  1. If they were within reach, I use a shop vac. Start vacuum and place the end of the wand an inch or two from the entrance and tie it down. Grab a chair to watch the festivities. You know you're winning when they are carrying their grubs out of the nest. When done ... couple hours later, spray a couple shots of wasp killer in the hose. This is also a great way to get them out of vinyl siding. Move very slowly when near the nest and they ignore you.
  2. The older I get, the more I realize time is precious. The body breaks down from the abuse heaped on it over the years and adjustments have to be made psychologically. It was quite rough to make the decisions I made as a result of injuries I went through over the years. While I agree with some of his minimalistic concepts, the role I play in society has demands. I worked hard to get there, sacrificed a lot. It is challenging and can be fun at times. That is what I hang on to. Living life as Jack Reacher in a Lee Child novel is not realistic. While the engineering curriculum was the hardest and most challenging choice I ever made, it was the most rewarding decision. I was a B student and busted my butt to get those grades. Working with people that value those contributions confirms I made the right choice. He's got some hard decisions to make and no one will make them for him. Encouraging hate and anger in one's life is symptomatic to some serious denial issues. Been there, done that ... taking ownership of what and who I am; good and bad led to my inner peace. It's not what's out there, it's what's inside that matters. Wish him the best.
  3. Unlike Slappy, I had to learn how not to live first. It was fun at first, then dues had to be paid ... lowest point of my life. Divorced out of a toxic relationship and lost pretty much everything I had. At that point, only one way to go and that is up. The Lord touched me and let me know I was not numbah one on his poop list. Quit drinking, prayed for a good woman, got one and things started to roll. Been one heck of a ride, rough times, good times and everything fell into place. A good woman will amplify your efforts exponentially. A bad woman will drag you down so fast and hard, you'll never see it coming till it's too late. I'm very grateful we have each other.
  4. It's not the place, it's the crowd. Any more than two people where I'm going to shoot, I move to another bay. If no bays available, I leave or find someone to talk to.
  5. Just found out it is a bushmaster competition trigger. Thanks for help and advice received in chat!
  6. Teaching a friend today on field stripping and cleaning his Bushmaster (made in Maine). The safety selector doesn't look like any that I've seen before. It has what looks like a half inch long threaded stud that is less than 1/8 inch diameter, hollowed out with what looks like a stainless roll pin inserted into the hollow center. In the fire position, this threaded stud is pointing straight up and it is located a third of the way from the lever side. It is not centered in the shaft. I could not rotate the selector to safe position with the hammer cocked or further depressed with my thumb. It stops at the 45 degree position halfway between safe and fire. There is no debris or primers in the mechanism. (Been there, done that). Before I take the trigger group out, I'd like to know what this is. I'm very familiar with trigger groups and how they work. The safety selector seems to have the standard shape and cam as a stock selector, in other words it is not the illegal type. To remove the selector, I'd have to remove that threaded stud in order to slide it out of the lower receiver. Y'all have any idea what this is?
  7. Academy, sportsman warehouse, GT's earned my business. Actually bought a second Eotech from them this spring and told them the reason why I bought from them instead of online was they had fair pricing on ammo. Three weeks later, I bought 1500 rounds from them. My grandson went through 500 rounds when he came to visit ... He's a better shot than I am!
  8. Ran into the same issue. Started watching gun bot and found a fair deal for a thousand rounds of Blazer brass ball ammo for a little over $350 including shipping. Any order over $200 had free shipping. I've come to the conclusion bulk is the only way to go ... market is still unstable and will be for some time.
  9. No, it can't work that way. Guns aren't allowed on school grounds. /sarcasm
  10. :stir: We could send them to DU ... :stir:
  11. There is no randomness associated to this survey. Well over 90 percent of the answers will be identical in this population. Motives coming from a well known liberal institution are not trustworthy considering the source and location. Questions are poorly designed as they clearly elicit conclusions at the beginning of the questionnaire. As someone who has taken three semesters of statistics, may I ask you to obtain help from your faculty or TA as this attempt has the appearance of trolling and a rather poor example at that. There is quite a bit more I want to write, however it really is not worth the effort or the time.
  12. Got some great advice from a local the first year I rode there, ride one end to the other without using your brakes. That is a lot more difficult than it seems. "Slow is smooth ... smooth is fast ..." Spent many a day there ... made the decision to sell the SV this year and take a maybe permanent break from riding.
  13. Most accurate handgun I ever shot. Just could not get over the safety is the opposite direction of a 1911 ... Only reason why I sold it. Could see myself relying on muscle memory in a time of stress trying to shoot with the safety on.
  14. Buy her a Kimber Ultra Raptor ... Problem solved! Good wives can be hard to find, sounds like you have a good one.
  15. BTW, my 1911 is a stainless Sig Revolution. It is quite the tack driver. Everyone who has tried it out wanted to buy it.
  16. I'm with MrBrian, buy a Rock River 1911 for under $450, a couple thousand rounds of .45 and shoot several times a week till the equipment limits you. I expect that to happen around 8-10k rounds. Spending a grand on a 1911 and putting a couple of boxes through it, is a recipe for a safe queen. Range membership, spare mags, $40 for a trigger job, cleaning equipment, holster, a couple classes ... go forth and make some noise. BTDT with a Ruger Security Six. It's not the instrument, it's the music. Not what you want to hear ... my apologies for that. Carry on ...
  17. I've always been treated fairly at Academy Sports. No lies, no misrepresentation. If anything, they have bent over backwards letting me know about deals I was not aware of. Be willing to bet that is the corporate image they want to project. If you play with dirt, expect to get dirty. The question he has to answer to his management; what was in it for him? One doesn't lie to customers and expect his character to stand up to scrutiny.
  18. All y'all sayin' you can't fix stupid? I'm shocked!
  19. After the Lemi-shine .... with the Lemi-shine ... or instead of the Lemi-shine???
  20. Uverse sales don't tell you the whole truth ... they did not outright lie, however their package did not deliver what they promised. Especially when it came time to renew. You may want to reconsider another provider. Tried them for a year and I'm back at charter. For one thing, customer service is much better. My internet service sucked with Uverse. I am waiting for a company that will come out with a cafeteria plan so I pay exactly what I want to watch. In the meantime, I haven't watched TV in two years, I surf and go where I want. I hate talking heads and I like movies. I get my news from the internet.
  21. In my profession, training rates are comparable, if not higher than that. OTOH, they are tax write-offs.
  22. I have a tin of small mints that was given to me at a trade show. It was the worse night of my life. I will never buy that vendors product for as long as I live. Very fine print that I read the following morning ... Warning: May have a laxative effect. BTDT
  23. Yes! Plus a backup source of heat that does not rely on electricity. The electrical grid is facing severe issues in the future.
  24. When you buy your switches and duplex outlets, please make sure they are commercial duty. You will thank me in the coming years. Contractor grade won't last. It is still safe, just works like crap after a couple years. You ever plug in the vacuum and the plug keeps falling out?
