Mark, At the muzzle the Stinger (191 ft/pounds) beats the Velocitor (183 ft/pounds) in energy, but loses power quickly. At slightly before 25 yards the Velocitor overtakes the Stinger in energy. But the 30 grain Aguila Supermaximum at 1700 FPS beats the Stinger at the muzzle with 193 ft/pounds and at range the 40 grain Aguila Interceptor outperforms the Velocitor. I considered buying a RMR cut slide (or having the slide milled) for my Glock 26. For only a little bit more I bought a Masada that was already optics-ready to experiment with dot sights.

I have several 22LR pistols. My favorite to shoot is the Taurus TX22 which even beats my tricked-out S&W Victory. I used the TX22 to teach my daughter-in-law how to shoot for the first time and ended up buying her one for her birthday. Filling it up Aguila (hollow-point) Interceptors makes for a decent self defense gun for those that are recoil sensitive.

Palmetto State Armory had blems at one time, but are currently out of stock: https://palmettostatearmory.com/iwi-pistol-masada-blem-9mm-17rd-4-1in-factory-blem-excellent-condition-m9orp17-b.html If you include the price of buying a second mag, KyGunCo has them new and in-stock for only $10 more (if you use Cash / Text-A-Check) than the price I paid: https://www.kygunco.com/Product/View?ItemNo=127972 Most places were sold out of the Masada at the time I purchased.

I hope you enjoy the Masada. I certainly like mine! Look forward to your thoughts on it.

I bought a (blem) Masada several months back. Despite the reviews online saying it shoots low with iron sights, I didn't have that issue with mine. It was dead-on from the factory. But the reason I bought the Masada was that it was optics-ready from the factory. Adding a Holosun HE507C green dot was dead simple. One of the standout features for me was the trigger is nearly as good as the Glock 26 trigger I put time, effort, and money into customizing. I've put a mixture of FMJ (Federal/CCI) and a couple of mags of each carry ammo (IMI, Speer Gold Dots, Hornady Critical Duty) with no issues. Total round count is around 500. Note I did clean and lube before firing the first shot. My big gripe is that IWI has been out of stock on the 17-round mags for the last few months. Since mine was a blem, it only came with one mag. I ordered 2 spare (17-round) mags and wish that I had bought at least 2 more before they were sold out. Speaking of the blem, I couldn't find a but one tiny discoloration on the right side of the frame. if I hadn't been looking for it, I wouldn't have ever noticed. After getting a leather avenger style holster from Desert Gun Leather, the Masada has become my daily carry. It's much larger than my normal carry of a Glock 26 in a OWB pancake holster. And the design of the Avenger holster makes it stick out even further. So it prints a lot more, but I don't care. I'd rather have something that I can shoot well and with the green dot, I'm a lot more accurate than simply point shooting. I have presbyopia (aka "old man's eyes") and need reading glasses to see iron sights. if you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

Mantis X : Worth the price of admission?
billmeek replied to stRay's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Yes, I would recommend it for new shooters and people getting back into shooting. Even people that have been shooting for a long time could benefit from it. Advanced shooters might find a problem they don't even know they have, My son said the Mantis-X is an advanced version of the thing they did in the military putting coins on the slide to practice being smooth on the trigger.- 7 replies

Mantis X : Worth the price of admission?
billmeek replied to stRay's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have an original Mantis-X that I've used primarily for dry-fire practice. It has helped making me aware of what I'm doing wrong. I was recently using it for more dry-fire practice since I'm shooting less at the range because of ammo costs, but ended up loaning it to my daughter-in-law who is a new shooter.- 7 replies

SplashTop or other remote access software?? [locked out by TeamViewer]
billmeek replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
Install the Streamer on any PC you want to control. Install Splashtop Business only on any device you want to use to control other computers. You can install both Streamer and Business on a PC (i.e your home computer) if you want. The Splashtop Business device can be a Windows PC or tablet, Mac, Android tablet, iPad, Android phone or iPhone. I have one customer that regularly connects to his office PC with his iPhone and does Quickbooks. I personally wouldn't do that as i find it frustrating from a phone to control a device (having to zoom in and out often) and carry a Windows laptop or tablet instead, but it works for him. Installing Splashtop is not difficult for the end user. You will need to create a deployment package first. Then you can then just send them a URL to download and run. When they open the link they'll have to check the box saying they trust the name listed there (likely your name) before the download button is available. Once downloaded, they run the installer, Click "yes" on the Windows UAC prompt, click "confirm" to allow access, then you can remote in to make any other changes to Spashtop settings. If you need to login when they are not at the PC, I highly recommend setting the PC power settings to never sleep. Just a FYI, I've gone all-in and have the Splashtop Remote Support Premium. It's cut down on the time I need to be remoted into PCs. -
SplashTop or other remote access software?? [locked out by TeamViewer]
billmeek replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
No. I bought a commercial license, upgrading every 2 years, and TeamViewer went to a subscription model that would cost a bunch more. The licensing model of Splashtop for the low number of machines I need to connect to is less expensive and I can allow customers to use it to connect to their own PCs. I had this setup well before the Wuhan Flu and customers were all ready when they needed to remote into their business machines. -
SplashTop or other remote access software?? [locked out by TeamViewer]
billmeek replied to DaveTN's topic in General Chat
I use Both Teamviwer and Splashtop. I bought a license for TeamViewer 11 and will continue using it as long as it works. I refused to pay the outrageous price of the annual subscription starting with version 13. I've already installed Splashtop on all PCs and there's only two things I really miss so far which is being able to open multiple machines in tabs (which should not effect you) and real time notifications when a PC comes online. You have to click the refresh button in Splashtop Business to see if a PC has becomes available. Splashtop otherwise functions fine. -
North American Arms has a great service department. I'd contact them and see if they wouldn't ship out a replacement mag catch rather than modifying the one on your new (to you) Guardian.

What " In the ear " noise reducing gizmos doya like..?
billmeek replied to leroy's topic in General Chat
I'm mulling over upgrading from Apple Airpods to the Airpod Pros to try the noise cancellation for shooting. -
I've been waiting for the Holosun HE508T-GR-V2 which is basically the 507C green version 2 with a titanium body rather than aluminum. I already have the 507C-GR-V1.

Most electric locks also have mechanical options too.

I don't have a RFID safe, but I do have a RFID deadbolt on my front door. It works very well and is used many times (25+) a day. With it and most RFID locks, you can purchase RFID chips and program the lock to accept them. I have armbands which I find hard to use on the dead bolt because of the location on the door. I prefer just the small plastic keyfob with the embedded RFID chip. Bluetooth is local only and shouldn't really be a security issue... IF the company has kept their Bluetooth stack up to date. Personally, I wouldn't worry to much about theives trying to hack my gun safe. Limiting physical access is more important. Someone breaking into the house is more likely to take the whole box and open it later at their leisure unless you have the safe secured by bolting it down or using a good quality cable.

Most of my birds are still here. I had about 20 fighting over 6 feeders this morning. Right now there's only a few out there. They are the ones that are guarding *their* feeders.

Currently, I have a few 22LR rifles. I’ve sort of become the 10/22 guy at the local NRL22 match. Non 10/22 List: SavageB22 FVSR with an Athlon Midas TAC 6-24×50 APRS3 FFP MIL scope mounted with Burris XTR Signature Rings on a EGW custom milled 30 MOA rail that allows it to shoot out to 500 yards. Because of the MSRP of the scope, it (currently) puts the rifle out of NRL22 base class. Savage Mark II FVSR with an Acme Machine 6-24x50mm First Focal Plane Tactical Rifle Scope TR-MIL Reticle and rings. Savage A22 FV FDX XP which I replaced the red dot with an Athlon Talos BTR 4-14×44 APLR2 FFP IR MIL scope. Marlin Model 60 stainless with a Nikon P-Rimfire 3-7 scope on see thru mounts. Marlin XT-22 (kid length) as a loaner. M&P 15/22 with a Red dot. Thompson Center Encore (single shot) that started life as a stainless pistol. Now setup with a Boyds Pro Hunter (Royal Jacaranda) stock, Match Grade Machine 16.5 stainless barrel, Bellm trigger kit (9 oz pull) and hammer extension, Mueller 8-32X44 Side Focus scope mounted with Talley lightweight alloy rings. 10/22 List: Ruger Competition with an Athlon Midas TAC 6-24×50 APRS3 FFP MIL scope mounted with Burris XTR Signature Rings Custom light weight build based on a Thompson Center T/CR22 (which this receiver has been the basis for several builds) currently sporting a Whistle Pig 16.5 inch barrel, Kidd 2-stage (3oz/3oz) trigger, Fab Defense UAS R10/22 stock, and VX-Freedom 1.5-4x20 AR scope mounted with an Aero Precision Ultralight 1" Standard Scope Mount. Kidd Chassis build: All Kidd (including Kidd Chassis, receiver, bolt, 2-stage trigger (8oz/8oz), 20 MOA rail, charging handle) other than MPA EVG Grip (modified to fit), MagPul ACS-L Buttstock, Feddersen 16.5 inch stainless barrel, and an Athlon Midas TAC 6-24×50 APRS3 FFP MIL scope mounted with Burris XTR Signature Rings Victor Titan build: Kidd receiver, bolt, 2-stage trigger (8oz/8oz), 20 MOA rail, charging handle on a Victor Co Titan stock, Titan Universal cheek rest, Kidd compatible anchor, 10" Henderson Precision D-Rail, Ckye-Pod Bipod, Proof Research 16.5 inch carbon fiber barrel, with an Midas TAC 5-25×56 APRS3 FFP MIL HD scope mounted with Burris XTR Signature 34mm Rings for the bigger tube and a Send iT digital level. Bergara BXR002 (new in box). I haven’t decided on the optic for it yet. It may end up with the Bushnell Match Pro 6-24x50 mounted with Burris XTR Signature Rings. I’ll likely swap out the trigger for a Kidd 2-stage trigger (8oz/8oz) as I have spares. As you may have noted, I’m a big fan of the Burris XTR Signature Rings as they let me “bottom out” the scope so I can shoot further (out to 500 yards). I also prefer the Kidd 2-stage triggers as I’ve never touched a better 10/22 trigger. While this one is not technically a rifle, I also have a custom build 10/22 Charger using a Brownells receiver, Ruger bolt, PMACA Lightweight Chassis, Whistle Pig 6 inch barrel, MDT Vertical Grip, SBA3 Pistol Brace, Streamlight TLR2HL 1000 Lumen light w/ red laser, Holosun 507C Green Dot, and rather than a Kidd 2-stage, it has a Ruger trigger with a Franklin Armory BFSIII 22-C1 Binary Trigger kit installed. With GSG 110-Round drum magazines it’s a blast to shoot. The only problem is that the heat has had an adverse effect on the aluminum Whistle Pig barrel. I’ll be temporarily replacing it (likely tomorrow) with a 10-inch factory charger barrel (which arrived yesterday) until I get a couple of new custom stainless bull barrels (already ordered) in hand. I have several 22LR pistols too. If I had to pick a 22LR pistol to suggest, it’d be the Taurus TX22. On my shopping list is another Bergara. I might get the BXR001 and pair it with the Bushnell Match Pro scope as a NRL22 base class rifle. But I really have hankering to buy the B-14 R. From what I’ve seen so far, they are a very accurate 22LR. Being a Remington 700 footprint, the B-14 R has a lot of accessories available too which is one of the reasons I like 10/22s over other 22 rifles.

Bushnell just gave me one of the Match Pro models at the NRL22 Nationals: https://www.bushnell.com/riflescopes/match-pro/match-pro-6-24x50-riflescope/P2178035.html I've been a big fan of the Athlon Midas TAC for open class. (I've bought 6 of them.) The Bushnell is very similar to the Midas TAC, including the Xmas tree recital with a target dot, at a much lower cost. If you are near Southern Mid TN, You're more then welcome to meet me at the local range (Eagle Eye Range in Mt Pleasant) and try it out.

On a still day, 500 yard shots are possible with a 22 rifle. I've done it myself with a Savage B22 FVSR and an optic setup for ELR (40 MOA EGW rail, Burris XTR mounts to bottom out the scope, and the rest of the 105 MOA required in holdover in an Athlon Helios scope). Even after figuring out exactly where I needed to hold, hitting the target wasn't a sure thing. But it's a thrill to hear the faint "dink" of steel about 4 seconds after you shoot.

Search for "CZ 12004" and you might find a better price. But you can buy direct from CZ: https://shop.cz-usa.com/mag-cz-452-453-455-513-512-22-lr-mach-2-10-rd-poly12004.html

The stages are usually 2 minutes each and you fire 10 rounds. While that sounds like a lot of time, you often have to change positions (i.e. moving between different sizes of buckets or different rungs of the ladder) while on the clock. A 5 round mag would be a big disadvantage. And if you are in a time crunch, a semi auto can be an advantage for it's speed. The trade-off is bolt guns are said to be a more consistent. I use a custom built 10/22, but a larger percentage of the local shooters use a bolt action rifle.
