guard is not the only way to set up a handgun without climbing a ladder. That beautiful 1911 would look better if I could see the trigger.  OK maybe I have started something....it's all in good fun.  Go ahead a tell me to mind my own business....

Most people don't have a light box or reflectors to get the light adjusted as to not have glares. Most room light is from overhead so in order to not get it washed out a 45 angle is easiest to work with. I've never been able to balance a gun on its muzzle without assistance.

To me, it's not worth the effort. Not a professional photog just showing off new toys.
