  1. When I began bass fishing seriously and competing all we had was topo maps of the lakes. Then came the Lowrance and Hummingbirds soon followed by Garmin. I fished tournaments from 1980 till 2010 with a lot of success winning quit a few tournaments at the Semi-Pro level. I still have a Skeeter Bass Boat but son in law uses it more than I do these days. The units I have on it are an Eagle 320 in dash and on the front and a Garmin GPS beside console. Son In Law asked me the other day if I would mind him upgrading the electronics on it. He is talking about spending over $4,000.00 on the things. He told me he would like to have some side views and all that high end stuff. I ask him if he was having issues catching fish and competing and he said not at all. He has won about 7 or 8 weekend club tournaments already this Spring. He said he would like to see the fish that are around the boat. I said seeing them and catching them are 2 different things but he was not happy so I told him to do what he wanted up front and in dash but the Garmin GPS stays for when I use the Skeeter. I won't even turn those fancy things on but I do have waypoints on that Garmin for both the local lakes I fish and I will use those to fish by. I guess I just live with the thought of "if it ain't broke don't fix it."
  2. My Flag is proudly flying this day. It flys everyday but on this day it is always a new one. I will honor the Fallen, Veterans and Active until the day I die.
  3. I understand that Oh Shoot. But what happens is the dominate males will prevent the smaller males from getting on the beds. If you remove a bunch of dominate males from the bedding area that opens the door for the younger males to service the beds thus keeping the Shell cracker populations thriving. That is why I don't keep any of the yonger males or females. I learned this from a TWRA fish biologist back about 15 years ago. The females that have their dominate male taken will go and get a younger male to do her deeds with the dominate ones gone.
  4. I just spoke with a buddy yesterday and he said he found 2 beds on Wednesday in about 3 feet of water on Old Hickory and he brought 30 males back home. He does same thing I do. He only will keep the larger males that are almost Black and releases the females and smaller males so the spawn will continue and the Shell Crackers will always be in our lakes. And yea, I like eating them better than Crappie and they are much more fun on light tackle than crappie are to catch!!!!....................
  5. A few of my buddies have been looking for Shell Cracker beds on Old Hickory and are catching a dew here and there but not finding any beds yet. I willi go when they finally go on beds. I have three places on OHL that they will bed in one of them every year and one good is all a person needs to put a bunch in the freezer. I went last year and found to large beds and put over a 200 filets in the freezer in 3 days. Good luck to yall...........
  6. Obama made the gun even more popular when he made the statement, " If I had a son he would have looked lile Trevon" Obama had no business even getting involved in the case................jmho
  7. I'm so broke If it cost a penny to.. :poop:  I would have to throw up!!!!!
  8. I guess in that case it was Granny, get your gun instead of Annie get your gun huh?  I give Granny ......................

  10. Well, being an old retired Certified Mechanic I don't recall not opening the hood first thing on any car or truck I was going to work on unless I was plugging a flat tire on the car. Even on an oil change first thing done was rasie the hood period. As for these new fancy Technigological pieces of junk being built today they call cars are killing and maming people just driving down the road with air bags exploding, ignition switches just shutting off and computera taking over the car and not allowing drivers to slow down as the car continues to gain speed and brakes failing to help.  My son was working on one of the pieces of junk a few years back because he is also a certified mechanic when the computer took over and car began to pick up speed. All he did was put the car in neutral and pull hard on emergency brake to stop the vehicle as the motor reveved up till it blew up because the rev limiter in the computer failed because the computer had failed. The average drivers don't know to take it out of gear and pull the cable driven emergency brake. Toyota had to pick up the car from his shop and take it to a dealer that had to fixed the entire car including a new engine.  Shortly there after that model and several others went on manditory re call.    I will continue to own old cars until I am having dirt shoveled in my face with a marble stone for a pillow. I drive a 1997 Jeep Cherokee and that will be the newest vehicle I will ever own.....................jmho
  11. He helped me out with some 22 ammo back when it was not on shelves anywhere and had great prices.......................
  12. Evidently all those so called celebrities think anyone would miss them if they did leave!!!!  I damn sure would not for one. They must really think all the people like them ot something. There are real celebrities and then there a re Tinsel Town CLOWNS and these that are talking about leaving are all in the CLOWN catagory...................jmho
  13. I have learned long ago that a person that is running for a position will say what ever he believes the people want to hear at any given time. Trump is not stupid and he knows how many gun owners there are in America and how many votes he can gain by saying what he knows we want to hear. The proof is in the puddling. If he is elected his actions will be far more important than his words prior to his election........................jmho
  14. Abbott and Costello in their skit "Who's on First"? is what it reminds me of.  As far as Obama not being able to figure out a way to defeat ths enemy. It is not his job to defeat them. It is his job to put the right people in charge of beating them but he is not even smart enough to do that. I bet when they moved into teh White House they ahd to put maps on all the walls so he and Mchelle could find their way around in the place...............jmho
  15. If you can't say anythng nice about Dolomite Supafly you better just not say anything at all. He is one of the most respected and helpful members on this site so I would suggest you take your attitude and go someplace else...........  .............MY NOT SO HUMBLE OPINION!!!!
  16. I find it strange that anyone that might go against something Clintons want or do people die. Witness in White Water case all at once comits suicide in a park 2 days before he is scheduled to testify about White Water. Then while Secretary Of State the people in Bengahzi keep requesting more security and the requests by Steves get ignored and it comes out that Hillary and Stevens hada few views they didn't agree on and Now Justice Scalia stood in the way of many things they wanted to get pushed through the Supreme Court and the only one actually standing in their way was Scalia and dies suddenly and no autopsy is performed to find out cause of death. Just to many unexplained issues to trust the Clintons at any level.......jmho
  17. I found the pictures of the Boat and spoke with Son In law and he said he tested how long it would take for all the lights to drain the one 12 volt battery. He said he left them on for almost 7 days, day and night and on the 7th night they were still very bright but you could see a difference. Now that is also taking into effect the 12 volt battery was fully charged but is also taking into the fact the Battery is also 3 years old too. 18. I had my son in law puy led lighting on my Skeeter Bass boat last Winter and I was shocked to see how much light those LED light strips can produce. If I can find pictures of the boat lit up I will post them. These are 12 volt lights and we decided to test them for draw on the 12 volt boat battery to see how long they would last at night. They were just as bright on night 5 as they were on night 1 and they were running all day also. Now if I can find the pictures they do have different colored lights but the only ones we had lit for the test was the white lights.
  19. The press is getting tired of covering the elections and just looking for something else they think is news. Things like this have been going on for years and was never mentioned till now.  It is just something the News people thought would ruffle the feathers of the American people but it did'nt work........jmho
  20. I have been buying my tires at Discount Tire for many years and I can take my Jeep in about every 5000 miles and get free tire rotation and balance for life of the tires. I can also go there about any time and they will check my tire pressure and correct it to proper inflation. They keep mine at 35 PSI. I had my first flat tire in many years the other day. It was a slow leak so I inflated it and took it to them. They said it was time for rotate and balance and they fixed the flat for free. Great people to do business with...........jmho
  21. I hope not. Sounds like the kid threw a bunch of hot lead at the guy so the kid was not being shy about protecting his home.
  22. Mine expires in June 2018. I will just do a normal renewal since by then I will be 70 years young. Would not benefit me to go lifetime..........jmho
  23. Great catch for sure. I do know they are somewhat rare and not found in very many places. They are kin to the Red Ear Sunfish better known as Shell Crackers. The Bull males in the Shell Crackers also turn very black during the spawn and guarding the beds. I love to catch Shell Crackers during the spawn but I don't keep any females or any smaller males. I will keep one if it is close to 1.5 to 2 pounds and will filet easy. I think they taste better than Crappie..........jmho on the taste. If my Son in law gets day off soon we will go looking for a big Shell Cracker bed and get some good eating.........
  24. Mother said the same guy had burglarized their home in the past???? If that was true was he arrested the first time? I bet he won't be going back to that house a 3rd time. I hope the boy does not get in any trouble for shootin at the bad guy when he was running away and threat was over. If I was a judge I would give the boy a medal for taking the stand................jmho
  25. The ignition switch would not have caused the speedo to drop and motor to revve up. The ignition switch would have killed the engine. Let me ask you a question. Has the Check Engine light came on or flickerd and then gone back off at all. If you problem is anything related to a sensor of any type that is controlled to the electronic system of the truck that Check engine light should eiter come on and stay on or come on and stay a few seconds and then may go back off. Even if only on a few seconds it will put a code in the computer that caused the light to come on. Oreilly's will scan the computer for you for free. Find out what codes the computer throws out and it may help you narrow down your problem...............jmho   My offer is still open if you want me to ask my son what he thinks.
