  1. As an afterthought, you might check out two places. Wind rock shooting range in Oliver Springs and Volunteer range in the halls area. Good luck.
  2. Don’t know about your request about matches. But welcome to Knoxville.
  3. Powder manufacturers do not build a powder to a specific cartridge. The broader the range the more powder they sell. Many powders are available to 10mm as seen above. Do your research and testing, you will find a powder that you like.
  4. For those loading for precision in small batches, they might bite on that price. Others like me who bulk reload, we will wait for the primer, bullet price to drop as we always have plenty on the shelf.
  5. Good luck! Been reloading since the 1980’s when stuff was cheap. Haven’t had a Kaboom yet. Just be careful and enjoy loading your own. I haven’t fire a factory round in years other than to calibrate my M1 vented gas screws to factory gas pressures for my reloads with unknown powders.
  6. You can go to your local DMV and they will reissue a drivers license with a star printed in the upper right hand corner. You will have to jump through some hoops to get the star I.e. a CERTIFIED copy of you birth certificate, place of residence, etc. if you go to the DMV they will supply you with a check list.
  7. As tritium is radioactive, I would think one would need a license of some sort to ship internationally.
  8. If you wish to hit something at 1,000 yards, get a 60mm mortar. Being issued a M16 after training on a M14, anything beyond 200 yards, you’ve are just wasting ammo. Bring up the ‘pig’ (M60).
  9. I just checked (12:30 EDT, July 13). Midsouth has 65 powders on their website. I believe they have primers (pricey) but saving them for walk in customers only.

It’s yours, do as you wish.
  11. I can get you a balance beam for free. It’s older than you are but gravity doesn’t lie. PM me your address and watch your mail box. It’s a classic Pacific and maybe be an antique. As stated above “Titegroup” is in stock at ‘Midsouth Shooters Supplies”. It may not show up on their website as it’s a much sought after powder. Give them a call.
  12. I built mine while at UT from a discarded large instrument packing crate. Initially used it rebuild Harley engines. That hobby is long passed. Added some plywood to keep it from flexing. Have three machines mounted to it. Built it in the late sixties and am now retired and it’s still going strong.
  13. Swede, Would ammo loaded for the commercial market have the NATA markings? It’s possible that a reloader loaded it, but they are not inclined to leave good brass on the ground.
  14. Does this sight adjustment tool do both AK74S’s and SKS’s?
  15. There is a guy in Midway that is highly respected. He builds a very nice AR-15 but may take on your work. His company name is “Mohawk Armory “. There is a guy down toward Danridge who impressed me with his work. I’d have to find his business card.
  16. OP, check out ‘Midsouth shooter Supplies’, they have the powder you need in stock and ship. I’ve loaded thousands of rounds of .38 special and .357. I have used Accurate powder for years, but there others out there just as good.
  17. I was in the military for over 20 years, UH1Huey crew chief and door gunner. I never saw a reloaded round of 7.62x51 or 5.56. Maybe the military may use reloads in training, but when your butt has a target circle on it you used the good stuff. And the good stuff couldn’t help the M-60. We went on a mission years ago with 22 M60s. At the end of the day only two were operational.
  18. Tha ammo in no-corrosive and good stuff. I have shot a ton of it and still have a case or two. IIRC from research on this stuff…yes it does have hecho Venezuela on the box but I.think Venezuela had a contract with a company in Yugoslavia to produce the ammo. Still good stuff. Bob
  19. Actually the cross in a circle means it meets NATO ammunition standards. All military ammo I’ve seen (a lot) is crimped
  20. I too use a very old 550 with Dillon dies and have experienced small flash holes. It’s like the .45 acp issue with large and small primer pockets we see now. Just another step to save our precious primers.
  21. My experience with handguns deal with revolvers. Many years ago I tried to wear out a S&w model 28. I went to the range two days a week with buckets of ammo. I fired it till the cylinder wouldn’t turn. Went home and cleaned it, then repeated the next day. Gave up. Good quality revolvers like S&W you will never wear out no matter the round count. If you know how to check one for wear and tear you will be good if the price is right. I’ll leave auto to others.
  22. I agree with the above on reloading manuals…read, read, then read some more. As of right now “Midsouth Shooter Supply” has around 30 types of powder in stock and they ship. Keep an eye out in the usual places for used equipment and manuals. A couple of forums that could help are Reloading Equipment Only and No BS Reloading. If you were closer I could let you have some primers as you are a newbie.
  23. If your just starting then a single stage is best. I’m useing RCBS rock chuckers for precision rounds,. Others have their favorites. I have been at this a long time and had an epiphany. It’s like you buy a $100 fishing rod, then a $20,000 boat to take it fishing. Primers are going to be your problem.
  24. I have a H&R model 999. It is a 9 shot .22 that will take anything in that caliper. It is a top break type with a 6” barrel. It has seen some rust on the barrel (not bad) due to improper storage, handgun bag with wool. Unfortunately shipping a pistol at today’s cost would be about 25% of the guns worth. Bob
  25. I worked at a National Lab where we were working on a rail gun. The projectiles would burn up in earth’s atmosphere. It was part of the ‘Star Wars’ project and never happened.
