area-knoxville Prepper & gunshow @ expo this weekend
gjohnsoniv replied to Teaspoon's topic in Events and Gatherings
Finally, they're being more honest about what's at these shows. Though adding in beef jerky to the name would be great. -
The frame is just big channel so I'm not that worried. Biggest thing is there is a sizeable gap between the vertical posts and the horizontal cross member. Realistically it could likely be taken care of with some washers, but I just don't like that approach.
-
Glad to see I'm not out of line on wanting to weld it up.
-
I should add there's also an alignment tool from Requiem Arms that I'm thinking I'll pick up for grins future use.
-
The barrel alignment is concerning but it's something I think you just have to do. What I did is take a straight edge and line it up on the front trunnion and then on the handguard retainer to make sure that it's relatively square. There's some play in the retainer so it only gets you so far but whatever.

That would probably be the best description. Bulgarian triangle. Bulgarian FSP with threads, ak 74 brake, probably Romy parts kit for the guts. Bring the FSP back as far as I can go with the pinned brake and be legal.

I was wondering what happened to that one. It was on the wall for a couple weeks and gone when I was in there the other day.

Welcome to the fun world of Russian weapons. As an off note, did you get that over at SIA?

^That one still needs some work so I can't do pictures now but I have my personal Romanian to do, an RPK, and some form of a mutt build so there will be plenty of pictures of the build process. So far as tools a press is a given, I have the Harbor Freight 12 ton. Great? Not really but it works. It's slightly wobbly and that makes me really nervous because I've seen lots of things come flying out of presses, and a guy catch part of a press plate with his face. Best solution is shims or just square it all up and weld some things to take the slop out. Anyway that was just an aside. Outside of that I'd really, really recommend the AK Builder tools. Riveting jig, trigger rivet jig, and barrel press kit. Robert Forbus also makes really nice AK build tools like populating tools and barrel press out jig, recommended for when you do the head space. Also headspace gauges, those are critical.

Video no, but I can put up a list and pictures of what I have and how to do it. Hopefully some more experienced will also hop in for anything I'd miss plus any other details.

Started on an AK last night with my neighbor. Got almost everything finished except for some pinning. Now time to finish up my couple that have been sitting around... Looks like my photo didn't upload. Picture tonight.

Pretty well sums up that Glock is becoming like Colt, people will buy it because of the name (albeit I like Glock far better than Colt). Handled one tonight and it was meh. Some upgrades have been made, cool, but nothing earth shattering. I'll admit that one will probably find its way into my collection in maybe a year or two when all the kinks have been worked out and aftermarket support has dropped in price.

Yeah, work, what fun that will be.

Post the last firearm related thing you bought!

All the AK build tools. -
I had some on my car for a while that I got from sales reps and whatnot but pulled all of them off. Not getting paid for them so why advertise. Fortunately my car is covert enough to not draw any attention. Those on here who know me get that joke, just have to slap a Hillary/bernie/Green Peace sticker on and I'd be golden.

Not enough.

You can wet the inside of the holster slightly and put your gun in wrapped in a ziploc bag or saran wrap. Leave it to sit overnight or so.

What to do with your eclipse glasses (seriously)

They would work I suppose, but you would have the world's goofiest case of coon eyes. Not to mention any "spill" for lack of a better description getting to you. -
This is certainly true.

Something that's cool if you're into metal work and sculpture is the National Ornamental Metal Museum.

Everything that needs to be said has been said. Despite the Memphis jokes it's really not that bad.
