Not an employee but I've purchased two so far, one a Sequoia, had to be shipped in from out of the area. Joe Heitz (now Wyatt Johnson) had it brought in because I wanted one without the leather and other bells and whistles. The second, my Tacoma was on the lot so no issue, but if you speak to their sales manager I am sure they will get on the computer and get you what you want.

In that case I'd carry a baseball bat bag or gear bag, us fat guys will fit right in.

This thread had a lot of good recommendations.

I seem to remember them offering the NRA backpack as a gift for going lifetime or benefactor awhile back. I almost went with it but I stayed with the lifetime. I do notice they are at the NRA store but more expensive than the Midway one. I wonder if they are both made at the same place?? I ATM don't need to transport my weapons collectively to a range, I just put them in my truck in their own case and park right at the firing line. But on the occasions when I have gone to public ranges, I take my Pelican wheeled case with all my range equipment in it, it works well for me.

Hard Cast ammo and polygonal barrel
Omega replied to Wingshooter's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Before I knew a thing about casting, alloys, polygonal barrels etc. I fired over 1500 rounds of cast bullets from my Glock 23 with no issues that I noticed. These were purchased .401 bullets and I never measured to check if that is what they actually measured so either I got real lucky or there just isn't much to it. The only difference I did notice is that they bulged the case mouth more than my fmj or hollow points, but they passed the plunk test so I went with it. -
Charged with hunting over bait, outcome was loss of my .270 and 1 year of hunting. You would have to see all the photos and hear the entire story to get a feel either way. I realize that it was not vehicle related, it was about perception and the fact that though your activity may be legal, once charged good luck getting a good outcome.

Can only quote my interaction as the rest would be hearsay, but apparently sitting outside a hunting blind trying to check zero is considered hunting even though all hunting gear in the truck including two boxes of shells camo etc, I only had two bullets for the intended purpose. Not to mention he lied about seeing me from the road, a giraffe couldn't see me let alone a human. Oh, and though charged with no blaze orange, he tried to use it as leverage to get me to accept a plea, land owners don't need to so offering to drop the charge was meaningless.
-
Yea, tell Jereme Odom that, I bet he would say different and the way the courts are if charged you will be convicted.

You know, I've seen this and wondered if it applied to long guns, also how does that jive with hunting regulations/laws. Since one season or another is always open and wildlife guys have full LEO powers I can see some crossover happening. Or have the regulations changed accordingly?

Kinda stupid we can't renew HCP via Internet
Omega replied to JAB's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
No, can't be that; even the anal IRS let's you submit without physical signature and try and use the non signature as a defense. They just haven't come around to doing it, probably never crossed their minds yet. -
Bad day for the military, seems we lost at least 5, 4 others missing at Ft Hood, Rest in Peace Brothers. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/3-Soldiers-Dead-6-Missing-After-Vehicle-Swept-Away-at-Fort-Hood-381710101.html

I too would like to see them taken off the NFA list so prices could get driven down my the market. And I agree that many will not attempt it, but there is really nothing to making your own, in both cost and effectiveness. But many, me included would rather just buy one in the long run they are much better. Eventually manufacturers would make up for any losses, and in fact sell more since then many would get one for each weapon instead of sharing between them and no prolonged wait to get them. so more impulse purchases.
-
Yea, but many would have to ride it out and are unwilling to take that chance. It would not be an overnight kind of thing either since many who are already into silencers would try and make their own vs buying, and the retailers would be worse off, they would have to wait until the manufacturers dropped their prices and may get stuck with expensive inventory. That being said, everyone would benefit in the long run.

Had no issues myself when I shipped my Rem 700 back for the trigger recall through UPS, just had to take it to the hub not one of the stores. I also shipped a shotgun through Fedex, but went to Nashville's hub for that one. I think the hub is the way most will accept gun related items, even ammo. I shipped some back from Denver, I had to show them their own web page to get them to ship as packaged (labeled ORM D) but it shipped. The problem comes in when trying to ship from individual to individual (in state) or to yourself out of state, though you can legally do it, some won't take it.

NPR attacks Katie Couric's Anti-gun Documentary
Omega replied to Moped's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
These are the kinds of journalism stories that need to be prosecuted, they should not be protected by any freedom of the press. And not because it was a LEO involved, but because they make up facts that they know are lies. When a reporter puts lies into their story, it has the power to incite a social response such as what happened in Ferguson (yes I know it wasn't a news story there). It can also have an impact an whether someone gets prosecuted or not depending on how they slant a SD story. While we were in Iraq, there were many reporters imbedded with some of the units there, most reporters followed the guidelines while others not only reported slanted stories but put the troops in danger. A few of the stories named the units involved and broke down the association of some classified units. There was a constant change to Task Force names just to try and keep it under wraps. But while highly frowned upon, it was a Freedom of the press issue so not many formal complaints were filed, though some reporters would lose access now and then. -
I am not a fan though my wife loves hers, I just can't see paying to listen to the radio. I have so much recorded music that I can plug my phone into my truck and listen to hours of music without having to pay to do so. I actually like listening to the free radio stations with all the talk and commentary on my way to work, I get the weather, some local news and traffic reports in my 15 - 20 minutes each way.

NPR attacks Katie Couric's Anti-gun Documentary
Omega replied to Moped's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Freedom of the press should not be a pass to lie to the public. Outright lies or misleading journalism should be challenged both legally and in the court of public opinion such as is being done here. I can understand left or right leaning stories (reporters are somewhat human), but to be actively deceiving the public with omissions and lies should not be tolerated. To me Freedom of the press should be to let them report the truth, no matter who it's against. -
Don't ask me, I've replaced my suunto cover 3 times already. I even bought a suunto kit with a tool, but they changed battery size on my other suunto and there goes another cover. The hint I can give is to use something that fills the entire slot, like gunsmith driver bits do on gun screws.

S&W M&P in back pocket: Interesting sight
Omega replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Comms, is that you? I too seen a character with a gun stuffed in his back pocket at Walmart, only the corner was sticking out but I couldn't id it. Must be a trend, unless it was the same guy. -
Do they tell you what kind of trees? I found out that black walnut will kill other trees and plants. I had to cut one down, and the roots still killed an apple tree I planted a couple feet away from the stump.

Ok, this was what I was going to reply to (without quote, so not directed specifically to it); the hard return (Enter) gives you a new paragraph, a feature I kinda like and wish other forums did this, a long post without paragraphs is difficult to read and some people really like to type. Now, you basically type until you want a new paragraph, the post will wrap around until the end.

Ok, this is weird. So I went to enter a reply and as soon as I clicked in the reply box, it populated the box with a post (below) that I thought I had already posted. It did this once before but I deleted it and entered the reply I wanted. Does this software autosave? If so, where is it stored, and when is it supposed to flush it?

No issue here, I did not retain the fact that we had had this discussion in the past, otherwise I may not of even posted a response. I am definitely not what we can call a Subject Matter Expert (SME), and have no working knowledge of what a sleazy prosecutor (there are some) would use to make his case. Looking more into it, you may be right as so far as them trying (and succeeding) to use mundane information about you, your life experience and training against you. This link is a good article about such cases, but my take away from this article is that the defendants had bad lawyers: Article - Training Against you in an SD case But even so, the conduct of your instructor should play no part in a case against you. As for soldiers, not arguing about the combat part, not entire true but not part of the argument. I was speaking of our military training when it come to a case of self defense; if a prosecutor can bring up my training I am in a world of hurt. Most of my training (non MOS related) involves the quick and effective way to dispatch other combatants, with firearms, knives and hand-to-hand . But I was also trained in non-lethal technics in case I am a POW or prisoner of a hostile government, for which you can be tried for murder if you dispatch a guard. I guess my point is that instead of worrying what a prosecutor would do, you need to focus on making sure it's a good shoot first, then worry about what they can use against you. I can hear the prosecutor now, "so, why did you choose to put two rounds in the victims chest and one in his head instead of disarming him?" It's a shame when some of these cases get to this point, but most of the ones mentioned in the article, and others like it, have extenuating circumstances surrounding the shooting in the first place.

I guess I'll just stop posting, or add a disclaimer:

Never met the guy, probably never will; but I doubt anyone trained by him or his facility has anything to worry about in or out of court. If your training could be held against you, I and many of my fellow Veterans would be in trouble. My very first combat training always started with a shout of "Kill, Kill, Kill Without Mercy!", and got more aggressive after that.
