ATT Crashes

Recommended Posts

Funny, my phone won't call or ring but I can get on the Internet through it.

Not unusual. Network prioritization tends to reserve some network technologies (typically 3G, HSPA+ and LTE) exlusively for data, and the lower techs for voice application. If you've ever used data during a voice call, you'll only see one network tech icon (like 4G, LTE, etc...) but you are actually using two tech types at once, one for the voice call and the other for data. The magic of network prioritization!

I'm aware of that.

Everyone claim down. I understand while the Media has distracted us with Flags and Lions the NSA has been upgrading the network to route all traffic though their central hub for more efficient data collection and mining. When the upgrade is complete the internet and phone service will return to normal. Next year they will install your sex monitoring chips. However you will still have the right to chose which hand it goes in.

Has anyone figured it out yet? Hackers? Or something more sinister.

Think about it, most Americans use cell phones so if you take that away you take away their ability to call for help. I read that one police department was crippled by this because most communications, even within the department, went through cell phone systems.

Almost like some sort of DDOS attack along with an attack on the phone system. They are two different systems so for both to be affected it must be some sort of catastrophic screw up or a dedicated attack on both systems. I think the data side was hit with a DDOS attack because the network is still working, just super slow. Took a minute for a small "test" text to go through.

The phone side of it has been out for me since 3:15 and has not returned. The data side has worked but very slow.

It was a hardware issue. Not sure what all I'm supposed to say just yet, but we were on the phone the whole afternoon. It's 7:33PM CDT and we just hung up. Looks like everything is back to normal. I was without LTE and U-Verse, lots of Internet backbone stuff was down, etc. Basically anything that ran on IP in the Southeast and even a little beyond was affected.

Strange, my wife at home with u-verse internet have full service. I even skyped her fine because I couldn't make a regular phone call on Cricket.
