  1. Do they get a list of all guns sold by manufacturers (presumably to distributors) or imported? I hope someone comes along soon with an explanation, because they shouldn't have a database of retail purchasers--at least as I understand it. I wonder what they do with the paperwork they get from FFL holders that relinquish their license. If they bother to enter that into a database, that might explain it. I'm not sure that sounds good, either.
  2. This tidbit is not London specific, but don't wear worn out shoes, and be sure she wears good socks (if she wears socks). I did a lot of walking in DC last year and had painful blisters. I figured the worn out shoes were better than buying brand new ones, but I'm not sure that was right. Gel insoles did help.
  3. When I was a teenager I was walking down a fairly busy street on a Friday night with a couple of friends. One of my friends got hit with a water balloon thrown from a car doing about 40mpg. He later found out it was some other friends of his that didn't realize it was him. Fortunately he wasn't injured, but it did sting for sure.
  4. I suppose the officer might have handled it that way if that was the reason for the stop, but it was apparently just a pretext. He was pulled over for suspicion of robbery--a robbery he did not commit. http://www.kare11.com/news/police-scanner-audio-1/267042738 http://www.startribune.com/audio-officers-discuss-stopping-philando-castile-s-car/386337111/ I wonder if we'll ever know how the jury came to the "not guilty" conclusion.

    Memphis Storms

Collierville doesn't seem to have been hit as hard as Memphis. Based on the local utility outage map, I'd say the SW third of the city was hit the hardest. The neighborhood where my parents live in East Memphis had a large tree completely uprooted as well as several trees that lost large limbs or even significant parts of the trunk. That's in addition to all of the little stuff that was blown out of the trees. Their power went out last night around 23:00, and I wouldn't be surprised if it the repairs take a week.
  8. Thanks for the update. I didn't go to either this year. I wonder if they were doing that for the BSMF, too. As I mentioned, they didn't do that last year.
  9. If you haven't been to the zoo in the last ten (10) years, I would recommend that. They also don't allow weapons, but I do not believe they were legally posted the last time I was there. They definitely weren't searching. Saturday should be "safe" but busy. For others' reference Tuesday is a free (or pay what you can) day, and that's when you're more likely to run into crowds of riff raff.
  10. Last year I went to BSMF (Sunday) and the BBQ contest (Thursday). They were searching bags at the entrance for BSMF, but no one was checking for weapons on body. The ticket conditions for BSMF did prohibit guns, so I did carefully observed the ticket taking and "screening" process before going through. I don't recall whether it was "posted", but I don't think it was. I went for lunch on Thursday for the BBQ contest, and security was very lax. I suspect they tighten up a little on Thursday night or Friday. I think that law is the reason they do not bother screening closely. As far as I know Memphis' only battle against the law is Beale Street. They seem to have given in to state law in the parks. There were metal detectors at FedEx Forum for the last Grizzlies' game. I think that's standard NBA policy. I hope that helps.
  11. On a serious note, look at the Scarecrow brand motion activated sprinkler (assuming the garden is within a reasonable distance from a water spigot).
  12. Awwwww, c'mon...that's classic! :-)

  14. Yes, according to Hickok45 it is pronounced "sky".
  15. I think an EMP cannon may be one of the answers, but I'm not sure what the range is now. Several years ago the range was a couple hundred yards.
  16. The airport locations are almost always higher because of taxes and fees. Generally the rental rates are the same.
  17. Whew! I thought that seemed like an awfully long time. I hope you have a speedy recovery.
  18. Perhaps this is what you recall. There was a significant lawsuit in the news recently regarding this. http://archive.commercialappeal.com/news/suburbs/desoto/gaming-officer-killed-in-tunica-during-training-exercise-ep-890340353-324481221.html
  19. Yeah, don't try it in Memphis. It's not the police you'll be worrying about (except how long it will take them to find your car). http://www.fox13memphis.com/top-stories/several-unattended-cars-stolen-in-same-neighborhood/483285990
  20. Snopes is questioning the authenticity of this story. It seems unusual for a story that has been picked up by the media. http://www.snopes.com/5-year-old-boy-dies-in-santas-arms/
  21. I either forgot or never knew they had their own stores. I have mixed feelings about it. I appreciate that they did not decide to "post" their stores, but I'd rather they didn't feel the need to write the letter. Oh, well...I don't wear their overpriced jeans, anyway.
  22. I was pleased enough to see some 100pks of Winchester Super X 22lr that I almost completely missed the 1000pk of M22 and multiple 555pks of Winchester 22lr. About $7, $51, and $28 respectively.... This was at the local Walmart. BTW, the box of M22 is gone.
  23. You bet! And, like the others have said I hope you stick around on TGO.
