1. My daughter shoots Trap with SCTP, ATA and a little International with USAS. I mostly carry and pay for stuff :)   I will be trying my first ATA singles match this weekend. Should be good for a chuckle.   She shoots a 682 Gold Trap. I got her hand me down, an 1100 Trap.
2. A salute to all the Shade Tree Mechanics out there    If we did everything by the factory service manuals it would take at least three times as long and cost three times as much.   Back in 1999 I wanted to put headers on my Camaro but did not have access to a lift. With only floor jacks and jack stands I was not able to get the car the needed 30" safely off the ground. Since I could not go up I went down. I dug a 3' hole in my yard and pushed the car over the hole. The real feat of the whole effort was getting my wife to lay in the hole and hold the header in place while I bolted it on  :)
3. I mostly know Trap, but my .02   It really depends on the game. The barrel length has more to do with the speed/smoothness of the swing as well as the balance of the gun. Trap seems to prefer a longer barreled heavier gun setup for rising targets. When I switch from a 8.5lb 30" Barrel gun to a 6.5lb 26" barreled gun I am always way ahead of the target as it swings so much faster than the longer/heavier gun. I've recently grown fond of a 34" barreled gun for singles. Such a smooth feeling gun. A lot of trap shooters also prefer a high rib. As a two eyed shooter, being able to see under the barrel is a big advantage.   Use a choke that fills a 30" circle at 20-25yds for skeet and 40yds for trap as a guideline. Being you already shoot it for competition I'm sure you've already patterned it for fit and POA vs POI.   Bottom line, give it a try. I'm sure everybody has heard the stories of the guy with the 870 pump out shooting the guy with the 12K P gun :)
4.   Holy Cow. I have not heard that name is years. I grew up in north and central FL until ~1980.

cz 75

Anybody have first hand experience with the recoil difference between the full size B/BD and the PCR/Compact?  I'm looking at a 75BD now for something low recoil that the rest of my family will shoot. They would have nothing to do with a 1911/45. I would like to have the option of occasionally carrying it if I feel I needed more than my EDC M13.
6. I'm planning on being there tomorrow with one of my daughters. I've been a member at the old Owl Hollow range for a few years now, but we are looking for a change from just shooting paper or clays off of the berm. I don't have anything that will reach out  beyond ~150 yds, so I'll mostly be interested in the 22 and short range stuff.
7. Quick question. Would a full sized modern revolver with the appropriate number of speed loaders meet the requirements? Currently my only semi-auto is a 6" S&W 422 :)
8.   It really depends on where you are in Franklin.   Go to www.tvfool.com and put in your address and it will generate a radar plot that looks like this:   http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=29&q=id%3d2c15ffa1ecc07f   It will give you an idea of what kind of antenna you will need. I'm in Thompsons Station and I get all of the channels north of me with a Channel Master CM4228HD in my attic and a amplifier. I can also pickup a number of the southern station out of Huntsville if I point the antenna south.     The main channels I get are: ABC NBC CBS - This one can be a little spotty FOX CW ION PBS
9. HELL YES! Week four of no cable and I could not be happier. I am on the extreme edge of both Nashville and Huntsville based stations but with a good attic antenna I get all of the networks and a few others thrown in. I did go with a Tivo to get channel guide and DVR functions but definitely feel good about dumping Charter due to very poor service and cost. Between the streaming providers that I already had subscriptions for and OTA I don't feel like I am missing anything. The only downside is that I will not be able to watch Walking Dead on Sunday nights, I will have to wait an extra day.   For OTA go to tvfool.com and enter your address to get an idea of what you can expect to be able to receive.

scary gun

My real world experience says they are a POS.   I've had a RG38 for ~30 years. Only fired it once. I made it through a cylinder SA and on the third round DA the timing was so bad that it ripped the copper jacket off of the bullet and jammed the cylinder. I had to pry it open to get the last three live rounds out of it. It did not explode but it still counts as a major fail to me.
11. After a three month battle Charter over a good sized billing issue I gave my TV disconnect notice Friday. I have a good sized in-attic antenna for OTA and hope to have a Roku 3 waiting under the tree. It is going to be a change of habits, but dropping that $150 a month will be worth it. The disconnect agent kept trying to lower my payments after I had already told him I was done. Once I told him that even if they paid me to use their service I would not accept he finally stopped and just took the info for the disco. Funny I did not get a chance to give the post call customer service survey they kept talking about :)
12. Do you know if it is a lightweight or a standard? There are two different versions on the lightweight, both built on a 28g frame. The standard is built on a 12g frame. The LW is the early model starting ~1971 and the LT later replaced the LW. The major difference is a longer barrel tang on the LT. Getting LW barrels at a decent price is hard. Most replacements are running about $250 and up.   Does it have screw in or fixed choke?     I have three 1100s and paid well south of $400 for 2 of them. The third was a new 1100 Trap that was a good bit more :) Based on the condition and the choke I would not pay more than $400 for one, but I'm cheap.   I have an LW that is really light and shoots well, but if I had to do it over again I would opt for a full sized standard for the heavier gun. The LWs felt recoil is about the same as my full sized 12g 1100s with target loads. But if you are toting it through the field all day the LW 6lb gun is nice.
13. I'm in the same boat with my gas water heater. Late last week it started running luke warm at best within just a few minutes. My money is on the dip tube at the moment. Guess I will be learning to solder copper pipes this week.
14. The stock is a Jack West stock. Here is more info http://jackweststocks.com/index_files/Page354.htm.   We looked at the Competition last year when my daughter was looking for a Trap gun, but ended up going with a Classic Trap instead. The Competition has a Heavy Contour Target barrel that does not seem very popular. Most seem to like the old Light Contour barrel better.
15. Chili is one of those foods that I associate the taste to what I had growing up. This is what was passed down to me and now my oldest made her first batch a few weeks ago and nailed it.    It is a very simple recipe, not a competition winner ( I like Beans!) but this is what chili is to me :)   ~3 lbs meat 2 cloves garlic 1 med onion chopped 2/3 to whole 2.5 oz jar chili powder 3 Tbs cumin 5 15 oz cans kidney beans 2 cans Rotel 4 28 oz cans tomato sauce 1 28 oz can crushed tomato     Brown meat, onions and the spices together.   Add everything else. Let cook for an hour or so and add 1-2 cups water if needed.   Simmer as long as you can stand the aroma without eating. Just don't burn the bottom!
16. Did someone say Oscar? :D Here is one that I was "gifted" by one of my daughters that got tired of weekly water changes. He was in a 30g up until last weekend. He is a VERY happy fish in his 75g. I still have some work to do, but I'm surpised he let me put some plants in the tank and not shredded them. He is about 11" and ~ 2 years old now. He was about 2 inches when she got him and was in a 10g tank. I feel bad he was in a 30g at his size, but the growth snuck up on me. From what I read he still has 3-7 inches to grow. I think about 14" is probably realistic.
17. Mine is not really a Safe Queen, it just has not been shot much. My father decided for some reason in '84 that he had to have a 336 in 30-30. He does not hunt, I think he just wanted a lever gun. It has only had about 10 rounds put through it for the first time a couple of years ago. Here it is with my 39a before the 1984 joined the herd. Academy Sports

Yep, me too. I bought a shotgun there last month and not only no tax, but they took my offer $25 less than the asking price and free shipping.

Give Bellshire Hardware a call. I bought my RIA Tactical from them and they had the lowest price I could find, even online.
20. I was a little surprised when I took my course when the instructor broke out B29 targets. That thing looked mighty small after practicing on B27s the days before :)
21. I always used Never Dull Magic wadding to remove the powder from the front of the cylinder on my 686. I don't think I would recommend it for a blued gun but it works great on SS.
22. Does anybody recall seeing a 1100 Classic Trap at a LGS around Nashville lately?   They have one at Franklin GS but I would like to explore my options before giving them my money.
23. Here is mine. Serious DA timing issues Definitely worth what I paid for it. It was free
24. RIO is the ammo provider for my daughter's school clay shooting team. We had just placed a good sized order a couple of weeks ago, but not sure when that will get fulfilled at this point. Hopefully fairly soon. At 200+ shells a week, Wally World and Academy are going to get expensive :(
