  1. I called and the lady says the price is for real. I hope nobody takes them up on it
  2. I have a Keltec 380 which is about the same as the LCP for when I need a really small gun. It's a bit snappy but I bought a 9 round magazine and it gives a lot more control and makes it more fun to shoot. I can still pocket carry with the 9 rounder and draw just as well as with a 6 round mag. If I have a really small pocket I would use the 6 round and carry the 9 as an extra. So far I haven't had to resort to that.
  3. I'll pass but I turned my cousin on to it. She's needing them enough to pay the price.
  4. I have a 30SF that I carry IWB in a Don Hume. It does the job pretty well but it is pretty wide. Not as uncomfortable as some guns though. I've been thinking about an OWB to carry in the winter months when it's easier to cover without being obvious. The 30SF will feed anything I put in it. I usually keep Gold Dots or Golden Sabers in it for carry purposes. They work very well. With spring coming on I'll be carrying my LCR more often though. For me, pocket carry with the LCR is more comfortable and just as accessible.
  5. So far never, I just meant that it's 6 rounds of 00 and 1 of buck and ball. Therefore it's mostly 00 buck. Sorry to mislead.
  6. I use 00 buck mostly. The first shell I load is a buck and ball round that kicks like a mule. First in, last out. Then I know I'm empty and have to reload.
  7. I renewed mine early and got it in about 2 weeks. You should have no problem getting it on time.
  8. When my niece was in 2nd grade she was waving goodbye to her best friend that just got off the bus when a drunk driver ran her over and killed her. Most of the kids on the bus saw the whole thing. She said she didn't see the large yellow bus with the flashing lights and stop sign. The next day the school had an event of which the girl that was killed was to have had a major part. Lots of tears and grief at the event.
  9. I don't argue too much about these things anymore. I was looking for ammo at Walmart one night and some guy started a conversation about wanting a KelTec shotgun but changed his mind because "00 buck would blow the gun up". He was so sure that he even convinced a couple of other guys that were buying ammo too. No need to argue with him, he was absolutely positive about it.
  10. I went to Smyrna Academy today to pick up a holster and came out with 2 boxes of 22 as a bonus. Also got 100 rounds of 9mm. I wasn't asking about the 22's but overheard one of the sales guys tell someone he had them. 3 others did too so we all got our quota. I'll be giving my 2 boxes to my cousin who just began shooting and needs them worse than I do.
  11. Orient was a great dog. Bill wrote a children's book about him. My grand daughter reads it quite often and her friends love it too. "Orient, hero dog guide  of the Appalachian Trail". He autographed it for her. It's by far her favorite book.
  12. Bill Irwin is to date the only blind hiker to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. He passed away today of prostate cancer. He was a close personal friend, a motivational speaker and an amazing person in general. Here is an article on him and he also has written books, Blind Courage, which is my favorite.   http://webhost.bridgew.edu/jhuber/readings/an_historic_accomplishment.html

  14. I almost bought a used 5.7 last year but after comparing to my fnx-9 decided against it. The 5.7 is actually a bit bigger and heavier. The ballistics are much better for 9mm. 20 round magazine or 17 round mag not that big a difference. The only advantage I saw to the 5.7 was recoil and follow up shots. Also 9mm ammo is much cheaper. I like the 5.7 but didn't buy it because of cost of the gun itself and ammo. Overpriced in my opinion.
  15. Mine is on order. My cousin tried to order 2 minutes later and it was gone. I'll probably let her have mine. She  only has 50 rounds. Email says to be delivered on 2/17/14.
  16. Gibsons tend to be pricey. I haven't seen the specs on this one or played one. You can get an Epiphone which is owned by Gibson cheaper with nearly as much quality. Some say more. Check out Musicians Friend online and check out the prices. There are some good guitar stores around Murfreesboro and Nashville too.
  17. I've been thinking I could use a new Gibson anyway.......
  18. I use a Fenix LD 41 (520 Lumens) and a Fenix LD 20 (180 Lumens). Both use AA batteries and have not given me any trouble. I keep rechargeables ready but battery life is longer with alkaline. I have a weapon mounted Streamlight TLR 1 too which has been reliable also. The Fenix lights seem to be cheaper but quality wise they are comparable.
  19. I use night sights on my Glock and my FNP 45. I also have a TLR 1 that I can use on whichever gun is in standby at the moment. Also a good flashlight on the night stand. The more options the better in my opinion.
  20. My wife doesn't like guns, period. She won't shoot one, won't pick one up, doesn't even want to look at them. I don't push it on her,  it would just make her worse. That being said, I get to shoot all the ammo up by myself. Let the lady shoot a revolver if she likes it. At least she's shooting. Besides that, an LCR is my main carry gun along with my Glock 30. I happen to like them both.
  21. I just love my FNX - 9. Very good shooting pistol, DA/SA with a decocker/safety. Comes with 3 17 round mags. Can be carried cocked and locked like a 1911 or decocked and double action on the first shot which is what I prefer. I haven't shot a S&W M&P but I hear lots of good things about those.
  22. I'll be there looking for a semi auto .22 like a Ruger SR22 or a Walther p22 for my cousin. She's never been to a gun show before and is excited. I told her to skip the Nashville show and I'd do M'boro with her, I've always had better luck there. She has RA and can't rack a slide on many guns but she can on my Walther. They usually have a good selection and people walking around with stuff to sell.
  23. A piece of string walks into a bar and orders a beer. Bartender says we don't serve string in here, get out. The string walks outside and asks the first guy he sees to tie him into a knot. He does then takes out his pocket knife. "What's that for" asks the string. I just want to cut off the scraggly part on top. No says the string, I like it. He goes back into the bar and orders a beer. Bartender asks "aren't you the same string I just kicked out"? The strings says "I'm a frayed knot".
  24. I built Craftsman power tools in Paris, Tn. back in the early 70's. Sears would always threaten to send our business overseas if we couldn't sell it to them cheaper when the new contract came around. Glad I left when I did, they sent it overseas and that pretty much did the factory in. They were great tools back then, I knew bench saws and Radial arm saws inside and out. I don't think I'd buy one now.
