  1. Friend of mine purchased the AMT .22 mag pistol when it first came out in the 80's. It had a four foot muzzle flash come out of the barrel when he fired it at dusk. When I saw that, I changed my mind.
  2. There is a good reason why he has the largest supply you ever seen. Every time I walk into that store, I walk out shaking my head. I'd rather travel 90 miles; (180 mile round trip), to Knoxville and buy $300-$400 from our favorite vendor at a gun show. His prices are very fair and he cares more about his customers than his merchandise.
  3. While I agree with the sentiment that enough is enough, God help him if he or one of his team get involved in a bad shoot incident. The political and financial ramifications will make every lawsuit hungry lawyer salivate. This stunt will definitely bite him in the butt.
  4. Look at .44 Special loads. I agree with the 950 to 1000 Fps assessment putting it in the "powder puff" load category. Personally, I'd pull them as that bullet is the most expensive component of the load. I know powder is still kind of scarce and getting to choose what you want is still problematic, as an FYI I'd use Alliant/Hercules 2400 for the 44.
  5. Does this also pertain to the political party?
  6. I got an email yesterday they approved my refund ... still waiting on the check.
  7. It is my personal mission to take people out that have never shot anything before (especially kids) and let them shoot what I have. It is the only way to defeat the propaganda and lies floated by the gun control ( insert your favorite euphemism). My grandson recently went through 600 rounds of 5.56 on a three day visit with me, plus some kind gentleman at the range let him shoot his suppressed AR. That is how one demolishes the gun control argument. One person at a time. Future voters. Next generation. I don't care what it costs me.
  8. Looks like the regular memberships are not going up till March. Life went up to $1000 as advertised. I'd get a five year membership and wait till the next "Zero" crisis comes along. They will need a lot of money to counteract the impending media storm. The fight is only starting. There will be other sales coming.
  9. Looks like they extended to March ... https://nra2016.org/SignIn
  10. In your membership page, there is an option to turn off mailings. There was a brief period after Zero's speech ... about ten hours or so where several forums posted a link for a life membership going for $300. I can't really afford it but nailed it anyways. Got the confirmation yesterday along with hat.
  11. I've been averaging buying a gun a year from these guys. Last time I was there, all I got was arrogance and condescension from the gunsmith and the ex-cop that's involved with business somehow. This is after I spent $1300 on a rifle and had my pistol tuned by the so-called gunsmith god. I typically like supporting LGS, especially when they have a range. I'm pretty much over going there, last thing I need is to be insulted and denigrated by a couple of has-beens who believe they know it all. :( There are plenty of other places close by with better prices and service.
  12. The Apache pilot is Ed Macy, he describes this mission in his book "Apache".
  13. I started on a 550, it is the best one for multiple calibers, taking your time to do it right and being trouble free. Put an old sock on the handle to prevent blisters ... Slow is smooth ... Smooth is fast. It is a great press that can be passed down generations.
  14. Allergies acting up .... First one is new to me, second one I send to my grandkids when that time happens. Thanks!
  15. Had my eyes done in Chattanooga in January. Chose the diamond scalpel. Friend who is a surgeon in another part of the country told me not to use the laser as it was triple the cost out of pocket. He told me if he can't handle a scalpel, he won't be able to handle a laser. Made sense to me. Advice he gave me was choose a surgeon that does a lot of procedures and be careful which lens to choose. Eyesight is 20/20 left eye and 20/25 right eye. I chose the toric lens to correct my bad astigmatism and overall I'm satisfied. I still need 'cheater' eyeglasses as I'm now a bit farsighted instead of nearsighted. Only part I don't like. Nice thing is I get them at the drugstore for twenty bucks instead of spending several hundred dollars for prescription glasses. Shooting has improved and wearing sunglasses is great.

Just make sure it is not a MTD with fancy brand name plastic on it.

Can you drive it in your shed? Can you get it through your gates? Can you fit it on a trailer to get it serviced?
  18. The ounces won't matter when you realize you are getting the best of quick reactionary short distance shots versus clear and accurate long distance target ID and shot placement. It is the only sight system I used with both eyes open without the magnifier that consistently performs as advertised. If the situation doesn't call for it, I unclip it from the rail and stick it in my pocket, it really is as simple as that. Three seconds to remove, five seconds to install. The scopes I own are useless under 50 yards and marginal at a hundred. Great for making tiny groups, not that great for real life situations. FWIW, I own several Eotechs.

You get what you pay for. Several good ones out there, none are inexpensive. What one saves on a buying a cheap one will cost one more in the long run in repairs, service life, downtime and inconvenience. Dealer support is important. I bought a lightly used commercial duty zero turn on Craigslist and never looked back.
  20. I like mine, it's very clear and does the job well.
  21. Primers are the only thing that they are reasonable on. Powder is still 150% MSRP. When I stopped there earlier in the week in the vain hope that sanity prevailed on his pricing, they were marking down Unique from $32 to $30 ... I bought 3 pounds of Unique from Sportmans Warehouse a month ago for $65 tax included. Every time I drive by the place, the parking lot is empty. They are very proud and think highly of their well stocked shelves.
  22. Campers are notoriously easy to break into, lots of key sets are the same. Having good neighbors keeping an eye on your place makes a big difference. Hard to do when there is a lot of turnover. Don't keep valuables in them, been there, lost that.
  23. Not going to argue with you ... I personally know several people that got busted with moose and deer meat, salmon and smelt in their freezer. I also know one individual that is still doing hard time for having a growing operation that was a bit bigger than the law allowed ... within a thousand feet of school property. I may be wrong where they did enter the house with consent, I do know that they did use DNA evidence to prove the meat came from different animals. I'm still trying to find the statute and not having much success.
  24. I was raised in Maine. They have more power than any LEO out there. They can come into your house without a warrant and search your freezer. This is where it gets interesting, if they see something else, it now becomes probable cause for a warrant. Most of them are very professional and very serious about their work. My mom never forgave them giving her a littering ticket when she peed in the woods behind a tree. Mention the story and get ready to have your ears blistered with an epic rant ... fifty years later!
