With the way gun rights are on the up in the last few years, and still rising in nationwide sentiment, I would think someone who runs as a Republican would want to be on the winning side. I'm sure he noticed how enthused a primary challenge Lamar got from Joe Carr. Covering the right flank is required for Tennessee Republicans now. With the healthcare thing, he wanted federal money infused into the state. But politicians don't run on failures, so unless he can swing it his way, he'll ignore that loss on his record. As for his not taking a salary, like John F. Kennedy, I think it was meant to preempt any talk about how rich he is by avoiding money talk altogether. Nothing in Haslam's actions as governor make me think he is running for a federal office.

I dunno. I get the feeling that Gov. Haslam is ready to go back to the private sector after his 2nd term. His actions on the Medicare expansion, and his recent open opposition to gun bills are leading me to that conclusion. Check out the chutzpa he's showing in this story. Nobody Republican who has a Senate run in mind would stick himself out like that.

Lamar just got re-elected, so his term runs until 2020. It's Corker who's seat will be up in the 2018 election. Unless a Republican wins in 2016 and gives Corker a cabinet appointment (SecState seems most appropriate with his chairing the Foreign Relations committee) he will probably run again.

Sean Penn may be full of it, but with his track record with women (Madonna & Robin Wright in their prime, Charlize Theron & ScarJo in modern times) is legit.

...and the bidding will start at $1. :D

Firearms issue bills for this session.

This mean tomorrow would be a wash? -
As many of us talk about, if we own guns or not is nobody's business, and I would imagine that there were a at least a few gun owners who refused to participate, thus skewing the sample.

Same here. I can separate a persons views from the entertainment they provide. Liam Neeson has made some decent films, Schindler's List being tops among them. I'm not automatically going to deny myself a good movie or TV show, because someone has an opinion I disagree with.

It's also worth considering that people in general have a hard enough time saying they made a mistake. Now imagine the ego, ignorance, and legal reasons in such a trait getting applied to a federal agency. For them to admit a mistake isn't anything they are interested in doing anytime soon. They will just pretend it never happened, until they want to do it again.

A tall tale about an international firearms license.
btq96r replied to suspiciousmind's topic in General Chat
I wouldn't trust this guy if he said rain was wet based on tales like that. Tell him you'd love to see the permit, or even check out the stamps in his passport. I'd bet my remaining stock of green tip M855 that you don't get to see either. -
I've never impressed by the selection or prices of long guns at Walmart to begin with. If this is going to be implemented nationwide, no big loss.

I wonder who will brag more about this...you to us, or your son to his friends. :D Now you can get him to do more chores for ammo!

It took a lot not to whip someone's ass today

For all we know, this guy was looking to get a fat lip as a way to litigate your paying for his next six months activities. -
Ehh, he could have waited until you left, or just asked you. With ammo prices what they are these days, some people take their brass seriously. Also, I'm instantly suspicious of people who volunteer that their veteran status in a confrontation. Why not use just say friends, or buddies?

Issues like this are why I try to do all my shooting in the middle of the week, when I have a good chance of being out there all on my lonesome. If the range gets too crowded, or one of the aforementioned know it all's shows up. I pack my gear and leave. The dream would be to have enough land to run my own range like gregintn.

This is why soft holsters are bad
btq96r replied to Dustbuster's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Soft holsters are fine unless you are moving around so much you need extra retention. I agree with others in the thread who say the error is on the owner of the holster & gun...if the picture is real to begin with. -
For some reason, Hi-Point's remind me of the water pistols I had as a kid. But, if they put rounds on target, have at it.

Good on you, mav, and all the rest of you guys who quit. Wish I could get my father and stepmother to give up smoking. The last time I visited them, their place smelled like smoke, and I could hear them coughing at random times throughout the day.

This is a great place to chat about all those things you listed in your intro post. I think you'll find the wealth of information here is top notch. Welcome to TGO.

Let me guess... you ordered one and got double of what you ordered. And the price you are selling it for is what it came out to with your shipping cost.

Firearms issue bills for this session.

Here is the list of bills for the subcommittee on 11 March. Even if they go right into straight up or down votes, it's a lot of work to start up as late as 3pm. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/Calendar/CalendarOrders.aspx?CalendarID=197 -

Welcome home. There are ways to keep informed about foreign investments in America without going to websites that make you feel like you need a shower afterward. http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702303491404579388194110357658 http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2013/02/03/china-co-buys-texas-oil-gas-field/ Also, are the Chinese invading before or after Muslim immigrants usurp the courts and set up Sharia law? -
My buddy had one (not in full auto), but it mostly sat in the safe for the reasons you mention. When we did bring it out to the range, it was the envy of all around us. It was fun to shoot for a few rounds, but yeah, it's more cool than practical, and the cool wears off faster than you might think. That being said, if it's something anybody really wants in their collection, and they have the disposable income....why not. It does have a place in the history of American firearms.
