  1. The direction I went is rather than buy (or mill) a slide, I bought a complete optics ready gun that I could sell if I didn't like the dot setup. The IWI Masada didn't cost a lot more than many slides. Example: https://kygunco.com/Product/View?ItemNo=127972 The Masada has become my daily carry, although I still prefer my Glock 26. I've contemplated going ahead and getting a slide for the 26, but that means replacing the custom leather pancake holster. Leupold has a new red dot sight announced (but not currently available) that will work with my existing holsters as it replaces the rear sight rather than requiring the slide be milled. I'll be ordering one to try as soon as they are in stock at the distributors: https://www.leupold.com/deltapoint-micro-glock
  2. Class size is (currently) limited to 6 students. It'd be fun if you were able to fill a class from just people on TGO.
  3. I wondered if there was a Makerspace in Nashville that might have some people willing to share their knowledge. While searching, I ran across this: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beginners-welding-tickets-130973397959?aff=ebdsoporgprofile It's a beginners class tomorrow (02/20/2021 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM CST). Cost is $70. While it may well be too basic of class for you, it might get you in contact with welders at the Make Nashville community. FYI: I've never been to a Makerspace and have only read about them.
  4. What you need is Hillman part number 6105: https://hillmangroup.com/us/en/Fastening-Solutions/Fasteners/Screws/Wood-Screws/Zinc-Oval-Head-Slotted-Wood-Screws/p/6105 None of the usual suspects carry the Fas-Pak (quantity 22) in stock, but might be able to special order it for you. I found one online source, but minimum shipping I believe is $8.95: https://www.jmac.com/The_Hillman_Group_6105_p/HILLMAN-6105.htm
  5. This? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-6-x-1-in-Phillips-Oval-Head-Zinc-Plated-Wood-Screw-6-Pack-808121/204587436
  6. Would this work? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-6-x-1-in-Silver-Zinc-Plated-Round-Interior-Exterior-Wood-Screws-14-Count/3035713
  7. The post by Hozzie is excellent information. Having built a couple of custom 10/22 (mostly Kidd classic builds), I can state that chasing accuracy on a 10/22 can be an expensive hobby. As jpx2rk stated, the Fedderson barrels can be excellent. My avatar is my first 5 rounds shot through a Fedderson stainless barrel at 25 yards (note - 20 rounds were fired through it by another shooter before me). While the Brimstone triggers are great for the money, I'm a huge fan of the Kidd 2-stage triggers. I don't think there's a better trigger on the market for the 10/22. I agree with Hozzie that the Bergara B14-R is a fantastic rifle. After putting in a TriggerTech Diamond (adjusted down to 4 ounces) and trying some different ammo to see what it likes, it's easily a "one-hole" rifle at 40 yards. I haven't really had the opportunity to stretch it out at the local range yet due to health issues.
  8. PagePlus is a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) that uses the Verizon network only. Any current model and unlocked CDMA phone should work. As stated above, you will have to go though activation on a new phone.
  9. These guys in Loretto (southern middle TN) do bluing. Not sure about parkerizing. http://ironhorsegunworks.com/gunsmithing.html
  10. On the 10/22s it really depends on how they are customized as to their value. A base synthetic stock rifle is inexpensive, where full custom rifle can be a couple of grand. Just the Kidd 2-stage triggers in my 10/22 rifles cost more than a basic 10/22. That's one of the great things about Ruger 10/22s. There is a plethora of options and accessories available.
  11. It's a long thread, but the brass 10/22 by Teddy Bear Rat is at: https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=483339 It's the best looking 10/22 I've ever seen. Looking forward to any info you share on the 3D printed receivers.
  12. I considered buying one, but for various reasons ended up just buying a complete receiver. Something that has peaked my interest a few days ago is a 3D printed 10/22 receiver that I saw in the video below. The printer shouldn't cost a lot more than one 80% receiver.
  13. LawVol, I saw the 22LR ammo selling out and last month bought a half a case of Eley Tenex for precision shooting. KSS (Killough Shooting Sports), which is owned by Eley is the US distributor, normally has tens of thousands of rounds so that you can do lot testing and buy cases of the lot that works best in your rifle. As of right now, they don't show any Tenex in stock at the TX warehouse.
  14. What you are seeing is foam to fit a .50 cal can, not .50 cal mags.
  15. Spoke to a "solar geek" friend of mine and about the Patriot Power Generator 1800 he said, "Ridiculously overpriced and misleadingly represented." This might be worth watching:
  16. I've went through dozens of holsters before finally deciding on just a plain pancake style leather holster for daily carry. I found a good custom holster maker (https://www.desertgunleather.com) and have been having him make all of my holsters since. I do usually have to wait 4-6 weeks for any new holster. The only non-pancake holster I've purchased in the last few years is I had Rick make an Avenger style holster for the IWI Masada setup for a Holosun dot sight. I prefer leather holsters for comfort. Wet-molded leather has enough retention for my use since I don't plan on running... not even to chase down an ice-cream truck. <grin>
  17. I did some research on shot timers awhile back and concluded that it's better to buy a dedicated device. I ended up paying for one of these on sale: https://smile.amazon.com/Competition-Electronics-Pocket-Timer-CEI-4700/dp/B008KMOSAI/
  18. Pulling your resources off of Amazon just prompted me to signup for a Lifetime Membership.
  19. Has anyone spotted 270 Winchester ammo at a store in Mid TN?
  20. But they aren't found on their website under trigger kits, via search, or on the SCCY parts page: https://gallowayprecision.com/sccy/cpx/
  21. I don't see a kit from Galloway listed. But there is a spring kit from Mcarbo that supposed to drop the pull from around 7 to about 4 (give or take one pound): https://www.mcarbo.com/sccy-cpx-2-trigger-spring-kit.aspx I doubt it does anything for the long trigger pull though.
  22. Sig Sauer P365 XL is 20.7 oz and the SCCY DVG-1 is 15.5 oz (according to handgunhero).
  23. If you think the Wolf Match Extra (made by Eley) is ridiculous at 17.5 cents per round, take a look at current 22LR prices on ammoseek: https://ammoseek.com/ammo/22lr
  24. There's a simple way to fix that... don't watch the news.
  25. My guess is that what you saw was a CPX-1RD or CPX-2RD (DAO) pistol. The DVG-1 and DVG-1RD (striker) seems to be made of unobtainium at this point.
