  1. Not just my first, but my only AR. S&W M&P-15 with only minor mods. I did recently install a LaRue trigger, but didn't get to the range before they closed it down. Honestly, I'm not a fan. I only bought this one because at the time the "BAN 'EM" crowd was all worked up again. I got one just to piss 'em off.
  2. Yep, I lost a filling a week or so back and it was becoming a problem. Got right in to my dentist and the only ones there were me, him and the receptionist.
  3. Oh, I completely agree on that. This virus will go down in history not because of the death toll, but for the economic toll its taken on our entire world. But at this point there's little we can do about it.
  4. Exactly. Something is indeed better than nothing. And it does make people feel a little better. But I do think that the real purpose is to keep the virus in rather than out.
  5. Ok, so now they're saying that the general public should wear even a make shift mask? A virus is one of the smallest living things on this planet. Ordinary masks can't completely stop it. They may catch some of the virus, but some will get through anyway simply because the filtering material isn't fine enough to completely catch something this small. That's why medical professionals have to have N-95 or better masks. I believe that the purpose of recommending home made masks isn't to prevent you from getting the virus, its to prevent asymptomatic people from spreading it.
  6. The problem here is that very few businesses are a one man operation. You can't reopen or get back to work unless you have enough survivors to keep the place running. I'm afraid we're no where near that point yet.
  7. Yeah, Covid on a ship. That worked out real well for the cruise lines didn't it?
  8. It was my understanding that the hospital ships were to be for non-covid patients transferred from other hospitals. Thus freeing up space in the city hospitals to handle more virus patients which they are already set up for. Has that changed?
  9. I've mentioned my disabled friend before. She's a retired ER Nurse. Despite the fact that she can barely take care of herself, she's getting calls almost daily from people who want to put her to work. They're offering $5000 or more per week. As much as she wants to go back to work, sadly she's just not physically up to it.
  10. I'm not talking about people who have to work. I understand about that. But this was around 2:00pm and most of the traffic was ordinary cars, not work or delivery vehicles. I swear it looked like a regular day before the virus. Maybe a bit busier. I also get that sometimes you need to go to the store. But that still doesn't account for that many people out there. With so many places closed, where can all these people be going?
  11. Let me start by saying that for the last three weeks I've been mostly staying at home. Yes, I do go out for my daily exercise walk, which is allowed. There have also been a couple of trips to the store. I'm also practicing social distancing. But for the most part I've been doing just what I've been told and kept my butt at home. Today something unexpected came up and I had to drive pretty much all the way across north Memphis. The traffic was about normal from pre-virus days. Maybe a little heavier. People out walking around in groups like everything was just fine. Lots and lots of people are out. I saw on the news tonight that Gov. Lee has stressed staying home. He said its a requirement. I fully understand why. It seems that most of the population can't understand simple english or just aren't taking this seriously. No wonder Shelby county has the fastest growing infection rate in the state. The real pandemic here is stupidity.
  12. I learned my lessons back in 2003 when "Hurricane Elvis" hit. I'm good for a couple of months at least. Also building my cash reserves as well. When those stimulus checks start coming in, there's likely to be a run on the banks to cash them. I've heard that the fastest growing group of victims is the 21-40 age segment. There was a group of 70 that went to Spring break together and 27 of them have tested positive.
  13. I've got an old RCBS Rockchucker that I bought used over 30 years ago. Its still going strong.
  14. I agree with Slappy. I think its best to hang on to that money. No telling what will happen in the next few months. When this thing is over, spend it any way you like. But for now, better safe than sorry.
  15. Actually, I believe that was used against the aliens ships in "Earth VS Flying Saucers"
  16. Wow! I take a few days away from this doom & gloom thread and y'all have added over 5 pages to it! Think y'all have beaten this horse enough? OK, this is just my opinion. Take it for what its worth. Look, aside from the numbers and actual hard facts, everything else is nothing more than theory, supposition, conjecture and plain old guessing. Sure, they had contingency plans in place just in case something like this was to happen. But it was all based on those faulty computer models already mentioned. They were also based on budget needs at the time they were written, So following up got pushed to the side. In short, we got caught with our pants down. As they say, no battle plan survives first contact with the enemy. Well, we're well past first contact and now the battle has turned into a grade A cluster ****. This is new ground. None of us were even born yet the last time this happened (1918). Its a learn as you go situation. The lessons here are really hard. We have a bunch of politicians in charge. We've all known for many years that ALL politicians are thieves, liars, lazy and generally don't have a clue. Besides, they don't play well with others. Especially the other side of the aisle. Now, all of a sudden, you expect them to actually do their jobs? Hell, most of them are still looking out for themselves. CYA is the order of the day. Sure, lots of big talk in front of the cameras. That's what they do best. But privately, I'm betting many of them are pooping their pants. I've said before, mistakes have been made. And they will continue to be made on a daily basis. But at least they're trying. So far, I think the powers that be are doing a fairly decent job considering what they're up against. Trump is far from the best president we ever had. But I believe that he and his administration actually do care about the American people and are doing the best they can. As for me, there isn't much I can do about the situation. So instead of moanin' and groanin', I'm just gonna take precautions, hunker down at home and ride it out as best I can. How do you eat a sh!t sandwich? One bite at a time.
  17. Check Brownell's. They carry a large assortment of S&W parts.
  18. Its because Memphis and Shelby County have gone on a stay at home order as of today at 6:00pm. Thursday was supposed to be beautiful and I was planning on going then. Dammit!
  19. I believe this virus is just getting started and the number of cases is going to sky rocket in the next few weeks. There's no point in planning weeks in advance when conditions are changing on an hourly basis. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Damn, I glad I'm retired.
