  1. I use a Fenix LD 41 (520 Lumens) and a Fenix LD 20 (180 Lumens). Both use AA batteries and have not given me any trouble. I keep rechargeables ready but battery life is longer with alkaline. I have a weapon mounted Streamlight TLR 1 too which has been reliable also. The Fenix lights seem to be cheaper but quality wise they are comparable.
  2. I use night sights on my Glock and my FNP 45. I also have a TLR 1 that I can use on whichever gun is in standby at the moment. Also a good flashlight on the night stand. The more options the better in my opinion.
  3. My wife doesn't like guns, period. She won't shoot one, won't pick one up, doesn't even want to look at them. I don't push it on her,  it would just make her worse. That being said, I get to shoot all the ammo up by myself. Let the lady shoot a revolver if she likes it. At least she's shooting. Besides that, an LCR is my main carry gun along with my Glock 30. I happen to like them both.
  4. I just love my FNX - 9. Very good shooting pistol, DA/SA with a decocker/safety. Comes with 3 17 round mags. Can be carried cocked and locked like a 1911 or decocked and double action on the first shot which is what I prefer. I haven't shot a S&W M&P but I hear lots of good things about those.
  5. I'll be there looking for a semi auto .22 like a Ruger SR22 or a Walther p22 for my cousin. She's never been to a gun show before and is excited. I told her to skip the Nashville show and I'd do M'boro with her, I've always had better luck there. She has RA and can't rack a slide on many guns but she can on my Walther. They usually have a good selection and people walking around with stuff to sell.
  6. A piece of string walks into a bar and orders a beer. Bartender says we don't serve string in here, get out. The string walks outside and asks the first guy he sees to tie him into a knot. He does then takes out his pocket knife. "What's that for" asks the string. I just want to cut off the scraggly part on top. No says the string, I like it. He goes back into the bar and orders a beer. Bartender asks "aren't you the same string I just kicked out"? The strings says "I'm a frayed knot".
  7. I built Craftsman power tools in Paris, Tn. back in the early 70's. Sears would always threaten to send our business overseas if we couldn't sell it to them cheaper when the new contract came around. Glad I left when I did, they sent it overseas and that pretty much did the factory in. They were great tools back then, I knew bench saws and Radial arm saws inside and out. I don't think I'd buy one now.
  8. Could just carry a .357 wheel gun. They have more muzzle energy than a .40 or a .45 and they aren't likely to jam.
  9. Good to see it brought back to life!!
  10. I like my Glock 30sf. 10 + 1 and the option of Glock 21 mags for reloading or home defense. I like commander size 1911's but not for carry because I don't like safeties. I just have carried revolvers for so long I would have to do some serious retraining to remember to drop the safety in a stressful situation.

    New LCR-X

I like external hammers too. That's one reason I like my FN semi autos. All my revolvers have hammers except my LCR. I do like the LCR though for what it's intended. Great dependable gun for close up work if it becomes necessary. No need for single action accuracy for this gun. If I carry a wheel gun with an external hammer it will be OWB and no worries about snagging coming out of the pocket. By the way, I want an LCRx too.
  12.  I really love my LCR. 158 grain magnums are brutal, don't care for those at all in this gun but the Gold Dot short barrel 135 grain magnums are not much worse, if any, than the Remington +p 38's. I use the Gold Dots for when I carry. The 642 S&W is a great little gun too but I prefer the trigger of the LCR. I added a night sight to mine not long after I got it because I just couldn't see the black sight that comes on the gun. It really makes a difference with these old eyeballs of mine.
  13. I keep 2 mags for my FNP 45 and Glock 30 loaded with hollow points all the time. My other mags are empty which I use when target shooting. That way I don't have to unload the hollow points just to go shooting. My wheel guns all stay loaded at all times. No worries about springs with those for sure. I did hear a story about a police officer that kept his revolver loaded with the same ammo for 25 or so years and when he tried to unload it, the cartridges had expanded over time and have to be driven out. I do shoot my revolvers enough to keep that from happening.
  14. Night stand gun is an FNP 45 with 15+1 rounds of Gold Dots with an extra mag loaded next to it. Also my carry gun is close by too, Glock 30 or LCR .357.
  15. I have a Dell with XP and Comcast so I tried to download the free Norton software but it just will not install. I even had a hard drive crash and started out from day one and it still wont install the Norton. I downloaded free AVG and have been happy with it ever since. My computer did work well with Mcafee when it was the free virus software from Comcast but when the updates stopped because Comcast switched to Norton I had to go to AVG.
  16. I was in Mrs. Mcknight's 4th grade class in Dyersburg. One of the other teachers called her to the door to tell her he was shot then later came back to say he was dead. I was glued to the tv for the next 3 days. I also saw Oswald shot live.
  17. How about one of these?   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u17ll043Ld8
  18. I placed an order on Saturday night, the UPS tracking says it will be here by days end today. I've always had good results from Midway so far. My only gripe is the shipping charges sometimes so I try to wait until I can get several items to spread the cost. Then it's not too bad on shipping cost per item.
  19. I have pocket carried Kel-tec p3at, P11 and Ruger LCR. My favorite for now is the LCR. I just shoot it better and I like the way it feels in my hand opposed to the smaller semi autos.
  20. One night years ago a patient came into the ER that had a toothache. One of her "friends" told her to gargle with gasoline to cure it. She did and promptly afterwards lit a cigarette. Hence the trip to the ER.
  21. I really like my LCR. It's a .357 but can shoot 38 in it too. Several ladies have tried it and liked it with .38 and even .38 +p. It also comes in .22 magnum if recoil is a problem.
  22. I would have to agree with the title here   http://www.vidaddict.com/worst-death-scene-ever-in-a-movie/
  23. Sorry for your loss. Savor the time you spent with him. Both of my grandfathers died before I was born. I would love to have the memories you must enjoy. I like the t shirt thing you have going there.
  24. An old girlfriend used to say  I was tough as whitleather. It sounded to me like she was calling me Tuffus Whitleather so it became my alter ego. An expression I had never heard at that time.
  25. Scored some Remington Golden Bullets, 525 round box at Midway today for $20.99. Called my brother, sold out 5 minutes later. Shipping was $19.00 but I added a holster for my S&W 686 to offset the shipping and the charge became $15.25 for shipping for both items. I wonder how they decide shipping charges.
