Is reloading 9mm cost effective?
frankmako replied to ehull20000's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
back in the 70's and 80's reloading saved you money if you shot a lot of matches. back in those day it was a pistol/rifle match every weekend for me and the wife. so reloading and casting was a must. then later on cheap bulk ammo came to life. so i look at reloading/casting now as a time to relax. a way to get some of "me" time. yes i can save money doing it, but i have had everything i need to reload for many mango seasons. there is the time factor that you will have to look at. you will need to see how many rounds you will be firing each year to see if bulk buying is better over reloading. yes i buy bulk sometime when i see a good deal. hard to pass up on a good ammo bulk buy. -
Back in the early 70s I went to my local post office to sign up for the draft. Got my draft card and watch the even news to see what draft numbers came up. Still got my draft card and I volunteered for the army. They stopped the draft and stopped the draft card requirements. But in the 90's I think they started the draft card again. Not real sure of the start date just know there was a time when young men did not have to register.

the local pet marts is where i get my brass cleaning needs. have been for many mango seasons. i stopped buying the high dollar stuff in the 90's. yes it is dusty, but a dryer sheet helps.

good luck on this. i would look on line for a good used phone. i am out of contract with verizon and will stay out as long as i can get good used phones when i need one. i did this once before for years until i needed a smart phone. so i get a smart phone and went back under the two year contract. now it is over and i will stay out as long as i can. verizon is the only one to use in my area. but as long as you stay close to the city. when i am in north georgia and alabama it not so good, but the others phone carriers are worst.

i use titegroup when i can not get my other go to powders. i also like the plated bullets when i do not want to cast up a batch. when i work up a new load i start at the low end and use my chronograph to get where i want to be. but you are starting out and might not have a chronograph, so i would stay on the low to mid range of the load data. i have been treating plated bullets the same a jacket when it come to load data. so far i have not had any problems. but i do not load anything hot or to the max of the data sheets. i load my pistol rounds for fun shooting day, not a day of getting beat up by my guns.

22 lr ammo is still hard to find at a fare price. still hard to beat them at the big box stores when it comes in. it has gotten to a point where I don't look any more.
-
that is some color. but i would carry it for that price.
-
i all ways wonder how they stay in business. before 2008 they had somewhat good prices. then they went nuts. when the 22 lr ammo madness hit they had the 550 round box for $99.99. their 5.56 ammo went high too. their reloading supplies went out of sight. so did the guns prices. i use to stop by once or twice a month to kill some time. but now i don't even slow down. you can only see the over price stuff so many times before it gets old. last time i was in i was the only customer in the store. took for ever to get someone to show me a pistol. several workers standing around not working and not carrying.

Benton shooting is the worst place to buy anything. Their prices are higher over any other place. Good place to look at guns. Not a place to buy. It is in the middle of no where. But they got to pay for their big nice building and paved parking lot.

i all ways gotten good and fast service from them. did you get a order confirmation email from them? did you print off your order receipt? you can email it to them and they will find your order. was your card charges?

Anyone tried Freedom Munitions 308 168gr HPBT?
frankmako replied to MPGlock's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
i have used their 308 147gr fmj reman in my lar8. works well and has never given me any problems. -
been riding for many mango seasons. went down in 72. I am against the helmet laws, but I wear one and will no matter the law. I don not like someone telling me what I can wear and not wear. I feel the same way about seat belts. I wear one just don't like the government telling to do so.

time for jb weld. works just as good a duck tape.

I got both and they are easy to shoot and carry. But I carry the G23. It comes down to the ammo. What do you have gun wise now, 45 acp or 9 mm. I would go with what you have to keep the ammo simple.
-
if i want to carry a single stack glock then i will carry my g36. the g43 is not much smaller. the g43 is about the same size as the g26. so here goes glock again, late to the party. when glock makes a single stack 9 mm the size of the kahr pm9 and/or the kel tec pf9 then i will pull my money out and buy one. until then if i want to carry a single stack glock the g36 will fit the bill.

yes this is true but the red store does not sale ammo and guns. i went to the blue store yesterday and got a 20 round box of brass 308 ammo for 9.98. don't see that anywhere else. yes the people in the blue store might not be high class, but they will sat "hi" to you when you walk by.

there are better deals at other places. gun shows today are not as good as it/they use to be. i gotten to the point i don't even go anymore. pay for parking, pay to get in, everything priced high. why go. many mango seasons ago like in the 80's they were much better.

i am in.
-
nice rifle. they make a great gun.
-
i got a bunch of guns that served no purpose, but are fun to shoot. just like the bunch of glocks i got that all are the same model and cal.

look for a radiator shop to check if they can rebuild it. i had two tractor radiators done last year and saved a boat load of money. a new tractor radiator is big dollar. we got a old school radiator shop here in chattanooga that has been around since the 50's. they know what they are doing.

plus one and I keep the tv on to watch sports and the radio on to hear glenn.

looks like i need to check the ones on the east side of town. also time for some popcorn.
