American Eagle 5.56 Green Tip Ammo Panic

Recommended Posts

Curiosity got me cruising ArmsList.

.66 / round at the low end.

hope these profiteers take it in the shorts...especially since there is movement in both houses of Congress to stop this clear violation of the 2A, using half truths and misdirection to illicit emotions as opposed to fact

I don't own anything in .223 and don't shoot my SKS all that much (although I still feel for y'all that do.)  I am thinking that maybe I need to buy a metric crap ton of 12 gauge buckshot shells before some doofus at the BATFE decide that, because buckshot allows a shotgun to fire multiple projectiles with a single trigger pull, it effectively turns a single shot 12 gauge into a 'machine gun' and means that a pump shotgun is a weapon of mass destruction.

EXCLUSIVE: Common AR-15 Green Tip Ammunition Already Banned in New ATF Regulation Guide

On Friday February 13 at 4:00 pm, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms released a proposal to ban commonly used M855 "green tip" AR-15 ammunition under the guise of law enforcement safety. The same day the proposal was released, on a Friday of a three day holiday weekend, ATF opened up a shortened 30-day period for the public to submit comments about the new regulation.

But it turns out, ATF has been working on a ban of AR-15 "green-tip" ammunition for quite some time and has already issued the ban in its new, 2014 Regulation Guide. For reference, ATF Regulation Guides come out approximately every ten years.

When you take a look at the 2005 ATF Regulation Guide, you'll see an exemption for AR-15 "green-tip" ammunition, which means it exempted from the definition of "armor piercing" and therefore is legal on the federal level.

I expect cheaper 9mm to evaporate soon too. Whole thing is very much like the days between Sandy Hook and Manchin-Toomey in that even things that weren't remotely under consideration for banning were all snapped up.

I'm actually more than a bit surprised that all Russian ammo has not been embargoed. Yet.

OS,
I often wonder how things are going to turn out for all ammo.

Not trying to yell that the sky is falling or anything.

So many uncertainties in todays market. Political climate also make things shaky too.

Going to take a wait and see approach on the current issue.

I just hope that the vultures don`t come swooping in and clean everything out that is available other than what is on the table for a possible ban.

For some odd reason, I`ll bet that if .gub put lead pellets on the table to be banned, I wonder how fast all of the firearm ammo would disappear? LOL!

Ever notice how the stores around these parts go dry on milk and bread when bad weather is about to show up?

I have seen folks at the bread store buying 3 months or more of bread for a 2 day spurt of snow. ROFL!

Hey, I can understand the logic about being prepared and all but good grief! Folks buying up All of the .223 lead core ammo & other caliber ammo that isn`t even being thought of by the goobers in DC..............

you get the idea.

Sometimes these various AR and ammo scares are likely used as a little extra "wife leverage" ... "Hon, I had to go ahead and stockup 'cuz it might not be on the market for much longer. It'll be a great investment."

Various Presidents have attempted to abolish the obsolete and duplicative AFT, without success.....they gotta a good union....and no other agency wants the loose cannons and just plain fools and idiots that populate that agency.....not saying they don't have some good people, but they must hide them pretty well.

I just browsed gunbroker and got a chuckle out of the current bidding. You have got to feel like a jackass if your the last bid at $0.60 or higher when that letter dropped. No backing out now

I would bet that a lot of Buyers get a negative feedback for failing to complete the transaction.

The day before the story broke I had put in an order for 2k bullets from Weidners, cause I was getting low, should be good till the prices come back down.  But I don't think this is a done deal...  It will come back, sooner rather than later.

Let us hope that it is later.

MUCH later.

If they push, we push harder.
